i think it's bs

Charging people money to play games they already own and played is genius. This is just another example of why there is no backwards compatibility.
Anyone surprised?
Right? Sony flat out said they will be remastering more PS3 games when TLOUR came out. Why is this news worthy?
@Pray_to_me: I've probably been gaming longer than you have lived....and I sure don't remember this many remasters this early in any gen cycle. Good talk though.
I'm curious. Did you get the Master Chief Collection?
You know he did. And he was lovin' that shit.
Although I'm pretty annoyed by the whole remastered thing and it's well known that I think Uncharted 2 is one of the most poorly designed games in my PS3 collection, I wonder if I'd find myself changing my tune if they made an inFAMOUS remastered collection.
It's just that these remastered games get such a minimal upgrade.
Whelp, for me this could work since if I get a PS4 someday, TFOU and this collection would be on my buy list since I've never played them and then see what all the fuss was about. Now, I'd need Sony to delver like MS did with MCC and make the entire package with all DLC included and then some for 60 bones plus throw in TFOU as an extra bonus on top of that. :P

From your posts I have gathered that games you really like are somehow a showcase of top tier game design and games you don't like are objectively flawed beyond reason. You can't just say you like or don't like a game. You have to turn your armchair game designer head on and rip it apart/praise it to death for whatever reason. Uncharted 2 is so far from what you describe it hurts.

I have far too much to back up why I say the things I do about Uncharted 2. But to sum up, it's more of a back seat driver type of game. You're along for the ride and your influence is mostly minimal. I'm not into that kind of experience.
I personally like my input to be at the forefront of my gaming experience. That's basically where I'm coming from.
Good for people who didn't own a ps3 last gen.
This is expected along with a gears of war collection from Microsoft. They are quick money cause people buy them, so why wouldn't they do this?
If it wasn't obvious before, it's becoming more obvious every day that the new consoles are a big o'l whomp whomp.
I hate most remasters as how as the next person but some games don't count lol TLOU remastered is my most played game on ps4 lol

Of course...best value in video games ( too bad it didn't work properly ) but I also played TLOU on the PS4 ( best game on the PS4, till BB ). That doesn't negate the fact that this is getting out of control.
GTAV
TLOU
MCC
Resident Evil
Tomb Raider
Grim Fandango
Saints Row IV
Metro Redux
Dark Souls II
DMC
Borderlands
Teraway Unfolded
GoW3
Just to name a few........
If people want to buy them, I don't see the problem. Personally won't be getting them, already have on PS3 and not that interested in playing again.
But TC how can you be happy with MCC but be concerned about this? They aren't fundamentally different.

The only remaster I have bought this gen is GTAV, which is because I didn't get it when it came out on Gen7. So, the funny part about all this is, while you're "drawing a line in the sand" with Uncharted of all franchises, you have been a much bigger part of the 'problem' than I have.
It's all a bit.. I dunno.. Weird? You're picking and choosing which remasters represent value and which ones don't. That's a flat admission that gamers, even such as yourself, are finding value in these.

I am fine with some but look at the list above and it's not even a complete list and I'm sure there are even more to come. I think there is something fundamentally wrong with that.
@Shewgenja: I'm saying throw a nice package together here and there...if it was MCC and the Uncharted series only, I wouldn't say a thing but look at all those remasters. Copy & paste and slap definitive version on it. You have to admit 343 had to put a ton of work into MCC and they still couldn't pull it off completely...that was a crazy package to put together.....most of these are not like that. I don't have a beef with the UC remaster....it was just the tipping point that made me say enough already.

It will get better, hopefully. With any luck at all, Bloodborne will at least prove to publishers that Gen8 is ready for new IP and the time for playing it safe is over. On the flip side of the coin, I can't help but remember how many developer studios went belly up in the transition to Gen7. We may hate the remasterthon now (I'm not a big fan, obviously, and have refused to back it with my money) but I'd rather have a year of turbulence if it means that we don't lose any studios in this transition like we did with Gen7.
That's my gut feeling about this. Just man to man on that subject. I also think that the thinking at Sony HQ is that since the American market is opened up to Playstation again, there is an audience for all these big budget titles from Gen7 they weren't able to reach before. So, there is definitely a cashcow component to all of this. Getting everyone primed up for Uncharted 4, for example, is just smart when you think about it. We all know that people who skipped on the PS3 last gen will eat up good games and it will have the result of boosting Uncharted 4 sales.
@chikenfriedrice: Why is this a bad thing? Obviously, Sony is getting buyers from the Wii (and maybe even 360). It's good to offer the "best of PS3" on the PS4 to strengthen the PS4's library and to give new customers to the PlayStation platform access to those titles.

I get your point about the marketing....MCC to get people ready for Halo 5, UC Remaster to get people ready for UC4 and that makes sense. There is no need for that many Tomb Raiders or Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition, God of War 3 ( for some reason ) etc....that's my main beef. I know this thread is about UC but my thing is the bigger picture of how this gen has started and the trend that is happening. It's hard and risky to make new IP's but that's why we buy consoles, not to play the same games over and over with a new coat of paint.
You and I are not too far apart on this though :P
The usual "sky is falling attitude". Remasters (obviously) aren't meant for gamers who already played the games. Just ignore them if you already played them, jeez. It's not like A team developers stop making new games to focus on ports. Ports are done by other random teams, and guess what? Actually make money for more new games!
I know this really sucks to the so called 'Core gamer' but it's a wise business move if you want to gain customers who are looking at owning a Ps3 so they can play the stellar first party exclusives, they may shift over to buying a Ps4, it also encourages those people who need to trade in there Ps3's to upgrade but don't want to because they feel they will not be able to play Certain games if they give up there Ps3's.
Now they are free to Trade in there Ps3's and upgrade without having to worry about whether they will be able to play the exclusives they know and love form the Ps3.
The only problem with this is that it Historically shafts some consoles, the PS3's greatest Exclusives are no longer Exclusive and the best Exclusive on both The xbox consoles to date are no longer exclusives thanks to the MCC collection.
Thew same way the gamecube was shafted over REmake when REmake went to the Wii.

I agree with the basic idea of this post but I think the remasters seem out of hand to people because the lack of compelling exclusives on PS4. Once the PS4 library actually gets good, I think the remasters will be less of an issue to people.
Lems are some stupid weird double standard having bastards.
Damn I mean they shout and cheer for any mention of remasters of their old shit (MCC, Alan Wake, Gears) but when Sony does it with their new system they lose their shit, screaming for sony be be lynched
Hey idiots, it DOESN'T hurt you and you DON'T have to buy so what is the problem? Fed up with xbox fanboy hypocritical crying and bitching.

There is a difference between crying and bringing up the issue to have a reasonable discussion about this remaster trend. Calm yourself child. This is a gamer issue not a fanboy issue.
Uh, ps4 is turning into an HD version of the PS3 with the same exact games. A few new ones sprinkled here and there.
Really great for everyone that missed those phenomenal titles .
Remastered games aint hurting noone ... If youve played already the originals , nothing to worry about . If you havent though ! Great. I dont get all the whines and hate
I think it just comes down to it feeling like there isn't a whole lot of new stuff released on PS4 and Xbox One.
Most likely you are right.
If thats the case people should take into consideration various things before they start hating imho ...
First of all PS4 does okish considering the amount of AAA/AA titles it has on Metacritic. More than any other current gen console by far. For the ones that still beleive it doesnt ... lets not forget that Sony was supporting PS3 even few months prior of PS4s release with big blockbuster titles when other companies let their consoles to die or in a serious life support either many years before next-gen arrives , so they could easily put a huge amount of effort ( time and money in short ) for future titles for their future products . When Sony gamers were playing massive titles again and again each year , some other gamers were letting their favorite console collecting dust ( majority even ) . People easily forget ...
Consider also that Sony was ( and still is ) in a multibillion losses streak when at the same time fully supported PS3 when they had all the excuses in the world to stop doing so ... Where was Nintendo and MS back then when PS3 exclusives were releasing one after the other ? Nowhere ... ( specially Nintendo with Wii considering it won last gen plus they made huge profits out of it ) ... If Sony was about to let PS3 have Wiis lifespan all those great AAA/AA caliber exclusives would have been PS4 exclusives instead. This is what happened with Wii U for example ...
Considering all the above , Sony does an okish job up till now , imho . Nothing extraordinary but nothing hateful either under those circumstances and considerations. Personally i welcome remasters since i dont own a PS3 but definitly i will own a PS4 in some point and i cant see how remastered version of great games affecting anyone .... :)
That one was a given. Whoever wasnt expecting that one is an idiot, seriously.
I hate this gen thus far. Its just a rehash of the last one. And Sony was the one who started with this bullshit. Promised tons of new games and only delivers remasters after remasters. Never again Sony, never again. The PS4 was my last console from you (or from anyone as a matter of fact). PC all the way for me from now on
You act as if there are millions of people that haven't played it yet? Some really want to try uncharted and have no intention doing it through PS Now.
yeah i might want to try uncharted actually but I can't see a reason why I would buy a ps4 for that when i can get a ps3 for next to nothing
