Sakaguchi lost it, Lost Odyssey won't deliver

Creator of Final Fantasy? Maybe, but he's a simple has-been.

The best FF game he directed was FFIV... actually, i'm not even sure if he directed it.

I had high hopes for blue dragon, but what the heck, he just had to pull two geniouses down with him (Toriyama, Uematsu).

I guess we won't hear him bashing square anymore. haha.

Let's end the Lost Odyssey hype, shall we? the game looks just as generic as Spirits Within (another Sakaguchi masterpiece :|)

There never was much LO hype to begin with. I wouldn't count it out for a AA title. Same with Blue Dragon.

I'm more interested in Eternal Sonata and ME though. :wink:

FFXII = critically acclaimed/AAA here in Gamespot. Your hate for the game does is not near the general opinion created by the media (gamerankings, and of course what we all go by, GS).

The entire tales series is anime trash :P haha, but i can see why some people like it.

There's nothing wrong with re-releasing FF games, as long as the new ones come out. and that's what's happening. i wouldn't mind a remake of the PlayStation FFs.

hey man, so do i. i wanted to give sakaguchi another chance after almost bankrupting Square with Spirits Within...

i did give him another chance, which is Blue Dragon. I was really excited about the game, being a huge fan of Toriyama and Uematsu's work... it seemed like an awesome team behind the game, but little did we know that one man can ruin everything.

There are plenty of good RPG franchises out there.

You don't have to rely solely on Final Fantasy or Mistwalker.

Suikoden, Shadow Hearts, Persona, Disgaea, etc etc etc.

There is more to RPG series than Final Fantasy.

Sakaguchi was always rather overrated as game designer especially after success of Final Fantasy VII, because Sakaguchi is the father of Final Fantasy. I personally am not really interested in what Sakaguchi does.

What I'm interested is what Matsuno will do now that he is out of SquareEnix. Last time I heard, he was interested in making games for Wii.

Nope. He is just at Mistwalker to be a face and nothing more. Artoon developed Blue Dragon. That is the team behind Blinx and Vampire Rain. Expecting an epic Final Fantasy-type game out of Artoon is just plain ridiculous.

actually hes just the executive producer of lost odyssey, and Daisuke Fukugawa is the director and he made the battle system for final fantasy tactics and kiyoshi shigematsu is helping sakaguchi with the story.

Um, yes there is, that's how System Wars works. A game is not an "official flop" until Gamespot reviews it. If Gamespot gives it a 8.5, then it's not a flop since it's hyped as AA here.

82% isn't bad at all. I don't understand why you were expecting AAA from it. I was expecting a game with a good story and good gameplay. I'll save my AAA hype for PS3 JRPGs. 360 really doesn't have Japanese support so IMO the best it was getting was AA titles, which I have nothing against considering some of the best RPGs are AA. As big of a FF fan I am, I believe it is highly overrated.

Looks like we need a new hype thread and then later a official hype thread because the hype was that this is the FF killer and an AAA game. Theres stil time to change that hype.

82% isn't bad at all. I don't understand why you were expecting AAA from it. I was expecting a game with a good story and good gameplay.
