Why do we still talk about RROD?

If 360 was such a bad system to own, the market would of abandoned it altogether because of fualty design. But its actually a great system (one we can't ignore) with one flaw that keeps it from overcoming the competition. Thats why I think we still talk about it.

The problem still exist and I agree, Microsoft deserves all the blame. But seriously, its 2008, name one RROD thread that was different from the rest? How long are we gonna continue the same argument with the same points?

RRoD threads are so repetitive, I don't even make a new post, I recycle my old one.

Screw MS for fualty, and Screw SW for monotonous debates.

Simple, we will cease the same argument when there is no more argument. When Micro repairs the problem, we will cease discussing said problem. Until then it is a relevant and valid point to bring up.

Yup, I had a lot of 360's die, but my last one is truckin'. The newer models seem to be pretty damn reliable. RROD is a tired argument that's been repeated time and time again. To the people addicted to the RROD issue, move along and get new material.

...because making RRoD threads is so entertaining and a real push in the right direction. I'm sure SW has rekindled the motivation in MS heart to fix it :|

The day mandatory installs and shovelware go away is the day that rrod does aswell....never. If it wasnt rrod for the main argument, than it would be disc drive errors. If it wasnt mandatory installs for the main, than it would be no AAAE. Wii would be facing the arguments of the gimmicky wiimote aswell....If you go on system wars, then expect the worst.

I was a huge fan of the Xbox, and bought a 360 at launch.

I got the RROD 3 times, and had a disc drive failure on the 4th console, (that happened to destroy disc 4 of Lost Odyssey, prolly my favorite game this gen) and I was so angry and fed up, I made the choice to go back to Sony and the PS3.

I honestly do not regret my choice, because I have been able to play some really fun games, (Uncharted, GT5P, Folklore) as well as all the multiplats, and I'm gonna stick with the PS3 because of upcoming games, and my bad experience of 360 failures.

I am not, however, a 360 hater.... I think its a darn fine console, with one of the best games libraries in the history of home consoles, and I love the controller, and Xbox Live.

I'm just saying that the RROD is a major problem, and it is real. And even if it did go away at this point, there is no need for me to spend another $400 on a game console when I have a PS3.

Xbox 360 as a console is rubbish - the games are great though! If you knock Microsoft out of the picture you'll have a great bulletproof console - Playstation - with a great library of games. Sure theres plenty of guys that have Xbox 360 from launch but then theres equal amount of those who launch Xbox 360 has RROD on them!

Tell me, those who constantly gets RROD - are you going to seriously bother sending the console in every year or so to have your Xbox 360 fixed? What happens after warranty runs out and having to constantly have to PAY to have it fixed? Sure in a decades time there'll be a new Xbox out already but you'd still want to keep and treasure the old usable one to play now and then for old times sake - but how can you when it has RROD on you so has the rest of the population of Xbox 360s! Well that last bit was a bit of an exaggeration but you can imagine a large population of Xbox 360 would of RROD in a decades time - I guess its a good thing for those whos hasnt RROD? GG resale price goes up for rare working Xbox 360!

Look sometimes the internet can pull peoples strings, like the battlefield game that had that rip off DLC to get extra guns the internet was buzzing with people saying how much of a rip off it is and what do ya know? they made it free

If you stop with the RROD then you never would have got a extra 2 years warranty and if you stop now they never will fix the problem, it's going on 3 years and there is no way people should put the heat off microsoft to fix the problem or it will never get done

Frankly, I believe your "working colleagues" are bits of pocket dander that you've given names to, and treat like people to stave off lonliness.

The RRoD argument against owing a 360 has been the last refuge for anti 360 fanboys as everything else about what makes a game machine worth owning, the 360 delivers in spades so what's a fanboy to do...... make a RRoD thread and lie about how many they have experienced along with 9 out of 10 of their friends and family as well and instead of opting to have MS replace it for FREE, they have run out and bought the competing console and live happily ever after.

When MS decides to stop being lazy and spends some of their precious profits to fix the problem, we will stop moaning about the issue.

It is a HUGE problem, I feel sorry for those who have had it, its not fair to pay full price at launch on the system only to have it break.

because invevitably, every system breaks, right? and MS doesn't fix it for free, right? and MS isn't feverishly trying to redesign the heat sink and install cooler chipsets, right?

You know what? You are right! Lets stop talking abou the RROD because it's a problem everyone knows about...While we are at that lets also stop talking about global warming, starvation, child labor, and hell who cares about war anymore? They are all tired arguements so lets give it up already.

Seems like they could have completely overhauled the 360 by now, and just completely redesigned the inside or something. I dont jack about making electronics, and it would probably be much more difficult than I can imagine - but seems like if they really wanted to take care of the RROD, they would be quicker about it.

I actually wish they would at least make a first party intercooler or something to help. It would just be a nice option, I dont trust the Nyko cooler or anything really - but if MS made one I would... at least then if it broke your 360 it wouldnt void the warranty, lo.

I think the 360 is a great system, it has lots of PROS that far outweight the CONS. Unfortunately, the RROD will go down in history as a huge problem that plagued this console generation for Microsoft. I mean, there is next gen, and the gen after that and so on forever still, as long as it is dealt with this gen and doesn't follow suit into next gen, they will be fine.

On another note, i'm betting the bluray player fused xbox will actually turn out to be the next gen console when it is released in a few years time.

It's a serious issue, that's for sure. And just like the PS2's DREs, it's one that will probably be brought up for the rest of the generation.
