Rumor: Cyberpunk 2077 delayed because of current gen consoles

The only thing that is idiotic is you saying that you don't see anything about the game that can't be done on a PS4 Pro and X1X... Since clearly the rumour behind the delay is to do with the base Xbox One and S which have 1/4 the GPU power of a X1X and CPU that is clocked 600MHz lower.

• The X1X has a GPU is between the performance of a RX 580 and GTX 1070 which are capable gaming GPU's today
• The X1 and S have GPU's that are around the performance of a 750 Ti and HD 7850 which are not capable gaming GPU's today

The difference between the X1X and X1S in GPU performance is bigger than the X1X and the next generation consoles, just to give you a idea what these developers are working with when it comes to trying get there games to run at stable frame rates... They art literally making cross generation ports within the same generation because of the substantial power difference.

Haha I'll admit I was fooled. I didn't really look into what it was running on, just looking at the game in general.

I wish CDPR announced this game would be PC and next gen console only. They used to be a PC-centric developer, but obviously that's not the case anymore if they are still developing their games to run on ancient console hardware.

Nope. Not needed at the moment. MS games already on PC and Sony is coming around. PC getting the best versions of first party games and multiplats FTW!

@IMAHAPYHIPPO: Ye, that's bad project management. Regardless of your PC master race fantasy, this is a developer that stated the Witcher 3 wouldn't be possible without consoles. I'm assuming the same still stands for this game as there's 0 AAA games that are PC exclusives. It's just how the market works.

I've said it in this forums as soon as they released gameplay that current gen consoles would struggle to run it and that I rather they just released it next gen as I imagine this would be a heavy on CPU game. I'm sure they'll sort it, all I want it this game to be as good as possible. And I would be fine with it releasing first on PC, but again, that's just not how the market works.

As for Witcher 3 sales:

PC isn't doing bad when you consider how many PS4/Xbox's where out in 2015-2017... combined almost 100 million consoles and PC still out performs both after the first year of sales.

I feel bad for anybody that's gonna waste this game on consoles.

You can get it and play it smoother on the x-series or ps5. I think that's the route I'll take.

60FPS on medium is a great gaming experience.

30FPS is not a problem also really... The problem is if it can't hold 30FPS and drop regularly to 20FPS, which is how I feel this game will end up on current gen hardware on base consoles.

I hope I can play it at 1440/60 on High(not max) settings with a little bit of Ray Tracing with a 2080 Ti.

If it helps PC version's optimization too then I don't mind it, even though delay kinda sucks. On other hand I always expected it to get delayed like Witcher 3. Here is hoping that optimization won't come at the cost of downgrade. From what I expect, they delayed it because they need more time to optimize their streaming tech. They improved it a lot in Blood and Wine expansion and reduced stuttering in populated cities and it also allowed them to crank up draw distance further. CP2077 takes place within a populated city instead of city being just a part of bigger world populated with dense forests like Witcher 3, which means they require much better streaming than Witcher 3 to make it run on current hardware especially on Consoles or mid range PCs especially the ones that lack SSDs or don't have extremely powerful GPUs to load textures without lag or stuttering.

Yeah, agreed on the 60fps/medium thing. Anyone who's ever watched a Digital Foundry analysis of a modern PC game will know most high/max settings only make relatively minor improvements to a games visuals over medium. Even the best current implementations of ray tracing can hardly justify the insane hit to performance it incurs.
