For me, the closest thing to a scary game would have to be Half-Life 2. I don't know why, but the game makes me jump like crazy...

Post yours.

Honestly, F.E.A.R. is the only truly scary game I've ever played. And not the whole "blood and guts" scary but the "jump from your seat" scary. After a while it kind of becomes routine but the first few times it happens it is very effective.

Exmortis, Exmortis 2, Purgatorium

Ben Leffler is a mastermind. :D Aside from good ol' flash games though, Doom 3 was scary back when I played it. I imagine I wouldn't be as scared if I played it today. I think the scariest I played though was Resident Evil 2, I remember when me and my best friend were like 9 years old and playing that game ALL THE WAY TO MIDNIGHT! Back when playing RE2 and thinking midnight made it special were good times.

I don't know.  I don't really get scared.  I played all the resident Evils and Silent Hills, Suffering, Undying and etc.  Out of everything, the only thing that scared me was the dog jumping through the window in RE.  Now that made me jump.  But I don't get scared since i'm desensitized from watching horror films since I was a kid.

Resident Evil 4, on the gamecube, in a dark hotel room. Don't tell me you didn't cringe at the sound of the chainsaw, at least after getting chainsawed the first time.

hands down it FEAR no game has ever put to together horror like that with the visuals, creepy sounds, and ambiance like it did. most horror games just have something creepy that comes out at you but FEAR still gets you scared even when nothings happening

The only scary game I have ever bought was F.E.A.R., and it had its moments, but near the end wasn't even that bad.  I, however, did watch the Silent Hill movie, and I can not see how people would get scared over it.  Disturbed yes, but scared no.  I guess I'm not prone to the whole out of world monster things, but rather to ghosts.  I am more scared of ghosts because I think that they are somewhat real.

Fatal Frame 2.  This game was scary, but then they had to go ahead and double the fear by having twins in the game.

The movie isnt as scary as the game imo, The game gets you more involved with the story and such which makes it grab you in and things happen when you least expect it. It was scary at the time I doubt it would have the same effect on me than it did than. But it is still by far is the best horror game I have ever played.

Well, the scariest game that I've played would have to be F.E.A.R. xD  But besides that, I'd have to go with MGS. I start to panic whenever I get sighted =P

System Shock 2 was the first game to *truly* scare me. After that I'd probably say the only even remotely scary game I've played would probably be FEAR, even though some of what's in the game gets old pretty quick.

Edit: Oops..how could I forget Clive Barker's Undying..that's another one of the few games that've ever been "scary" to me.

OMG, Silent Hill made me crap my pants...(not literally) but it scared the crap outa me. Next game would prolly be FEAR. Then MAYBE  Condemed, but it eventually got to easy to anticipate, so prolly one of the Resident Evil games, like either 4 or Outbreak 1/2

Any of the Silent Hills, but the first two especially. When the little faceless children are walking toward you and you can't see them, but the music is loud and grinding, yeah that got to me. For the second one it was always the twisted world moments and the first time you see pyramid head.

REmake had a few moments like when the dogs jump through the window, first time a zombie tried to open a door, etc. Resident Evil 4 also had a few like the "oven man"...

Ugh, the chainsaw people sucked. Other REs could scare the hell out of you, especially when Nemesis would drop through a window.

Doom 3 was pretty scary during some parts. Most notably when some enemy would spawn out of nowhere, and all around you it turns red with pentograms on the wall. Or the flying dead babies.

My friend tells me that FEAR is a mental torment, and he does not scare easily.

REMake. Hell, I've played all the "scary" games, Doom 3 and the lot. Even Resident Evil 4 has nothing on REMake.

If you havn't noticed, my name is a play on the Crimson Heads from REMake.
