Lastly when a guy like Warren Moon has to toil away in the CFL for years while putting up unearthly numbers it showed that the NFL owners and coaches never gave black QBs a chance. That goes for college as well during those times. It was a concerted effort for decades to keep blacks from playing the position at a high level.
Lots of truth to this, and one day in the future it'll level out quite a bit.
Quite a few years ago the NFL tried to over-compensate those past mistakes by over-exposing Donovan McNabb, aka the most over-rated choker that has ever played the game. They had him in like every commercial the NFL ever filmed at that time, and tried to make him look like Super Man and the Pope all rolled up into one person. They put him on a pedestal and it blew up in their faces.
i gotta agree with this. i'm a McNabb fan in the long run but i've witness him choke away far too many games to get all the love he received(those Campbell's soup commercials got ridiculous after a while lol). honestly, Andy Reid made McNabb what he was...and it was very apparent after he was traded that his game was lacking seriously.
but they're have been/are legitimately good minority quarterbacks out there. Warren Moon (like Kuu2 mentioned), Randal Cunningham, Cam Newtown, Mike Vick...etc,many showing signs of greatness. it's surprising that more Superbowls weren't won by some. it's probably due to lack of opportunity than lack of actual ability.
@mems_1224 geez, sounds like ur going through a hard time with the Texans...nevertheless, thanks for Demeco Ryans. the guys a beast.
