Saint's Row 2 > GTA4? (new trailer)

What I would rather is to actually do storyline missions one after the other instead of being forced to do "activities" all the time.elektrixxx

The video was titled: "Activities: Saints Row 2 vs. GTA IV", so the whole point of the video was the activities, hence the reason no storyline missions were shown.

Some of the stuff looks pretty cool, but did anyone notice that a LOT of the stuff on the video is just stuff they took out of past GTA games?

Demolition derbies, flying planes, hell even protecting the band on stage reminded me of the Love Fist missions. Once a clone, always a clone.

GTA IV does it in a more mature and tasteful way, although it's still sprinkled with distasteful immaturity. SR2 is trying to sell itself off of its distasteful immaturity. It's a copycat, so Volition feels the need to "shock" people.

GTA4 is seriously lacking in the crazyness factor. All of the old wacky things I loved in San Andreas are gone in GTA4.

No more crazy weapons,like Katanas,chainsaws,meat cleavers,flamethrowers etc...

No more tanks. You can't even destroy trains in GTA4. Saints Row 1 did that.

Saints Row 2 obviously won't be a better game overall,but it'll last alot longer for me because it looks like it's bringing fun back to rampaging.

Actually Saints Row was extremely fun. I had a few paragraphs typed out in one of the other GTA vs. Saints Row threads I tried to post in before I saw this one, but since the mods see fit to go on ****ing locking sprees it was lost in the ether of the internet tubes for all time.

But basically I think there is a place in the world for both Saints Row and GTA. GTA has taken a more serious approach, and it was a great game, but SR was just crazy fun. Say what you will about the gangsta baditude, I thought it was pretty silly and over the top, the shooting mechanics were simple but solid, and I actually thought the story was funny and well done. People gotta stop taking stories in games like this so seriously.

Overall Saints Row feels pretty under-appreciated and I'm looking forward to SR2 as much or more than I was GTA IV.

Exactly, because there is absolutely nothing funnier than playing chauffer. I mean, who would rather ride shotgun during a drug trafficing mission fighting a wave of cops and enemy gang members when they could be driving their friend back home from a Burger Shot, stopping at a toll booth and... zzzz.

I will not apologize for the first Saint's Row. It's story was pretty stupid. However, it also did a lot of things right. It's combat and garage system are outstanding in my opinion. Best of all: It was fun.

GTA4 was fun until right after the bank Heist. Then the plane crashed right into the mountain.

If you like GTA4, that's great. It is a very pretty game and has some great things to do in it. One great thing about it was the taxi system. Another great thing I enjoyed was the cover system. However, that's about it.

The fact is, I am looking forward to Saints Row 2. I think it will succeed in the areas GTA4 fails.

Wow, they're really going after GTA IV, and yeah, those SR2 activities looks fun.

Unless the PS3 get exclusive episodic content, there's no reason to get it for it if you have both consoles, because everyone associates Saint's Row with the 360.

Saints Row was worse than every GTA game, including LCS and VCS, so I highly doubt Saints Row 2 will be anything more. I expect the same mediocrity this time around, yet for some reason, Saints Row 2 looks even worse than the original, visually.
