GT has historically been on a platform that absolutely dominated the competition in sales. This time... not so much. Even Halo 3 only sold to about half of the world's Xbox owners. Without 40-50 million PS3s installed by the time GT5 releases, Sony won't be able to repeat GT1-4's successes.
[QUOTE="Couth_"]I think the amount GT5 sells in Europe and Japan alone will easily beat Forza3 sales worldwide. That's not indicative of quality though.Liquid_DCthis. i had high expectations for GT5 but that damage limiting to only a fraction of the cars has turned me off. AA at best now tbh :(
dude over 4 Million as a demo!:| it will sell, but will it be good?:? i highly doubt itGT has historically been on a platform that absolutely dominated the competition in sales. This time... not so much.

Well GT3 is the best selling game ont he PS2 and it came out before the PS2 even sold 10 million consoles. The PS3 is already at a higher fanbase with 24 million before GT5 releases.SO it's safe to say that an install base of 40-50 million isn't necessary for the most popular Playstation game to sell over 10 million copies.Heck,GT5P alone sold 4 million copies and that was while the PS3 was barely 20 million sold. You act like people wom't buy the console just for GT5.
As for Forza selling as good as GT5? I doubt it,because Forza is not a big franchise.Just because it's releasing this holiday season does not mean anything, especially since there will be another Need for Speed this fall and most 360 owners are more interested in Left 4 Dead,Halo and MW2.
honestly for how good forza is it tends to sell like crap. I don't think that forza 2 really sold a whole lot until it got bundled up, and I remember reading the original forza sold horrible (like less than 1 million).
I expect GT5 to sell better, but it doesn't look that well either. PS3 games aren't really selling, and I'd be surprised if GT5 breaks that trend. Of course the ps3 price drop may make all the difference. Of course MS will probably drop the price of the 360, and I don't see why a consumer would pick a ps3 over a cheaper 360 since almost every game looks pretty much the same.
Anyway I'm going to guess 2 million for forza 3, and 3 million for GT5 after the first 6 months of release.
I believe GT5 will outsell FM3…
One factor I believe (over a lifetime) that will help GT5 do that is "I Assume" there will not be another GT for 4-5 years..With more time in the market..One can guess it will have greater sales say over T10's history(FM4should be out in two years)…..That alone will dictate sales for FM3 by having a shorter time in the market…
E3 really sold that game imo. I got interested in playing it just watching the guy talk about it, and I don't even like playing those games.
If Forza built itself up at all this gen as a recognizable game for sim racing fans then I'm sure Forza 3 will sell a lot.
Gran Turismo has remained popular for 12 years, however, so I'm sure that'll sell a lot too.
I doubt it, GT is a pretty casual heavy game. I bet most that like GT don't know that Forza even exists... Vadamee
LOLWUT?
Gt has always had a huge following in EU.. me and my friends or else people i know into gaming all of us had GT games since PS1 era.... In EU Football(soccer) & Racing games always sell like crazy..
However Forza series has gained a good reputation in EUand am sure Forza3 will enjoy great sales.. still though have my doubts whether it will sell close to GT5..
I'm doing myself a favour and get both games :P

AA at best now tbh :( I agree, that is a huge blow considering forza has full damage, and from what Ive seen, its much better too. Hopefully, what we've seen so far isnt indicative of final product. Otherwise, forza 3 will take the crown.
I dont know. GT5:p is looking to overtake Forza 2 in sales... The demo.
It all depends on how good it is. In Europe at least it'll do very well. Especially with WRC.
But then with NASCAR Americans will love this game too...
It seems to suit all territories.
Whenever i buy PS3 games, they tend to do really well. So my theory is if i buy GT5, Forza will fail :O lets see...n00bkidJust like GT4 failed against Forza 1 ?!?!
