Ryse =great gameplay&story! Somethin fishy bout the reviews.

There is a good deal of depth to Ryse's combat. There is sword attack, deflect, push attack, and executions that need to be timed correctly (with a trigger to activate them). Also, with the D-Pad you must select execution rewards. Also, there evade, focus power, troop orders/taunt, and more.

Ryse is very polished and extremely well made with outstanding graphics (the best graphics I have ever seen in a video game). Great story and voice-acting as well. What's not to like? The game deserves a 90 or higher on Metacritic.

I honestly think the extreme online Cow presence (from reviewers and end-users alike) has skewed the scores of XBOX ONE games. There is just absolutely no way Ryse deserves the Metacritic score of 61 it has received. It deserves MUCH higher!! There's something very fishy going on.

I already didn't trust online game reviews, and now after playing Ryse, I REALLY don't trust online game reviews at all!!

For all of you on this forum that own an XBOX ONE and Ryse, what do you think of Ryse's Metacritic score? Do you think it's fair? Or do you think there's something suspicious going on with the reviews (i.e. XBOX ONE hate from Cows)?

Yeah, the executions need to be timed correctly or… you'll get less points than you were going to. What a penalty. In most games screwing up the quick-time event has an actual penalty.

And lol at it having a good story.

I very much doubt the entire industry was off by 30+ pts.

Ryse just stinks. It's a launch game. It's by Crytek. It was in development hell. It's on the Xbone. Accept it and move on. No one will remember this turd in six months.

There's no conspiracy. The game just sucks. That much has been evident from videos going back several months before the game even launched.

This is what Ryse's combat system wishes it was.

You know what's more satisfying than beheading an enemy by timing a quick time event? Beheading an enemy by using your horizontal slash attack, and aiming at his neck.

I actually enjoyed Ryse quite a bit. Definitely not a 4/10 like gamespot said. Closer to a 7/10 IMO.

Of course once you enter an execution, the opponent is dead. That isn't the point. When you are playing on a hard enough difficulty, you NEED to execute perfectly to stay alive which does provide you the incentive to get it right. The game is gorgeous. The story is entertaining. The multiplayer is fun much of the same way Horde mode is with Gears.

The bottom line though is that it scored what it scored here and we have to live with it or post elsewhere. Even if i completely disagree with the review (did he even play it on a hard difficulty because he claimed you never have more than a few enemies to contend with. I've had numerous enemies attacking me at once but i also played on the hardest difficulties)

Ryse 2 will be much better overall, but unfortunately for the Lems, there is a very, very high chance that it will be on the PS4 as well. So no win there!

Its crazy you asked people who played it to give their opinion and what you get on this site ...........a bunch of cows and informants that haven't even played the game bringing old ass gifs in the thread this place is soooo pitiful sometimes it was def better that the score it got.

Ryse does not have deep combat at all. It's a shallow puddle compared to even the God of War series, which is also a very casual action game.

You should do yourself a favor and go pick up Devil May Cry 4 or Bayonetta for the Xbox 360 and see what a game with real depth in the combat means.

Classic case of launch game syndrome. You'll get better TC, it just takes time. I prescribe a heavy dose of 'rational thought'.

There is nothing inconsistent here. Compare the combat system of Ryse with a game from a similar genre: God Of War. Ryse just isn't in the same league gameplay wise.

@Thunder7151: Let me make sure I understand you: You feel that Ryse received a 61 metacritic score after 63 reviews because of a global conspiracy of PlayStation fans, and not because it was shallow, short, and repetitive.

@Thunder7151: The Metacritic score it pretty accurate. I'd give the game a 6.5. Knack's score is about right on Metacritic as well. Ryse's story is ok, but the game play is repetitive and there isn't a whole lot of depth in the fighting. There is more depth in Killer Instinct's fighting system them Ryse.

Ouch. Now for further fun, yes go on trying to convince me Ryse is best looking console game right now. I say Killzone looks superior and I know it also does a better framerate and resolution. Furthermore, this game scored the same as Knack. But I'm sure that game was deserving of the 4 out of 10. Not this game, right? This game with repetitive, shallow combat, embracing of microtransactions, short story, lacking enemy variety, should be a 90 on metacritic.
