So likely they're abandoning the 10 year plan?
I just hope that they don't make it an open-world game like Infinite. I hated the structure of that game. Just make it more linear and I will be happy.
@Antwan3K: I disagree. Halo infinite has a solid foundation. Nothing wrong with expanding on it. But I guess the issue is that they don't have enough people that understand the code base, making it hard to take such an approach.
Narrative doesn't matter. Just look at a game like cyber punk. The game was trashed so bad back in 2020, and people literally abandoned it. Look where they are now.
i think they should definitely keep the Halo Infinite multiplayer intact.. once they announce/release a new singleplayer campaign, a ton of players will return and give the multiplayer a try.. at this point, i think most will be satisfied with the amount of content available..
and they can feel free to use the same engine and everything for the new campaign.. just from a PR and marketing standpoint, it would be good to announce it as a brand new campaign (complete with a new title) rather than announce it as DLC for Halo Infinite..
@nepu7supastar7: I did start out by saying, "Here's a crazy thought."
But the more I think about it the more it makes sense. Give 343 a break from making the same game character, world etc and let them freshen up on a new ip.
Give Halo to ID for a spin off type game like a Reach or ODST, it would create so much buzz for the series, and also get ID away from Doom fatigue as well, a win for both teams and MS I think.
MS has shown that it's willing to try out new things, I mean they are letting Playground Games make a new Fable.

I definitely don't dislike the idea of Halo being handed over to a more competent dev like ID but the problem is that 343i was originally full of hand-picked members to specifically work on Halo games. There's no denying that they kinda suck at it and can't write a proper sequel to save their lives but there's not much value in saving the team to work on something completely different.
@nepu7supastar7: The problem is that MS has the Coalition just making Gears games and 343 just making Halo games.
You can't keep getting people to do the same thing over and over as they just become creatively bankrupt.
Also, Phil was just on the Xbox podcast stating that, like with his other devs he just bought in Bethesda, the Activision teams could make what they want even take on MS own ip's.
So I think they should give ID a chance at a Halo spin-off.
