Scam Citizen gets $379,254 in one day - world disgusted

They are not even hiding the fact they are a scam.

He doesn't have a PS4, so I wouldn't even bother.

They do get a shitload of money for making a giant spaceship videogame that takes a very long time to make.. But we'll likely get a full enough version of it eventually.

Plus, I enjoy seeing it develop. I'm not backing it, I'm just quietly waiting to see if it becomes something I'd want. Looks really cool so far, but I need to see an almost completed version at least before buying.

"It's a scam". Noo, it's a project in the making, one which several backers currently play and enjoy.

"It will never be finished". Says who? Signs point to the game being worked on with steady updates from the dev. It's going slow I guess, but it's going.

Selling virtual land and ships for the sums the dev is doing is about the only thing I find insane. Not their fault people are dumb enough to purchase though.

I see absolutely no reason to basically pre-order a game that may never be released. Heck it’s worse than a preorder. I can at least cancel or refund a preorder.

@R10nu: Like he said, India was able to send a satellite to Mars at just over 1/3 the cost of this game. And it was faster to develop and send too. Which makes Star Citizen look like a joke.

yeah I know AAA companies rip people off all the time but I dont make a thread about it, I just let people know from time to time when they start feeling bad about their choices.

I'm pretty sure that this game will at least becomes a much better game than Death Stranding.(And since people that actually play this love this game assures me that it's not a scam that people want to believe it is)

While it is their money and they may do with it as they please, there's reason to be concerned when it comes to this amount and how much faith is being put into a Kickstarted project. If Star Citizen fails to deliver, it's going to hold massive repercussions on community funded projects from then on. Confidence in the system will be destroyed, and games that we've gotten so far that never would have made it past the publisher approval process (niche genres), will be lessened or gone altogether.

It's important that SC succeeds due to this, and it's bigger than, "Who cares what people spend their money on, it doesn't concern me". When it comes to this amount of money, yes it does, if you at all care for what Kickstarter provides.

I still find it hilarious people get angry at how other people spend their money.

I am gonna guess this. At near the end of project development cycle, Cloud Imperium suddenly will change the engine that they use due to some broken bug in current build. This needing another 3 years.

I feel bad for PC gamers. Having a Switch helped me realize how much better consoles gamers get it.

While PC Gamers are spamming screenshots and telling us about the mad GFX of some scam project that will be released 7 years from now, a buggy mess selling £1000 of segmented content to lonely men who watch Star Trek (not Discovery), Nintendo users sit quietly in the background enjoying masterpieces on hardware cheaper and infinitely inferior.... because they get by simply with superior presentation and design.

well I backed way back....well a few years ago figured if all i got was squadron 42 for my $35 it was worth it, anyway development and progress were made and right around the hangar roll out and arena commander I was impressed, so I upped my backing, then progress seemed to stall, more ships being added to sales constantly, new features being planned to be added but no real progress, interviews and vague answers being given and suddenly I began to doubt, this continued and eventually I chose to pull my backing as for me the project was in doubt as they had missed development goals repeatedly, and to be fair to CIG they were polite and refunded my money when requested. I don't think the project is a con but I also don't think the project is going to live up to the expectations that are now built up.
