Same Eurogamer NX 'Leak/Rumor' Posted Over 2 Months Ago?! (+More NX Info?)

This could be complete and utter coincidence, but too many things line up EXACTLY with what this guy said back in May 17th.

NX is a hybrid

- removable screen

- you can customize the controls

- the chip is named Tegra N1 (possibly Nintendo's NVidia custom SoC) and it is more powerful than X1

- the price of screen is U$ 100 or 200 depending on the size/resolution

- controls cost U$ 50 each.

- will facilitate eGPU's

The above link needs google translated and it's not the best to be honest, but someone else has translated it better. Some key points can be extracted from his OP and subsequent posts following the Eurogamer article. I don't know what to make of it, maybe it's BS but i thought it was topic worthy.

But everything is in a box with connextions that are well organized and easy to plug in.

Soon details about this rumour will be released. I am just letting you all know early. The chip used is a Tegra N1, more powerful than Nvidia's X1.

The purposed price will be of $300, the LCD will be sold for $100-200 depending on the size and resolution. The controllers will be extra to assemble on it in a portable form for $50.

It will support cartridges to give it more functionalities of future connections and consume less energy, making the storage capacity higher..

Or if you buy the console with less memory, this will be expanded by the cartridge itself according to the game, just like old days with the same style as games with Chip FX on the SNES.

Then, after the Eurogamer article hit, he posted some more info which i will summarise:

He acknowledges their article saying he still knows more than what they leaked. Reconfirming that the successor to the Tegra X1 will be used as the GPU so maybe he was initially referring to the X2. According to his source it will be modular external GPU's. ie. graphical capabilities can be increased through the dock - this works like a cartridge module increasing the graphical capacity. He goes on to explain the concept saying the basic console (in handheld form) will run in 720p, 30fps. Then when docking for playing on the TV using the expansion module will play at PS4 level capabilities, with likely future models for 4K TV's speculated for future upgrades. He also says that Microsoft are aware of this and are looking at this concept of modular expansion for Scorpio.

He then goes on to explain about the mobile integration, he uses pokemon in his example but basically saying that they will use mobile to entice casuals back, by using mobile and apps as a kind of streetpass accessory drawing the user to NX - where mobile app data for games can be exchanged between users then transferred back to the portable for a more competitive gaming experience. AR, NFC & amiibo will also be a focus using mobile to leverage the functionalities of NX, enhancing different gameplay scenarios through AR.

It will be financial suicide for Nintendo if the NX is not more powerful than the wii u, even at PS4 level I feel they're pushing their luck what with the neo and ms bone upgrades.

I'll reserve judgement until I know more though.

All ANYONE around here is going on is based on rumors. Stop being such a rabid jackass. I'm discussing the rumor that has been reported here, not the Eurogamer rumor. At the end of the day none of us know shit, so stop pretending like there havent been rumors that said it was PS4 level. Use the search feature or try google. Not that hard.

@Bigboi500: You should probably ask sheep that question. They are the ones trolling the Internet to find anything to say the NX will be powerful as whatever they have benchmark in their sheep brains. If it isn't at least X1, developers will leave it in the dust just like the WiiU or give it shovelware like the Wii.

I can't believe there are still people who throw around those terms so freely these days. I think most of us are past those petty and incorrect labels.

Also, it's kinda dumb to say a handheld needs x amount of power for devs to work with it.

I like PS4 most this gen, but I damn sure am not a cow. Last gen I preferred PS3, before that it was Gamecube. People change their minds over time, so it's stupid as all hell to label someone a sheep just for defending Nintendo in a discussion.

Actually, one tidbit from the car-crash text in the OP (mangled via translation I guess) is the idea of a connection between the NX and smart devices. I hadn't thought of this before.

Nintendo has previously said that they want to leverage smart devices as an entry point for their proprietary hardware - but I hadn't given much thought to the mechanics of it. If the NX has some way of directly integrating/talking to smart devices, that could be quite significant depending on how it is handled.

An example might be that you go out and catch Pokémon with Pokémon Go, and then when you turn on your NX, it can automatically synchronise with your phone via an NX app - and you can quickly and effortlessly extend your Pokémon Go experience in the context of a full NX game. I think that's a very cool idea.

Nothing we've heard indicates that this kind of integration will remotely happen, but still, I think the idea is fun. This would be a truly unique approach that would radically distance NX from PS4 and Xbox One - it would quite literally be a device that interfaces more deeply with smart devices than anything else. If there is a way to easily extend upon smart phone apps with NX, it could be a big deal.

Well... They still sold quite a few 3DS's. So even if this is going to be the only(?!) awesome handheld of the next generation, that would surely sell well.

Though... I recently watched some quotes of what has actually officially been said to investors and such... And I'm starting to think that the NX is 2 or more separate platforms. So maybe a console and a handheld separately. Because Iwata did say that they are not uniting handheld and console. So that goes directly against all these rumors. Their lips are sealed so tight that they probably eat soup through their nostrils.

This thing will flop due to the sheer number of moving parts, not power shortcomings.

Nintendo wasn't able to properly market and explain the Wii U and its tablet -- how could one deduce that they could properly market and explain a platform that has an LCD screen that you buy for $100-$200 dollars, controllers for $50, a separate dock for $Unknown, and is there a base that we're missing that costs $Unknown.
