Bill Gates might be making an Xbox 360 2.0 announcement at his CES keynote swan song, the Seattle Times' Brier Dudley predicts in a column today.

"In particular, Microsoft could work with Toshiba to develop a digital video recorder with a hard-drive, high-definition HD-DVD drive and Xbox gaming capabilities. They're already allied against Sony and other backers of the Blu-ray DVD format, and Toshiba could help Xbox finally penetrate the Japanese market. Microsoft could also make a splash by announcing plans to give the Xbox 360 an internal HD-DVD drive, putting it on par with Sony's PlayStation 3 that has a built-in Blu-ray drive."

thats what i'm thinking. ms won't really lose anything if bluray wins, they just want to make sure there competitor doesn't win.

Redundant tactics ? No other company has gone to the lengths Microsoft have to ensure success for their platform.

Speaking of redundant tactics, the only reason the PS3 is overpriced is because $ony ( :roll: ) wanted to Trojan Horse Blu-Ray into peoples homes.

so far we have premium/ premium with HDMi, arcade, core, elite, and then all them mutiply by 2 for falcom versions (aka the ones that work)

M$ knew that everyone was was thinking of hd.When your in this business you should think of the future like sony putting in blu-ray. the bigger the risk the greater the reward.

Considering the price right now of the Elite, if Microsoft decided to release a console like that, it would cost more than the 80gig PS3.

I wonder how people who bought the Elite will feel, specially after this.

That pic in that tread was fake, but its true. I was watching the news yesterday, and I was reading the words that run across the bottom of the screen, that was on of the announcements. Its just a matter of time now.

Im sick of the upgrades in the system. I wont be buying anymore MS products as they are going about consoles all wrong with their annual new models. Early adopters are getting screwed. If I wanted to upgrade every year Id play on a PC.rockydog1111

What did you expect ms is a computer software company. There are treating the 360 like a computer and upgrading whenever the feel like it. At least they have killer games.

You cant really blame them, not everyone knows all the pointless information that we do on SW. They just want to take over the gaming industry at any cost. I could careless, I have had more fun this year with 360 games then any other year I can remember. I have owned every system ever made except the atari and gaming pc.

Umm. what? The 360 routinely outsdells the PS3 by 2 or 3 to 1 in the largest market in the world, the U.S. Adding an HDDVD drive to the 360 would strenghten the HD-DVD position considerably. It's quite obvious as to why they'd want one in the 360...
