How long do you think it will be until a stable co-op mod is out though?

(I'm getting the PC version too btw)

Harbadakus

Knowing the cult following of SS2 and the mod community associated with them, I'd give it a few months. Won't be that hard. I know nothing about programming though... so I could be entirely wrong. Depending on how well the code is written it could take various amounts of time. Usually things like a co-op don't take long to add, it is the full conversion mods that take far longer.

I know Doom 3 Co-op came out about 5 or 6 months after Doom 3 did.

You can cling to sales all you want, the PC version is superior.

Yeah have fun with your higher selling game whilst we will have fun with a better game. Even if the game is not better on the PC how do higher sales make it better on the console?

So the 360 wont be fun now? Oh, ok, i'll cancel my order then.

[QUOTE="Harbadakus"][QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="Heil68"] Nope not at all..I guess we'll see what the diffrent reviews say..im just tired og the 360 bashing is all, like its going to look like crap compared to the pc version. It will look and play the same, just like CC Tiberium wars. Crysis is being developed for PC only..big difference.Vandalvideo
No, the PC version WILL support higher resolutions and direct X 10, it will look better. Modders wll also add co-op, so it will have more features.

How long do you think it will be until a stable co-op mod is out though?

Depends if they base it around Hamachi like they did with System Shock 2. Hamachi would provide a stable frame for online multiplayer. My guess would be two to three months, depending if it ships with the SDK or not.

I thought SS2 got a patch by the developers for Co-op.

[QUOTE="Heil68"]"right now we're focused on getting the game out the door on the platform that we're on and that we love" :shock:Heil68

PC ofcourse. :D

LEVINE: Right now we're totally focused on making the game for Xbox 360. Microsoft has been a great partner, we love the platform, and we get to make a PC game as well. That's great because we come from the PC side, but right now we're focused on getting the game out the door on the platform that we're on and that we love. :D

This is why I'm getting the 360 version. There are two teams working on both versions though, although the main platform for the game is the 360. Plus I have a setup (56" Samsung LED DLP 1080p TV, surround sound, etc) that makes playing this game on my console so much better than playing it on my PC. Graphics really don't mean much. Both versions will look amazing.

The hermits just try to make it sound like the 360 version will be crap..yea right

You do realize that the 2 of us you are argueing with both have 360's aswell as PCs right?

Nothing would stop you from playing your PC on the same setup.

I may have more money than most, but I'm not going to upgrade right now. I have surround sound speakers (KlipschTFX), but not a desk to put them on. I also have a 30" monitor and a computer that would make most of you cry. Doesn't mean I will get the PC version. This is a game I will play on my 360. It was built with the 360 in mind (from the ground up on that platform) so it will be the version I will get. I might get the PC version next year once it has been modded and the bugs have been fixed.

I fail to see the logic in that, since a whole team was dedicated to making sure the PC version was tailored to...the PC, of all things. Also according to PCG UK it wasn't a buggy game at all.

IN my experiences, most PC games are buggy, although I haven't had any problems with C&C3 yet (last PC game I have bought).

Any way and this is for all you hermits, stop trying to convince to buy one version or the other. I'm getting the 360 version for now and I'll probably get the PC version later on if I like the game. Sort of like RE4. I have bought the GCN, PS2 and Wii version of that game because it was that good.

Well this is SW's right? Score of PC CC Tiberium 9.0, Score of 360 version 8,7..Wow, it really showed a difference there.

Also, again you dont seem to realize, the Reviews are based on the games with no mods and things.

Example, Oblivion scored lowest on PC ... yet ... its ... very much the best version, by a landslide ... did the review reflect this? No? Why? Because PC games just get better and better from the community.

It might take a lot longer than that, Bioshock has no netcode from multiplayer for modders to work with, so I dunno. It definitely will be possible though, Oblivion has a co-op mode now.(though it's kinda broken)

You better not be implying that console games are some shimmering example of perfect games without bugs, because they ARE NOT. The mere logistics of fixing console bugs were arcane until recent, and we're beginning to see intermitten patches for console games too now.

doubt it.

with the poor userbase of the ps3, it wouldn't make sense for them to spend the money to make it happen...

it's weird that cows are getting excited over 360 scraps....

Were in Sw's...its used here..I agree though as the Wii might out sell 360 and ps3 doesn't make it 'better'. I just think in this case both games will look very similar, score very similar and play very similar because they are getting developed at same time. The mods the pc does have are a definite plus.

Possible? Maybe, but while his quote doesn't rule out a PS3 version, it doesn't really support it either. If he had said, "we're looking into other platforms for it, but not until we finish the 360/PC" then it would stand a good chance.

Hoping, but not holding my breath.

The majority of console games that I have bought are more reliable and less buggy, although C&C3 has given me new hope for PC gaming. That game is pretty much flawless. Not a problem yet and on top of that it was awesome too. Hopefully Crysis, HL2: Orange Box, Hellsgate, UT3, etc will all be awesome and non-buggy as well.

Its not that they're less buggy, its merely that your perception of the bugs are different because its become a common occurence in console gaming. You see games like socom with flagrant map exploits that stayed in for over six months! Console games are just as plagued by bugs, they ARE NOT immune.

Why did this topic become an arguemnt over PC VS XBOX 360 versionssoiguessialive

Some one said they were getting the best version (opinion) and then some one asked. He said PC and the rest is history. Personally I find it to be funny. People claiming this one is the best or that one is the best when none of them have played the game, LOL!!!

I think both will be great and it all depends on your setup as far as which one to get.

There was never a reason not to go on the PS3 now that its install base is going to rival the 360.NobuoMusicMaker

And when will that happen? When EA and Midway continue to claim that its sales are slow?

Which isn't true at all. PC games aren't innately buggier than console games. I mean, most console version of games have more bugs and patches than their PC counterparts. Just look at GRAW, its first patch for the 360 was over two pages long, while its PC counterpart was much smaller. Its merely perception man, perception.

Thats silly, graphics and sound will be the same, and since I am an ex pc gamer, mods are okay but usualy are lame. Neither Version is better, their both the same. Hermits and Lemmings need to get along more

Ever heard of EAX and DirectX10? Not to mention the PC version will support higher resolutions. Research before you speak or i'll chop you down. EAX will provide superior sound, and DirectX10 + higher resolutiosn will provide better graphics.

Good To Know We All Agree It May Be Coming To The PS3 And That The PC Version Is The Best...

Why Are We Discussing PC/360 Versions Again?

[QUOTE="Harbadakus"][QUOTE="foxhound_fox"][QUOTE="Harbadakus"]How long do you think it will be until a stable co-op mod is out though?

(I'm getting the PC version too btw)

Vandalvideo

Knowing the cult following of SS2 and the mod community associated with them, I'd give it a few months. Won't be that hard. I know nothing about programming though... so I could be entirely wrong. Depending on how well the code is written it could take various amounts of time. Usually things like a co-op don't take long to add, it is the full conversion mods that take far longer.

I know Doom 3 Co-op came out about 5 or 6 months after Doom 3 did.

It might take a lot longer than that, Bioshock has no netcode from multiplayer for modders to work with, so I dunno. It definitely will be possible though, Oblivion has a co-op mode now.(though it's kinda broken)

Thats what Hamachi is for. It creates a LAN over the interweb :o

Yes, but the games you use Hamachi with need Lan-play in the first place, Bioshock doesn't have that.

(so modders will have to find another way around that, like what the Oblivion mod does)

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="eastside49er"]The majority of console games that I have bought are more reliable and less buggy, although C&C3 has given me new hope for PC gaming. That game is pretty much flawless. Not a problem yet and on top of that it was awesome too. Hopefully Crysis, HL2: Orange Box, Hellsgate, UT3, etc will all be awesome and non-buggy as well.Vandalvideo

Its not that they're less buggy, its merely that your perception of the bugs are different because its become a common occurence in console gaming. You see games like socom with flagrant map exploits that stayed in for over six months! Console games are just as plagued by bugs, they ARE NOT immune.

I didn't say they were immune to bugs. I said the console games that I have played, seem to be less buggy or more reliable that past PC games I have played.

Well GRAW for the 360 was a completely different game than the PC version (go look at the reviews for reference). And I don't know what console games you play, but the majority of the ones I play are pretty much bug free. I am just now getting back into PC gaming and so far I have been impressed. Hopefully it will continue to impress me the rest of the year. :D

I don't think any one in here really cares about the PS3 version to be honest with you, if one even exists. :|

W/e You have have all of those things for that(cept monitors since most support high reslotion) so it will be better for some users. And why do you need to "chop me down" b/c I don't know all those things about a pc since i all i use mine for is papers and internet. We need to get along before the crabs and sheep over take us

If true, one less reason for me to get a 360.

Oh well :(

Hate to break it to you, but the 360 can't output resolutions higher than 1080i, while the PC easily has the equivalent of 1200p.

Xbox 360 owners get Bioshock, the same version as the PC version, and they get Halo 3 next month which will probably be better than any game this year.

Hermits have nothing to brag about. 360 is the real gamers platform of choice. And the 360 version of Bioshock will score better.

Actually it can output up to 1080p and my set proves it. There are even some games that run in 1080p and more on the way. I can't tell the difference either way. HD is HD for me.
