Serious Post: Why Buy Xbox 360?

why buy the xbox 360 when there is hardly any exclusive games on the unit? most of the good games are either on pc or ps3. i see no reason to own a 360 when it has so few exclusives and charges you for online when ps3, pc, and soon enough wii will offer it for free.

Well, I suppose that while although a lot of Xbox 360 games will make it to PC eventually, it takes so long, and their so unoptimsed for the platform they end up being 7.0 affairs on the PC.

Still for 2007-2008 games, I haven't seen an announcement for Mass Effect, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey (not an exhaustive list, just some games I want from the 360).

And also, unless your a Hermit, it's poor form to hide behind the PC.

There really aren't a whole lot of GREAT exclusive titles on any current-gen console right now. HaloBox has Perfect Dark, Gears, and Forza 2, PS3 has Resistance and Motorstorm, and Wii has Zelda.

If you bring up the future to argue, then you are using a flawed argument, because the future also includes future consoles and games that we don't even know about yet.

Halo 3, mass effect, and gears of war beg to differ. 3 games, that are the most hyped games and will be some of the highest rated games.nhh12345

No, no, I agree with the topic creator of this thread. Tell me what "great games" you are talking about? I only know of 3, maybe 4. The others are multiplatform games that can be played on the PS3 or PC, and yes, even the....well, you know, the other one.

Last time I checked, Dead Rising, Gears of War, DOA 4, Crackdown, Forza 2, AC6, and Mass Effect aren't on PC.

As for the games that are common to both X360 and PS3. Well you ask why get an Xbox 360 when they're also on PS3. I can turn that around and ask why get a PS3 when those same games are just as good (if not better in some cases) on the X360 for a better price? $200 less to play those same titles.

Ive got a gaming PC, and a 360.

Its relativley cheap and has some great exclusives.

It also offers me my console only multiplat fix.

I mean its almost half as much as a PS3 here in Australia.

360 is more exspensive in the long run. pc can do so much more then 360 and won't cost you much more.

your opinion i perfer not to pay to play online especially when i feel like i am being ripped off. paying to host my own games?!

Nice that you can list 100 games. But how many are actually on the horizon to appear in, say, the next 6-9 months? Go ahead and tell me they'll be coming out over the course of this generation. I can just as easily say Xbox 360 will also have 100 games coming out over the next few years.

Oh and as for which are exclusive. That can't be counted as guarunteed for ANY of those 100 after VF5, DMC4, and AC6.

Again with the "X360's ONLY game worth playing is Gears". That card is so played to death already. I would point out Forza 2, Mass Effect, Dead Rising, DOA 4, AC6... but you'll simply overlook them because they completely obliterate your argument. You will never be able to acknowledge 360's library that is out RIGHT NOW. Why don't you just admit to your blindness, then maybe you can be helped.

Because the 360 has the best games unless you are Japanese and has a great online system I find more fun than on the PC.

The Wii is garbage with crap games.

The Ps3 is garbage with hardly any games.

The PC is for people that are more into the hardware side of gaming and like to build gaming machines - I own a nice PC and can get Crysis but I wouldn't reccommend PC gaming to anyone cause it can be overly expensive and a pain in the ass.

Gears is coming to PC.... oh wow, still another year and a half LATER. I'm enjoying it RIGHT NOW. And there has been absoultely ZERO confirmation from GS or any other credible source that AC6 is going to be on PS3. You're basing a counter argument there on speculation alone.

Out of the 7 games I listed, you only "attempted" to counter (and I use th tern loosely here since it was a lame attempt at that) that 2 of them will not be exclusive. With AC6 I pointed out you have no basis in facts, and Gears being so much later to be effective.

Why buy anything at all?

The ps3 cost is extreme for a gaming console. They don't have any games at all worth purchasing the system for? Blah Blah Blah...

You realize that most people will not buy a gaming pc to play games on it (hundreds of million of consoles sold in the past 10 years speaks to how consumers look at the big picture.

I would love to see a break down of the yearly sales of a game that was on the pc vs a console and see which one sold the most. The best examples will be moving forward when big pc games will be available on consoles. One has to wonder if the console game would sell way more than the pc version (esp if the game isn't World of Warcraft).

So the main stream public, if the game is on the pc and 360 only, then the game is a console exclusive, as that version will more than likely sell more than the pc version.

And for us that love to play games, they got them! Unlike the ps3!

That is bull since you have to upgrade your graphics card in a year or two and a gaming PC cost around 1400$ if you want to run Crysys and nobody even knows how well it will run on anybody's hardware configuration.

STALKER is a great example of why not to PC game. The game was made with what hardware in mind? PC games seem to be made on computers beyond the ones that your average joe has and eventually the hardware to run a game decent enough comes out later but then you might have to wait for it to go down in price.

The best graphics card(8800gtx) runs you 600 dollars.

You really need to stop pretending PC gaming is the best cause that is far from the truth.

The ps3 cost is extreme for a gaming console. They don't have any games at all worth purchasing the system for? Blah Blah Blah...

You realize that most people will not buy a gaming pc to play games on it (hundreds of million of consoles sold in the past 10 years speaks to how consumers look at the big picture.

I would love to see a break down of the yearly sales of a game that was on the pc vs a console and see which one sold the most. The best examples will be moving forward when big pc games will be available on consoles. One has to wonder if the console game would sell way more than the pc version (esp if the game isn't World of Warcraft).

So the main stream public, if the game is on the pc and 360 only, then the game is a console exclusive, as that version will more than likely sell more than the pc version.

And for us that love to play games, they got them! Unlike the ps3!

The SIMs is the best selling game in history, and its on PC.

Not to mention online sales arent even counted... And here is a small piece of the online sales Pie: Steam has over 13 million users, and is buy online crazy.

Besides since when was quantity > quality. PC delivers the most AAAs.....

why buy the xbox 360 when there is hardly any exclusive games on the unit? mostof the good games are either on pc or ps3. i see no reason to own a 360 when it has so few exclusives and charges you for online when ps3, pc, and soon enough wii will offer it for free.

Every system will have great exclusives and that's why I personally believe it's important to own all three and have a decent PC as well. I don't want to miss any great games. :)

360 is more exspensive in the long run. pc can do so much more then 360 and won't cost you much more.

ps3 library will get bigger and there really isnt a reason to own a 360 outside of gears of war considering most the other good games can be found elsewhere.

Again with the "X360's ONLY game worth playing is Gears". That card is so played to death already. I would point out Forza 2, Mass Effect, Dead Rising, DOA 4, AC6... but you'll simply overlook them because they completely obliterate your argument. You will never be able to acknowledge 360's library that is out RIGHT NOW. Why don't you just admit to your blindness, then maybe you can be helped.

Err, your entire list of exclusives was pretty much "unproven IPs", "doesn't look like anything special" and "it's going to be terrible from early impressions".
