SCEE president Chris Deering predicts hardware sales by 2011

Nintendo DS - 150 million
Wii - 80 million
PS3 - 70 million
PS2 - 90 million
PSP - 70 million
Xbox 360 - 40 million

Mmmm DS and Wii sales seem about right,but the PS3 is gonna have to start selling insanely well from now until 2011 to acheive those sales imo.

So Sony will be buying back PS2's or it will sell 90 million units making the ps2 system base 230 million. (which is unlikely)

The numbers of the PS2 even if its 90 or 190 or 230 million is a reason why Sony should release a "wiimote" copy thats compatible with the PS2/PS3.

I think that may be a bad idea for Sony. Yes making a Wiimote would allow them to get ports of Wii games. Then again it would also make 3rd party companies want to make more Wii games because they can port it on to another system.

if ps3 is at 15 mil by years end they think it will sell 18.3 mil a year for the next 3?????

if wii is at 35 by years end they think its going to sell 15 mil a year for the next 3 years????

there is no way the ps3 will be in the 199-250 price range within the next 3 years and LBP/Gt4 are the only big casual games comming out. if i recall correct GT4 is an 2010 game

square must still think playstation is what it was. then again any thing could happen

Just saying that the price of systems will go down, which will increase sales numbers per year.

Now I think PS3 will easily be at the $199 range within the next 3 years they have to if they exspect these kind of numbers. But even with that the Wii has something PS3 doesn't the Wii mote. Like I said above PS3 will not ever sell on par with the Wii. Wii is a phenomenon.

Actually it does. Sony will only have shipped 23 million PS3s by March of 2009. Now that leaves 9 months in 2009 and 24 months with the years 2010 and 2011. That means they have 33 months to sell 47 million systems. That's basically 1.5 million PS3s a month. The numbers just don't add up even with price drops.

Hmmm, assuming vgchartz is at least accurate within 5 million units i'll say that by the end of 2011 the Sony head feels that:

Wii = 50 million

360 = 30 million

PS3 = 60 million

i just anted to point out what would have to happen inorder for ps3 to get with in spitting range of the wii

but if you want my crystal ball:

wii 90-120 depending on how production and hype goes

ps3 40-60 depending on if it and blu-ray gets adoped and priced at a casual level

360 40-50 if it can stay cheaper and have a better library then the ps3..... its less then the ps3 because its not a bluray player another 17 mil in 3 years after the first 3 has had about 23 seems about fair

now if any system gets another wii sports (not wii sports2) then the numbers could change in their faver greatly

:| How old are you? None us knows if this will come true or not. It is a prediction. a prediction can't be a lie. Even if it's a PR sugar coated one

I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft and Nintendo have announced their "next-gen" consoles by 2010, which makes those PS3 numbers highly unlikely. And a 299$+ console just doesn't fit the market type that is today.

I think we already see a decline in Wii and DS interests unless Nintendo up their game. And Microsoft is going very strong this year, but 09 seems unclear.

What we know so far Sony has a "few" titles that could help them get better sales such as God Of War 3, FFXIII Vs and LBP. But other than that, I don't think Killzone 2 and MAG is going to bring a whole lot of new players to the brand.
