If this actually happens I will be happy for Microsoft. They have never won a console generation before and I think they definitely deserve it so whatever gets them to that point will be a time for celebration. So I hope they end up buying Discord.

It sounds like Discord is interested in selling and is shopping around and while it may suck to see things get boughten up the truth is there’s a number of companies with very deep pockets. If you don’t buy what you can someone else will.
Maybe I’m being silly or just stupid to people but things like this makes me depressed. Corporations spending Billions to become even a bigger corporate monster while billions of people are hungry and homeless,or struggling to put food on the table for their kids and pay rent. I understand it’s the way things are, nothing I can do about it. It just not fair to others witch is the strong majority. Sad.

As I said before about MS, a company their size has a lot of revenue compared to their overhead so a lot of wiggle room for tax wrote offs for expansion investments, otherwise they just lose the money anyways in taxes, best to get something out of it and write it off.

Nevermind the fact that Discord is about much more than just multiplayer gaming. Can find a server for just about any genre/series/game. More like game specific chats that are typically organized and maintained better than forums. Sometimes official, so discussion + direct news and feedback from devs.
Probably 1% of my Discord time is multiplayer chat lol.

Heck discord is much more than just gaming in general. Its one of the many apps that is replacing forums.

For starters, i saw conan talking about it in the lounge, remember him saying something about it, and just brushed over his comment, so yeah heard of it, know nothing about it.

On topic: It's not just MS in talks, Epic and Amazon are also looking to buy Discord. There is also the chance that Discord decides to go public on their own and hopefully Discord goes independently cause its better on its own than letting anyone buying it. Sorry but I don't trust MS.
Amazon can buy it but Epic doesn't have the money but Papa Tencent can buy it for themselves.
Or Nokia. I feel like this is way over valued. Whenever they spend a ridiculous amount of money for an acquisition, it seems to not work out well. Discord sounds way overvalued.
Were Beam or Nokia the market leader when they bought those? Also Nokia was during the time of Ballmer. They haven't screwed Github and Linkedin so that particular comparison is flawed. Regardless MS has a slim chance with it because I think Amazon will outbid them if it comes to that.

Thanks to the recent quarantine I became addicted to Sea of Thieves on PC. I used the Xbox looking for group feature to join other like-minded players and what I've noticed is that kids are making it a trend to put their Discord ID number after their gamertag so others can add them. They tend to prefer communicating using Discord rather than in-game or using party chat. It's become another social media platform where these kids form an identity.
