If anyone wants to see the full pledge data they need only look here.

By the way they brought in $563,317 on 11/10/18 and $241,234 on 12/11/18. To date they have raised $195,432,091 from crowd funding.

200mill , i wonder if they can reach 500 before the game is even released.

I'm not sure if you're serious but I do think C.I.G. will have brought in around $230 million (another year of funding at current backing levels) by the time Squadron 42 is released. If Squadron 42 delivers as is a fun game to play (we already know it's going to smoke everything in existence in the graphics department) then they may sell another 5 million copies ($60 per sale = $300,000,000). On the other hand they may well have the majority of people who want to play it on board already and they won't sell many more copies at all.

Hmm, so Squadron 42 is a new full game ? or is it just to please the sheep who can´t seem to get that Star Citizen is probably the biggest con job in the gaming industry.

So you're just another clueless troll then. Thanks for confirming.

I thought we were hermits, not sheep.

They called their event “Citizen Con”.

They are not even hiding the fact they are a scam.

Keep drinking the kool aid and wasting $10,000 on a freaking virtual ship. LMFAO

How is it different from Fortnite or any other games charging for cosmetic skins?

They do get a shitload of money for making a giant spaceship videogame that takes a very long time to make.. But we'll likely get a full enough version of it eventually.

Plus, I enjoy seeing it develop. I'm not backing it, I'm just quietly waiting to see if it becomes something I'd want. Looks really cool so far, but I need to see an almost completed version at least before buying.

Don't really understand the hate.

"It's a scam". Noo, it's a project in the making, one which several backers currently play and enjoy.

"It will never be finished". Says who? Signs point to the game being worked on with steady updates from the dev. It's going slow I guess, but it's going.

Selling virtual land and ships for the sums the dev is doing is about the only thing I find insane. Not their fault people are dumb enough to purchase though.

@MonsieurX:

1. Price. Thousands of dollars for a ship vs a couple dollars for a skin.

2. I hate fortnite and micro transactions and lol at you trying to downplay spending $10,000 on a ship vs $2 for a character skin.

You are justifying spending obscene amounts of money for a ship skin vs a character skin that any one on the planet can afford.

It is sad.

Exactly the same crap, paid cosmetic skin. 1 stupid bastard paying 10 000$ vs 5000 paying 2$, you get the same result.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018-10-13-six-years-later-star-citizen-is-still-raking-it-in

Six years later, Star Citizen is still raking it in

Just under £300,000 made in just one day.

Star Citizen has been in development for six years and it still doesn't have a release date - but the money keeps flooding on in.

The space PC game, which has so far raised nearly $200m, recently held CitizenCon, a gathering of fans and developers for all things Star Citizen.

Off the back of that, the release of a new update, a flashy new trailer and the sale of some new spaceships, developer Cloud Imperium Games saw $379,254 flow into its coffers in just one day.

The following day, on the 11th October, CIG brought in around $320,000. And yesterday, 12th October, around $200,000 came in. Based on this trajectory, by the end of this week, around $1m will have been made.

This marks a giant jump in revenue for the Star Citizen norm. Each day this week prior to the 10th, the game pulled in around $21,000.

One of the things that's unique about Star Citizen is it makes public its revenue, which it's still calling crowdfunding, on its website, so you can see how much money is being made on a monthly, weekly, daily and even hourly basis.

Star Citizen makes the bulk of its money from the sale of virtual spaceships, some of which you can fly now, some you can't. At CitizenCon, CIG released a new spaceship available for a limited time only. The Valkyrie 2948 Liberator edition is only available until 14th October, and it costs £264. There's a bundle with the ship and a raft of extras, including lifetime insurance, for £536.

ome ships are considered so special you can't just buy it, you have to register your interest first. One of these is the Kraken, an enormous capital ship with enough room for 10 players that was revealed this week. Here's the in-universe explanation (when it comes to Star Citizen, pretty much everything's in-universe):

"Interested in commanding a flying fortress and redefining freedom? The Kraken is poised to take the stars by storm, but due to high demand, an extreme and unique production process, and specialized materials, Drake anticipates a limited quality of hulls will be available. Use the form below to register your interest in adding a Kraken to your fleet and changing the universe for the better."

"We offer pledge ships to help fund Star Citizen's development," CIG explains. "The funding received from events such as this allows us to include deeper features in the Star Citizen world. These ships will be obtainable in the final universe, and they are not required to start the game."

Star Citizen is a controversial project and its trials and tribulations are well documented. Still, there are enough people still willing to invest even now, six years after the project launched and with no release date in sight, that hundreds of thousands of pounds are made in just a single day. Fans, clearly, get it. Everyone else? Well, it's a bit of a head-scratcher.

So don't buy it. You're not very bright, sniper.

@elitegaming247: I’ll just wait until it’s a real game and then buy it in a steam sale or from a cd key site for $15 like I do everything else.

I see absolutely no reason to basically pre-order a game that may never be released. Heck it’s worse than a preorder. I can at least cancel or refund a preorder.

@R10nu: Like he said, India was able to send a satellite to Mars at just over 1/3 the cost of this game. And it was faster to develop and send too. Which makes Star Citizen look like a joke.

@MonsieurX: Yes, but the 1 person spending $10,000 on a virtual ship skin is a much bigger idiot than the person who spent $2.

Both are still idiots like you say, but one is a much bigger idiot.

The person who wasted $10,000 could have used that money for a down payment on a car, house, medical lifesaving surgery. Possibities are endless.

The person who wasted $2 simply didn’t drink a coffee for that one day LOL

I never have been able to understand why anyone who is not interested in the game even gives a shit.

yeah I know AAA companies rip people off all the time but I dont make a thread about it, I just let people know from time to time when they start feeling bad about their choices.

but at the end of the day a person is perfectly welcome to spend their money on shitty copy and paste games if they want

You're absolutely right.

Half of the people in this thread crying "Con!!!" in this thread spend their money on lootboxes and crazy microtransactions (skins) in AAA games. Many will never admit it but every year EA, Ubisoft, Activision, etc. are making record profits, and I doubt they are only making money from casual gamers. People with money are free to spend that money however the see fit. It's their money and they worked for it and they can spend it on whatever makes them feel happy. Would I spend $10,000 on a virtual ship? **** no! But I'm not gonna get mad at someone who wants to do so. A lot of human beings spend money on way more superficial things in everyday life. It's hypocritical to turn a blind eye towards AAA publishers' con schemes because you like their games but cry fowl at CIG.

While it is their money and they may do with it as they please, there's reason to be concerned when it comes to this amount and how much faith is being put into a Kickstarted project. If Star Citizen fails to deliver, it's going to hold massive repercussions on community funded projects from then on. Confidence in the system will be destroyed, and games that we've gotten so far that never would have made it past the publisher approval process (niche genres), will be lessened or gone altogether.

It's important that SC succeeds due to this, and it's bigger than, "Who cares what people spend their money on, it doesn't concern me". When it comes to this amount of money, yes it does, if you at all care for what Kickstarter provides.

I am gonna guess this. At near the end of project development cycle, Cloud Imperium suddenly will change the engine that they use due to some broken bug in current build. This needing another 3 years.

Its cliche but this is usually it plays out.

I feel bad for PC gamers. Having a Switch helped me realize how much better consoles gamers get it.

While PC Gamers are spamming screenshots and telling us about the mad GFX of some scam project that will be released 7 years from now, a buggy mess selling £1000 of segmented content to lonely men who watch Star Trek (not Discovery), Nintendo users sit quietly in the background enjoying masterpieces on hardware cheaper and infinitely inferior.... because they get by simply with superior presentation and design.

Oh wells.

PC gamers eat this shit up.

Well you guys pay for PSN, an vastly inferior service. $60 a year times how many million PSN users...

And get more then $60 worth of games to play for free.....per month...

well I backed way back....well a few years ago figured if all i got was squadron 42 for my $35 it was worth it, anyway development and progress were made and right around the hangar roll out and arena commander I was impressed, so I upped my backing, then progress seemed to stall, more ships being added to sales constantly, new features being planned to be added but no real progress, interviews and vague answers being given and suddenly I began to doubt, this continued and eventually I chose to pull my backing as for me the project was in doubt as they had missed development goals repeatedly, and to be fair to CIG they were polite and refunded my money when requested. I don't think the project is a con but I also don't think the project is going to live up to the expectations that are now built up.
