Yep, this is probably the main reasons for dropping it for the PS3 now. Releasing it so close to a new GTA (which have had more development time and 100x the resources for development...) would probably be a bad move. Releasing it to fill the void between two GTA titles though is an excellent move - people were hungry for a new great game in that genre last August, and Saints Row delivered a great experience. I will surely buy the next Saints Row when it comes out.

I think Saints Row was a great game on the 360; way better than any GTA-game to date. Games like San Andreas and Vice City look like c*ap compared to Saints Row. But GTA4 will of course raise the bar in this genre. I only hope that they have adopted some of the superior gameplay mechanics (compared to earlier GTA games) from Saints Row.

I really don't see the big deal, 360 lost Saints Row 2 :), that's the way I see it if you see it your way  

one by one...

1. ps3 is still main SKU, confirmed 1080p 60FPS, as for 360 ? nothing confirmed.

2. GTA was never exclusive only timed

3. hopes and dreams, and as dissidia came to be announced as a psp title those dreams get smaller, heres hoping heresis or whatver that game is called is on 360.

4. MGS4 rumors continue on here because of lemmings who cant comprehend, even after kojima owned them they persist.

5. funny cus EA the biggest 3rd party dev came out and said they are concentrating most of its games on ps3 cus of the processing power,m even their FPS games which is odd if you ask me. and criterion said they are concentrating on ps3 with burnout 5, as did pandemic with mercenaries 2, as are epic with UT3.

At least you have a realistic view when comparing the games, unlike the weirdos that for some mysterious reason loooove GTA while they hate Saints Row :) I believe that 99 percent of those people haven't even tried Saints Row since Saints Row is clearly a lot better than any GTA game to date, there's no denying that.

This is a fun development though and shows how easy people are led to support their console platform of choice based on feelings and hate, and nothing more:

1) Last year Saints Row was only on 360. All the cows call it a cheap GTA-knockoff that they have no interest in. And claimed that GTA4 will trash it (which it probably will, but last August the next GTA was at least 15 months away anyway, so why wait 15 months for an urban sandbox game when a new great one is out?!?)

2) News that Saints Row is being ported to the PS3. All the cows rejoice. It must be a great game after all because it comes to he PS3. 

3) Saints Row is cancelled on PS3. All the cows go: I knew it was a crap game...

The reality is that Saints Row couldn't be released at the same time as GTA4. But it shows that porting a huge game from the 360 to PS3 is not easy. If it was an easy port, THQ would release it now while the PS3 is suffering a major dry spell.Berserker_2

So by that option, the developer would be smart to pull the game's port and just work on SR2 for a 2008 release when the whole GTA4 hype dies complely. The Darkness and Ninja Gaiden Sigma is just the start. 360 is suffering pretty well too of this dry spell.

If we're talking specifics to just one console's dry spell, it exists for Wii, 360 and PS3 currently. But as a whoel for consoles and PC, then not at all. Although my DS has been getting a lot of love lately. I got that Pokemon fever again.

Cows aren't missing much IMO. SR improved a lot of things for that genre, but overall it was very blah and nothing special IMO.
