[QUOTE="mayceV"][QUOTE="Half-Way"]

well that excuse didnt work for wii , why should it work for ps3?

just because this forum has more cows then sheeps?

Half-Way

...? we all know the wii has last gen hardware. the Ps3 has the same amount of power as the 360 where did the wii come from?

well the fact that SMG2 looks awesome and cooking mama looks like crap should make you think more about it ;)

and games like muramasa kill everything the PS360 have to offer when it comes to artistic design

so the excuse is asgood on the wii as it is on the ps3

People don't put graphics on devs as much on the Wii, but does anyone blame Nintendo for all the crap games on the system?

This thread cracks me up. It's almost a comedy show. :P

I'm surprised people still fall for theseekar's posts, it should be obvious that he is a fakeboy by now.

At least Wii owners can enjoy their games without having to argue pixels on a forum.

[QUOTE="T-razor1"]

[QUOTE="shadownetsam"][QUOTE="T-razor1"]

So with the recent release of Red Dead Redemption gamers once again see why it is better to buy the 360 version of a multiplatform title. Sure you can still enjoy the PS3 version but when you put it next to the 360 version one cannot help but get annoyed with Sony and the so-called power of the cell in the PS3. Yes I guess you can put part of the blame on the developer but IMO most of the blame has to go to Sony. Sony created an asymmetrical machine that seemingly tends to "choke" the power of the PS3. Having a lot of power means nothing if the anatomy of the machine is created in such a way that the power is seldomly brought out in the games being released.

Yes Naughty Dog has shown that given time and support that they can fight off the relentless "choke hold" in the system and harness a decent amoumt of power from the system and show off some of its graphical capabilities (Even though I was not as floored as other people with UC2's graphics).

So people see a game like UC2 and then the blurry mess that is RDR on PS3 and then scratch their head. Of course the easy thing to do is blame Rockstar but they like other developers are here to make money and time is money. So then you hear comments like, "Well if PS3 was the lead platform it would look better." Or "Look at the PS3 exclusives the 360 couldn't handle those games." Which brings me to my question is that statement really true?

People keep talking about the power of the PS3. Well heck...what about the power of the 360? The 360 is also powerful AND it's easier to develop for.

So my question is this...

Given the same development time don't you think that Naughty Dog, Kojima/Konami, Santa Monica Studios, Guerilla Games, Sucker Punch, Zipper etc.. could release a similar graphical quality that would at least be on par or dare I say slightly better because of the ease of development in the 360. Again think about it. The 360 is easier to develop for AND it's still freakin' powerful. My answer is yes that those games on the 360 would at least be on par. I mean look at Crysis 2. That game is already dropping jaws for the 360 version of the game. Yes the PS3 version is said to look nice too but all the talk has been about the 360 version.

....and don't tell me Crytek sucks because they are a respected developer in the PC community supposedly working hard to harness the power of both systems yet the 360 is getting the attention even if the difference is a hair. I've always wondered what Naughty Dog or Guerilla games could do on the 360....and even though their games look good on the PS3 I still notice a couple of graphical flaws that I wonder if they would exist if the game was developed on the 360.

....and please don't tell me well they already said their games were only possible on the PS3. Lol of course they're gonna say that for obvious reasons. Anyway I know it would never happen but I would really like to see what those devs could do with the 360.

Umm you do realize crytech said crysis 2 looks and runs better on ps3 currently??And no the ps3 isn't to blame rockstar engine was made for 360 not the ps3 they had 5yrs to make this game and it looks like crap plain and simple. Naughty dog made uncharted 2 in 2 yrs look at how good that looks so if I were you I would be quite because you are only going to get owned. Exclusives take full advantage for a system multiplatform titles the lead system takes the most advantage research you are only making yourself look bad.

Again, can you show me a link where this was said?

"if I were you I would be quite because you are only going to get owned."

Lol. I don't bite my tongue for anyone whether I get owned or not and I'm definitely not gonna be quiet now because somefool likeyourself who seems to have diarrhea of the mouth tells me to.You basically started to babble after the bolded part having nothing relevant to say about what I was asking in this thread. Get the f*** outta here.

one advantage the playstation 3 version has over the 360 one is the fact that it comes with two free Dlc's already in the box as a sorry for Episodes from liberty city

[QUOTE="ryetech"]

[QUOTE="savagetwinkie"] i think he means the technology of RDR is more advanced which is likely true since its a sand box game that looks really good, but flaws don't really mean less advanced, savagetwinkie

Those flaws are not based on polish like the bugs that RDR suffers from. Those flaws are based on how good the engine is. Uncharted 2 for example suffers from none of this. No matter what's happing on screen it never drops below 30 FPS. Even in multiplayer the frame rate is LOCKED no matter what's going on. From a graphical stanpoint, uncharted 2 doesn't have any flaws....Lighting, physics, resolution, framerate, and animation. They all compliment each other. There is no "weakness" when it comes to that game from a technical standpoint. Yes, there are games that may have something better in a specific category, like RDR with it's amazing animations, or Alan wake with it's great lighting, but there isn't a game out right now that beats it in all categories.

its not about weakness, being technically more advanced is still more advanced even if its rough around the edges, sandbox games are naturally more rough around the edges because more is expected from them unlike UC2 which is a corridor shooter.

Tell me he didn't just say that, tell me he didn't just say that:PBOOKER-T.jpg booker t image by CABRiZZLE

But seriously, UC2 a corridor shooter? U obviously haven't played the game. Its not a sandbox by any mean, but its environment are very open.

It has some big platforming levels, but overall it is definitively a very closed environment with almost no backtracking. "Corridor shooter" is an exagerated though.

My honest opinion iS... NO.

AFter seeing Alan Wake which was in development for five years and had a custom built engine, I've come to doubt the fact that the 360 will ever pass the PS3's best in terms of graphics. Even Splinter Cell Conviction dissapointed and that was being hyped as a grapchis king, as well ,up until its release. It also had a long development period and a custom engine (or heavily modified one). If you want the best graphics you're just going to have to get the PS3. unless where talking about Multi platforms, in which case, I would tell you to get a 360.

is it really that hard? when you DEVELOP A GAME for the 360, and then PORT it to the ps3, it will be crappy. when you DEVELOP A GAME for the ps3, it will be fine......................... it's that simple. the architecture of the ps3 is a bit newer, but that's the only reason it's difficult. competent developers have no issue taking full advantage of it. case in point, GOW3, UC2, FF13(ya i know lol but it's a multiplat and hey it looks great on BOTH consoles) it's because the architecture is so different, that the developers are encouraged to develop for the 360, because it has a larger install base, and then the ps3 usually gets the short end of the stick. it wouldn't be a problem if devs developed simultaneously for both consoles, but most won't. and hey, if that's how it is, that's how it is. but it's not all sony's fault.

Ehm, Alan Wake effects, lighting, physicsand scale already absolutly destroy any PS3 exclusive, so 360 has already pass PS3 in temrs of graphics by a landslide

IT is 2010Xbox 360becoms 5this year, since it launched.

  • MS is a software company which makes OS and GAME API
  • Long before the launch MS had Development Kits fully ready
  • Xbox 360Launched with Direct X
  • Xbox 360multi core general processors are not too much different than other general Multicore CPUs on the market

And yet the games look and play good but have not looked as good as a game that came out 3 years after it was launched?!! With the ease of making a great game, and the "power" of the Xbox 360 along with the YEAR head start you would think all that combined to make it impossible for PS3 to catch up, let alone pass it. MS has even spent more on their big titles than Sony has ot its big franchises. Still the year head start, Easier coding, and know how has not helped MS keep the lead.

PS3 has launched in 2006 and it just got out the door, with some changes due to problems Sony was having.

  • The GPU was added near the end of the development of the Cell
  • There were not Kits till the last second before launch of PS3
  • Near the end due to huge issues with manufacturing Cell 1 SPU is not used!
  • There were no coders that understood how to make the code to get it to run greatly
  • The complexety of the Cell made it more difficult to develop for
  • Due to the less powerful RSX programers have to rely on the cell which takes more time to figure out how to get them both working together
  • f

Still after 3 years there has been a lot of headway. Naughty Dog was the first game out that showed what could be done. They have a lot of tweeking to do and there are still other ways to work around the PS3 to get it to do other tricks that increase graphics, or AI, or HD 60FPS games. Games are only getting better by leaps and bounds. Heavy Rain, GOW3, the last gardian continue to show that the PS3 can preform well.

Even with all its flaws and handycapsPS3 has been able to surpass Xbox 360 in several departments. So I do not think that if Sony developers had a chance to make Xbox 360 games that they would look better on Xbox 360 FURTHER, if EPIC spent the time to focus on a Exclusive game on PS3 and coded the game only for PS3 they could make that game SHINE more than many others. Same with Cryengine 3,Id tech 5, and other developers who have the capabilities to make great games.

[QUOTE="djsifer01"]Dude, the RSX is know for its lighting capablities, thats its strong point. Being able to post process on the cell is a big deal.djsifer01

[QUOTE="XboximusPrime"]

I really dont see why people are surprised by this. last gen, XBOX versions of multiplatform games looked better, and this gen most of the XBOX versions of games look better. But really, Red Dead was kinda a extreme case. I really dont think the differences in most version of games are THAT noticeable.

theseekar

Well, last gen xbox was released far after PS2, so was expected and costed more

Now PS3 released a year after 360 at double price and still 360 has far superior hardware, even at half the PS3 price

The difference is rather huge

PS2 didn't have GPU tech from either ATI or NVIDIA. The current console wars is a mirror to PC's ATI vs NVIDIA war.

[QUOTE="clone01"][QUOTE="djsifer01"]I dont think the 360 is powerful at all. its a stripped down outdated PC. PS3 exclusives such as UC2, KZ2 and GOW3 could never be replicated(look identical) on the 360.djsifer01
and the PS3 is just a stripped down PC as well.

Not PC architecture so how could that be? The Cell is more poweful than all dual core and some quad core processors.
