I don't have enough room on my "desk" for this.
It is glorious. Now THAT is how you innovate. You don't take away functionality. You improve it. Bread_or_Decide
Then where's the scroll wheel?
you really need to look into gamepads they are a lot better for precise and quick controls.

I hope you're kidding, 'cause an analog stick isn't nearly as precise as a mouse.
it'd be hard to redesign it. You would still need those cables sticking to that base for the directional feedback.looked at a couple of vids. impressive.
but the tech is more suited to replaceing the analogue sticks on a controller than a mouse. obhiously it would need a redesign to work while holding it in ure hand.
very interesting though..if i get the opportunity to try one i certinaly will....but ill stick to a mouse for now.

it would be hard to redesign indeed. off the top of my head i cant really think of a way of doing it (but then there not paying me big bucks :P).
[QUOTE="KodiakGTS"]I'm surprised at the amount of bashing going on in this thread. I mean, yeah, it is expensive, but considering few if any of you have actually tried the thing I don't see how you can have such negative impressions of it. Are people really that attached to the mouse as an input device? After watching the videos posted my impression is that it's a cool device that I may be interested in if the price is reasonable. Especially given the more realistic physics engines being used every year I could see something like this being very popular in the future.

The mouse needs to be reinvented. This could be a good start. Can't keep using the same thing forever.
i disagree on the mouse front.....i cant think of anything that could do a better job in a PC setting (on a desk basically) when it comes to games. not the wiimote and certainly not that.
however on the keyboard front.....lots of room for improvement there imho. im not sayin replace it (its very handy for shortcuts) but something to compliment it would be nice. maybe somethign like the nunchuck or perhaps a device that looks like a scroll ball but it has an analogue stick and motion sensor instead of a ball. something to make leaning and moving and ducking feel more natural and controlled in a game.

I second that
Mouse is the best, by far... enjoy aimbotting on consoles =)
As was mentioned earlier, this device is really just a joystick turned on it's side. It's a force feedback analog with a gun on the end. It is worse than the mouse for the exact same reasons an analog stick is worse such as limited range of motion, limited speed, and preset turning rate when on the edges of the gate (ie all the way left, right, etc.). One of the main reasons the mouse is so good is because you can pick it up...
I am the owner of a Special Edition Falcon, and it really can be a fun, unique controller for games (esp. Half Life 2, though I want to get the gun attachment to make it even better). However, in its current state, it is not up to par with mice for general use. Since the arms move in and out as well as side to side, you can think you're moving the cursor while actually doing nothing. You have to have enough desk space to keep this in the proper position for mouse use - keeping it off to the side is a good way to develop RSI or a cramped neck. In addition, since there aren't any mouse drivers available for it yet, you have to keep the NVent software open and in the background for general mouse function.
I don't think this device has any shot at displacing a mouse. This is a specialty product, made for gamers looking for something new and geeky. It would also be a great device for 3D modelers, but I'm not aware of any drivers for that use.
looks interesting... but the price tag is quite large and If this became big could you imagine the anti-violent gamers society jumping on this one with the pistol shaped controller...
p.s I know that there are many light guns(e.g Time Crisis e.t.c) but at the current time it could be interesting.
