Yeah, this is not a reliable source. MS cannot afford to spend more money then they already have. I'm calling this BS!

But MS still has the $68 billion in assets. And now the that $68 billion that they still have, is generating even more revenue and profits. So not only can they afford to, they could double that investment. That said, MS knows all to well what it is like to be a monopoly. I am guessing the governments would shut this down.

This is awesome! More games on Game Pass, the better.

Sega and Capcom would be my favourite acquisition targets for Microsoft. However I believe the Japanese government makes it hard for foreign companies to buy Japanese companies?

Says the guy who goes on and on about how Valve is a monopoly but have no problem with his favorite corporate witha history of anti competitive practices buying up the industry.

@pc_rocks: the amount of people who use Steam is way higher than the amount of people who use Game Pass, so nothing unusual about my comment.

The amount of IPs, devs, publishers and content MS owns is way higher than whatever Valve or any other competitor has. So yeah, definitely unusual for you. Actually, you're right, it's nothing unusual as double standards are expected from corporate fanboys.

oh please let it be the remaining Embracer portfolio 🙏🏼

Normally I dislike acquisitions but...

If it means acquiring ANYONE from Embracer. Then that is always a good thing, 100% of hte time.

BREAK THEM UP! BREAK THEM UP! BREAK THEM UP!

Start with ABK...take them away from MS...then break ABK up into A, B, and K!

HOW DO THEY KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS!? Late-stage capitalism is real! Corruption is standard operating procedure! Get out and vote these people out of office. Repeal citizens united!

RAWR!*

*This has been an emotional response from Gamespot's resident communist, Comrade Bojangles.

Totally.

I mean, I jest, of course. What good is a life if you can't have fun, even (especially?) at the worst of times?

But at the same time...also serious.

Everyone who thinks MS is going to buy a publisher to revive franchises is an incredibly delusional fanboy. They would rather acquire the pub/studio and sequester talent from their competitors, as they have attempted and done with several teams to date. Steve Burke from gamers Nexus pointed it out as well. This is one of the many reasons why "escalation" to massive (biggest ever) acquisitions is terrible for all of us. Snap out of it.

Can I ask.... What are we afraid of losing? Preferably I'd rather developers remain totally independent.... But it's their choice to sell to a publisher and relinquish control of their future. So what remains? Who are the studios making independent games and what are they making? I bet it's really good.

Anyone who supports "Big Gaming" is enabling anti-competition practices.

@onesiphorus: Tell that to PC gamers who openly support Valve’s Steam monopoly and actively oppose competition like Epic Games Store and GOG Galaxy.

You're wasting your breath with that person as he NEVER responds to anyone on here, and secondly Hermits won't acknowledge that Steam is a monopoly or when pushed say it's a "good" monopoly 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
