stories going around reddit, neogaf, twitter, and gameFAQ are that local gamestop stop taking pre-orders. anyone heard of this? I haven't checked my local GS. Last time I was there last Saturday, preorder numbers stood at PS4 120+, Xbone 20+
I have checked at 5 Gamestops in person and called a few more. They all said they were out of preorders. One of them even told me they got 18 PS4's and only 12 Xbox Ones. I had to give up on Gamespot and preorder with Best Buy (and had to pay for the entire console upfront.). All of the Gamestops still had PS4's available for preorder. I rushed out to preorder a PS4 but I guess I didn't need to.
I don't like to wait. I HATE buying things online because of that.
Usually when you preorder from Amazon, there is an option for delivery on day of release. Â Although, for the new consoles they may already be sold out of those day one preorders
A lot of risk preordering from GameStop. A few around here closed shop without warning. Took about a dozen phone calls and reporting a fraudulent charge on my cc before I got my deposit back.
I don't like to wait. I HATE buying things online because of that. I got my PS4 pre-order with FREE release day shipping. So I can go to sleep, wake up, and a few hours later UPS knocks on my door and gives me my PS4. No waiting in lines, no camping, no dudebros or loud people, no annoyance. :)

That does sound like a great deal. I have fun in the lines most of the time though.
I don't believe anything I read here that is a rumor regarding the x1. Its the trendy thing to hate now. By November it will be responsible for 9/11 happening.
supposedly there were rumors that the X1 was 6 months behind production (which also might explain why everything shown for the X1 was actually running on a PC, even the demos on the show floor), so they probably dont have many to supply to begin with.

I was actually at my local Gamestop yesterday to preorder the PS4 and I asked the manager there how each of the consoles was doing in terms of preorders. He said he there were 40 PS4s left for preorder vs none for the X1. Apparently Microsoft is having some issues manufacturing and that the quantity for the X1 is going to be quite limited at launch? (not sure as to the accuracy of this statement). He did say however that the store was only given 16 X1's to make available for preorder, and they sold out when the system was first announced. Not sure how much demand there is for the PS4, but it sounds like supply will be less of an issue than for the PS4 than the X1.Â
Maybe GameStop realized the X1 will put the store out of business. Why sell a item that will hurt your stores business in the long run. The mark up on a console sale is very little. Not enough to keep a store in business by any means. I will be going all digital unless it is a really cool Legendary Edition or something like that. We shall see where GameStop is in another year.

Besides the fact that the X1 allows preowned games.. yeah, it'll hurt them.
yeah, i told people the story my buddy told me a few days ago about him going to put his preorder in for both the ps4 and x1 and  not being able to preorder the xbox  and some in sw flipped  out and was making a big deal about me lying about it.

the gamestop down the street from me sold out of x1's like 2 weeks ago.
