I don't really know what my preferred platform is of yet because I recently started PC gaming and loving every bit of it, so it will take me some time to adjust the change and be familiar. So I'm sitting on the fence between the PS3 and PC, hence I should talk about both!
PS3:-
- Updates and installs can be a pain in the ass. PS3 is a console, not a PC, so it shouldn't be like that.
- PS Store, yep, I agree with you ShadowMoses, it could use some improvements. I've found Xbox Live Marketplace to be better and it's easier to navigate.
- The noise from the Blu-ray drive! I have a new CECH-3000 model and the noise is HORRIBLE when it reads the disc!
- Many bad multiplats that are better on the 360, this really annoyed me as a PS3 owner. Very frustrating! I paid a lot more for my console than 360 owners so why did I get a 2nd class service?!?! I hate having to check the comparison websites such as Lens of Truth before purchasing a multiplat. I shouldn't have to do that, I should have the peace of mind knowing that the game will work on my console identically with other platforms without checking anything. Life isn't as good as adverts, huh?
PC:-
- Some console-oriented games do not work very well on PC. They tend to be buggier than the native platform. Damn lazy devs.
- Stupid DRMs getting in the way when I start games!
- Technical problems are likely to happen.
GamerwillzPS
Why do you go to Lens of Truth? Pixel counting comparison sites like those are just made to make fanboys happy for money. On top of this there are far too many variables that come into play, like what kind of TV's they are using, are they on the same settings, is the camera relibale ect....they are unrealiable.
In reality you won't see a difference between multiplats, aside from a few rare exceptions. You don't need stupid fanboy websites to tell you otherwise. Only people who are insecure about their system purchase go to those sites because it makes their buyers remorse easier to cope with.
I edited stuff on my list.
sonic1564
Your list is biased. It is wrong, all the people you listed in your PS3 section are the logical ones and everyone else are the fanboys.
Says the guy who spends his time on SW justifying to himself and others how one piece of plastic is better than another. Get a grip on reality, dumbass.Only people who are insecure about their system purchase go to those sites because it makes their buyers remorse easier to cope with.
ShadowMoses900
super nintendo! is my prefered platform
---- flaws--- cant hardly find games for it any more , , - thanks gamestop for screwing that up
PC - No longer gets Halo games, software and hardware problems occur more frequently than I'd like, can't resell games.
PS3 - Most of the exclusives are bad and/or very short. Online system sucks and is always laggy for me. Updates take forever to download. Flimsy controllers (like seriously the build quality of the 360 controller is a next level compared to these cheap devices).
PC:
XBOX:
PC
1. Patching some games can be a pain.
2. Older classic games can be hard to run.
3. Drives can be a pain. Especially for some hardware like 7.1 headphones or certain keyboards.
Xbox 360
-Lack of Exclusives
-Paying for online and a few things.
-Badly Produced Products (Headsets, Console itself)
-Overheating
-Advertisements on Hud
PS3
-Insane Updates
-No cross game chat.
-Slow Downloads
Wii
-Terrible Online
-Dated Hardware
-Sometimes useless waggle or bad control schreme in general.
PC
-Games not always working perfectly. (Have to do work arounds)
-DRM
-Multiple accounts
Well when I decide to play a game on my platform of choice, there is an amazingly high chance I can't play it. Maybe its not optimized, maybe it has an issue with my current OS, maybe some other stupid issue with my CPU or the download or what f***ing ever. When I download or put in a disc for a game on Wii, or Xbox or PS3, it works, 100% of the time unless the game itself is a massive pile of crap or the disc is scratched to hell. Not so on PC gaming.
Also, overly complicated, DRM sucks butt, AAA big budget titles to enjoy are not quite on the same frequency level (lots of indie titles though), one part of my rig could start dying or be a bit old and screw me out of gaming completely (my drivers are having issues lately, now I can't game for long before a crash occurs so I have to replace my GPU, I've had it for less then a year), hardware can be less reliable (actually fits with the last thing), no splitscreen support, and its not all out pure gaming and entertainment machine so while it excels at gaming, I do have to be willing to put up with more in work and costs since its not a pure gaming machine.
Otherwise, I think the PC is my platform of choice. Not by a wide margin, its merely another optional in my tools to game with (being a manticore is neat), but it is where a lot of my buddies are and Steam really simplifies what was once an overly complicated platform. Its still pretty complicated, but now after writing an article or doing some work its easy to just hop right onto a game, whether its a simple flash game or a nice complicated game like Company of Heroes or a game to enjoy with buddies like Battlefield 3, plus best version is usually the case (64 players >>>>> 24 players). But again, I love all my systems equally, and sometimes when an amazing game like Uncharted or Gears 3 comes out I switch opinions rapidly since I tend to vastly prefer console exclusives to PC exclusives.
Xbox 360
My only complaint is that it has too many exclusive games, how am i supposed to finish all of Skyrim, Dark Souls, Witcher 2, Mass Effect 3 in such short notice ?
They should really consider putting less huge games at the same time frame, because people must do other thing that game all day
And soon will flood the market with Halo 4, Fable Journey, Dust Elysian Tale, Crimson Dragon etc that are also huge in game time
I don't really have a preffered platform, so I'll do it for both the consoles.
PS3:
The controller sucks, its too light, the analog sticks are awkward, and the "triggers" aren't curved.
The updates are a mood kill everytime a friend comes over and we wanna play a coop game that i haven't touched in a while and we have to sit through some hour long update.
Xbox 360:
First party selection is garbage nowadays, nothing compelling besides ForzaHaloGears.
NO LOGITECH STEERING WHEEL SUPPORT!! This is so frustrating, because G27 are so cheap nowadays and I can't use it for Forza. Luckily, Fanatecs are also cheap (for fanatecs), and I just bought a CSR Wheel/Pedal bundle for $250, which is a great price for the quality of wheel you get.
PS3:
-Well, this isn't a complaint about just the PS3, one I have about consoles in general: the way they handle online. Xbox live you have to pay for, PSN is free but laggy at times and I hate the updating system (can't do nothing while system is updating, games take a while too), and wii... who wants to bother with friend codes in 2012 ? I've probably been spoiled by PC but I'm sure consoles will catch up.
PC:
-Getting bad ports late. Sure on other systems you can get bad ports too but on PC they make you wait for them.

Yes, having too many great exclusives is certainly one of Xbox 360s bigger problems.
Micrsoft has listened to the outcries of fans and has made great studios like Rare and Lionhead work on crap like Fable Heroes and Kinect Sports.
Also they let studios like Bungie and Bizarre go to Activision so they wouldn't have an overload of exclusives anymore.

PC:
1.Nothing is simple, building computers is boring and frustrating.
2.Not every game I buy on PC will work flawlessly
3.PC's are LOUD, I play with headphones to cancel out the loud ass fan noise
JangoWuzHere
I love building computers, then again thats also my job in real life. Also if you're PC is loud then you're doing something wrong as most Gaming PC's are whisper quiet.
PC:
Running old games can be difficult.
Having to make multiple accounts on different websites for downloading games.
I think the clock on the bottom right corner of my screen is wrong and every time I change it it reverts back to what it was.

Perhaps it's reverting back to the time set in the BIOS.
Predictable lol.[QUOTE="Michael0134567"][QUOTE="PAL360"]
Coming from you, i knew this was a 'PS3 has the best graphics' thread in disguise

Pay for Live
Kinect
ShadowMoses900
No.
You 2 guys are just fanboys that can't accept the truth. Stop being so paranoid, why do you always think my threads have some hidden fanboy agenda? Your wrong.
I stopped reading there.

Not really correct. If you're using a card like Nvidia Fermi-based one, with hefty power consumption, fans can get loud under heavier loads, especially if it's the reference model...
My "old" reference 580 GTX would start getting annoying under heavier gaming loads, and I haven't even been OC'ing,or anything. However, due to an accident with aftermarket cooler installation,I had to replace it,so I picked an Asus 670 GTX DC2,that one is indeed whisper-quiet,even under heavy loads like Crysis 2.
I also applied a very nice OC to it,and some fan curve adjustments keep both the temps and noise well under control...
This thread is important because if you choose to accept everythign your given then you won't ask for improvements and thus you end up with medocrity. The only way for these companies to improve and make better systems is for you to demand better.ShadowMoses900LOL, like posting on a gaming forum matters. Anyway, mine: PC: - DRM - All type of errors. - Not enough action adventures & hack&slash games. PS3 - Update - Noise (my fat PS3 in particular) - Mandatory install. PSP-3000 - Lack of games & support - Battery life. - UMD sometimes make noise.

360: thank god for xbl because the lack of new IP's is starting to wear on me ...Hopefully they're working on nextbox stuff
ShadowMoses900
Do you mean XBL Arcade Games? Those seem to be a mixed bag, you find some good gems and some bad ones. Perhaps MS is working on new games for next gen, I expect the next Xbox to be announced next year at E3 honestly. With a release date in either late 2013 or early 2014.
Honestly, why would they? As much as I want to see some new 1st party IPs from MS, their current business model works. Lets face it, a new exclusive is a dicey proposition from a corporate profit standpoint.PC (Preferred):
-Game errors and for some reason some games are unable to launch. (Steam related)
-Servers tend to stop responding and drops everyone from the match. (Steam related)
-DRM and poor optimization causes game errors. (Steam & thanks EA)
-Community feels a bit more isolated since some companies are beginning to use Steam obligatory. (CA for example)
PS3
-Expensive games
-Removal of backwards Compatibility is bull crap :(
-Usually the worst in the bunch when in comes to multi-platform comparison.
Xbox360
-Expensive games
-Wont pay for XBL so I don't play it at all anymore
WII
-Expensive games
-besides the occasional annoying controls, nothing really since I don't play it enough to identify flaws.
[QUOTE="tagyhag"]PC. 1. Hardware problems. 2. Literally has about 3 games in average coming out every day but there's no universal store where they all come out so you have to have different accounts in different stores.ShadowMoses900
I can see what you mean with the second point. That has got to be annoying. But it's an open platform so that stuff is bound to happen, but that also means more competition I guess.
yeah, being an open platform gives unlimited freedom, but things are so spread out sometimes :(Please Log In to post.
