SCEE's David Reeves Calls Out Microsoft Says they make "shoddy machines

When asked about plans for the future by Mcvuk.com, SCEE's David Reeves had these words

"We also grow the market through new products – some work, some don't, that's just the Sony way. And on that point, another thing we have committed to for supporting market growth is putting out quality hardware – you don't grow the market by putting out shoddy machines. So we try to make sure that PS3s have a failure rate of just two to three per cent, which is very low by industry standards."

So what do you think about Reeves words? Is he being a tad cocky?

Talk about hypocrisy.............I won't be forgetting the 4 PS2's I went through anytime soon. They have alot of nerve even mentioning the whole RROD thing after the DRE bit..........at least MS did something about it by extending the warraty 3 years, pretty stand up stuff if you ask me. If my memory serves me correct Sony's solution to the DRE was "what DRE?"FerdMertz

None of them. The first PS2 I had lasted about 3-4 months. When I called about getting it replaced the said they would fix it for free but wanted to charge me well over $100 for shipping or something. The second and third ones both lasted less than 3 months and I returned them to Wal-Mart where I purchased them. The fourth one lasted about 6-9 months and after I got the DRE a handful of times I took it to Gamespot and traded it in for an Xbox before it got too bad off.

I agree. Along with the four that I went through every single one of my friends' PS2's crapped out. On the other hand only one of my friends' 360's have went belly up (2x's). I'm sure I could be proven wrong but the internet is alot more common household product now than it was when the PS2 launched. When the 360 had problems it seemed like the whole world ran to the internet to complain about it. If as many people had the internet back then it would have seemed just as bad.

I cannot take anything Sony says or does seriously after what they did to SWG.

I ultimately swore an oath to not buy anything sony or sony-related... call me a fanboy if you must....

The 30 odd percent number wasn't simply posted by "fanboys." It was based on accumulated sales info from numerous retailers.

DRE has still yet to be given any truly hard numbers from retailers, but lord knows people aren't being forced to ship massive amounts of PS2s back and forth from Sony like Microsoft has to do with the 360s.

Of course that won't keep the Microsoft faithful from claiming that a lawsuit against Sony proves that DRE was somehow worse than RROD.
