Ive only had to get my 360 serviced four times since Ive owned it.

Sword-Demon

when a system breaks 4 times in less than 5 years, you probably shouldnt use the word "only" before it... anyway, there's simply no excuse to have a console that unreliable. it's an insult to all of their customers

pretty much this.

rrod is a joke and an absolute insult to their customers

I have my Xbox for over two years now. Still no RROD. Am I the chosen one?Salt_The_Fries
my old Xbox 360 didnt RROD, but the DVD drive started sticking so after 3 years I bought a new 1 with HDMI. If the console lives to a ripe old age chances are it wont RROD but another component will fail i.e. the rubbers on the disk drive in my case.

Hardware problems like RROD shouldnt be around, don't make excuses.

The repair is free though, my friends PS3 BD drive went out and he had to shell out $150 to fix it. (I'm not even joking, his FB status a few days ago said it broke again, poor guy). The repair process is excellent too, when mine broke a few years ago, you just go to the Xbox website and register your console. Total process took 2 weeks. Sorry, but I rather have free repairs than having to shell out money.

Yes its very unfortunate that you have to pay $150 to fix your PS3 but the chances of it happening arent as big as the RROD. They are both free under warranty though. Still both the 360 and the PS3 have a hefty price to repair when you get a hardware failure out of warranty it's about 100 to 120 to repair the 360. Personally I'd just rather have no hardware failures at all.

He had a launch PS3 60GB, so it had a decent chance of failure. The PS3 slims are basically flawless, the new 360s seem to be great so far also aside from the one youtube video and the one picture lol

Getting my xbox 360 fixed was a pain...customer service messed up my email so it took forever to finally get the information I needed to put on the box to ship it out.

From what I have heard the system has been streamlined since then, but either way hardware failures shouldn't be that routine. There really isn't any excuse for it and it definitely goes against the console's value in my eyes.

Its a problem that shouldnt exist, no way around it. And from stuff ive been hearing, MS could have prevented it and they knew full well about it before launch, but they decided to ship anyway to get ahead of the competition.

And users on the ps3 board at this site took a poll, and over 50% of the original launch PS3s have died. I've had 2 die on me, in fact. So let's not make it out to be a problem unique to one of the consoles. And the PS2... remember the disc read error? I sure do. Did I have a 360 break? Yes. But my wii died after 8 months and I'm on my 3rd PS3. Stop beating up on Microsoft. All hardware breaks.

But is a problem unique to one of the consoles. Systems breaking down happens, but the RROD was almost a epedemic! Everyone I know has experienced it, I've had both my 360, and my son's go into repair for it, best friend, and another friend with the same issue. My PS3 is still going strong. I don't think anyone here is trying to beat up on the 360's RROD syndrome, but yet explaining that is isn't a issue that is OK, like the TC says. I love my 360, and I hope they have resolved the whole issue, but I stay worried about the RROD popping up on my console, which I shouldn't have to.

Emm, no its pretty bad, There is nothing like complaining that pc is full of problems and you cant play and getting a prod and having nothing to play. One of the reason i bought a ps3, its a beast, it never dies.

No, it sucks. Especially now that my warranty is over and my 360 is doomed to die from RRoD sometime soon, and I'll have to shell out $300 to buy another crappily made piece of hardware.
