[QUOTE="FirstDiscovery"]Had it not been for the mass casualisation, it wouldnt have turned out so dumbed downtoo_much_eslim
WHile I know I didn't play 3rd strike. I don't think SFIV is a game you can say is really dumbed down. I like the offensive focus because it makes each match intense and really unpredictable.

...it's a success because it's wrapped inside a layer of absolute accessibility. reviewer
I guess that is debatable.

Street Fightr 4 is amazing! the most over rated game of 2009 will be Killzone 2! i am not a huge fighting game fan but i went out and got SFIV it's truely amazing! so much depth and the character balancing is aweomse! a lot of characters, challenges and a great online How can this game be called over rated? it is arguably the best one in the series!

Soul Calibur is a joke compared to Street Fighter 4. Street Fighter 4 is the best fighter game of this generation.

Well, I never really owned a fighter (except for Smash Bros back on the N64), and I'm really enjoying it.

Some pros I can point out so far:

  • A lot of attention was given to details.
  • It seems to be a very in-depth, with potential to be played for a very long time.
  • It's just fun to play.
So... so far, I don't agree with you.

There's a Guilty Gear 2 online for Xbox. I think it may be part of Xbox Originals but I know it's also BC for the 360.

I dont have gold and wont have gold for a good while, but I dont mind. ALso is anyone even playing that still.

I like SF3:3rd strike better than SF4. To me, SF4 feels almost like a suped up SF2 remake which I have long moved on to other better fighters. But it feels kinda nice to be back though. Nothing wrong with that at all.

That PoC button masher? The Doa series is at the bottom of the 3D fighters. The only thing DoA beats out its the Mortal Kombat series but when is the last time he had a good MK game?

[QUOTE="Bigboi500"][QUOTE="110million"] I stopped reading. :| SFIV is not something you can see, or read about, to fully understand the changes, you have to play it. 110million

Care to elaborate?

The 2-button grabs help prevent mashers from having any random advantages, the focus attacks add a whole other element to the combat, watch some high level player videos, the way you can come in and out of them can turn around some matches. The revenge bar might not be innovative, but the trade off of taking damage vs dealing damage to perform a super also freshens up the game play and adds more complex strategies in the form of deciding which to go with, the TRIAL modes help teach anyone how to perform high level combos and techniques, to prevent scrubs from being with the game forever, it may take a whole for people to go through them or to see a difference, but it definatly makes it a lot easier to learn how to do the "elite" combos, the unlockables also give good reasons to practice longer on single player (again to try to prevent poor players from just spamming or not knowing how to play) and the ability to play arcade mode and allow people to challange you (through an option) while your in arcade mode, makes it an authenic "arcade experiance" as well as giving you something to do when waiting for an online match.

Again, all these might not mean much in text, but when you actually play the game and form strategies with them, it greatly improves the experiance. The fighting genre is far from dead, I play a great new fighter every few months, people are just not dedicated enough to try new fighters, so they pretend they don't exist or something.

So true, Just try the game or at least watch videos with high level players performing the moves that 110million mentioned which are really cool to just watch. to 110million about playing with new fighters is a good idea. It brings a fresh experience to the game, and also when you face them, u won't be clueless in how to beat them.

OK, since this is turning into a debate about which fighting game franchise is better, I'll put in my two cents. Keep in mind I have no experience in DOA, MK(the first game's main song is awesome), and I won't get SF4 until Saturday, because my birthday's on Sunday and because of church I'm having it a day early.

Soul Calibur 2 on the GameCube was, to me, awesome. I loved the various modes, being able to play as Link, the graphics. Then I replayed it three months ago on the arcade, and I was shocked at how bad it became for the increasingly VF fan in me. Button mashing goes far.

Then there's Tekken. Tekken has a special place in my gaming, since my first fighting game was Tekken 3. After playing T5, I was amazed, because it felt so fluid and fun, and I loved it.

And last is Virtua Fighter 5 for the 360. Let's just say this: This is the perfect game for beating up button mashers, because that game requires so much skill to play well, it's the deepest fighter ever, even deeper than Capcom games. You have so many moves to work with, and the character balance is a masterpiece in itself.

So out of those three, VF is my favorite right now.

It's not that I don't think it's overrated, I'm sure it's great, but I just can't bring my self to pay $60 for a fourth installment. I have SF2 and 3; I love them both, but I can wait. After reading some comments and I shouldn't be surprised as long as I've been a member here, but many of you are overly biased about fighters. I love certain ones over others, but I can see why people like different fighters. Oh...well, I'll let children be children. Fighting over opinions. lol

MK and SF are awesome 2D fighters.

Tekken and SC are awesome 3D fighters.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the DoA series and I can't say too much about other fighters because I'm not familiar with all of them.

SF >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SC, imo, and yes I played SC4, bought it and everything (wasn't impressed). In all honesty I havent had this much fun with a fighting game in a really long time. The game is really well done, and the integration with online matches is perfect. I'm no pro in the game, but I can see myself getting a lot better with time, which will make it even more enjoyable ... except ... these blisters on my thumb ... =(

Well I don't have the game but I think you might be right. I read the review yesterday and it went on and on about the visuals and online play mostly. I don't see how a game in an almost dead genre with nothing particularly innovative to bring to the table can score a 9.0. I think the reviewer had both nostalgia and hd hype goggles on at the same time.Bigboi500
I am in no way, shape or form a fighter fan. I used to play in arcades but never played anything to serious because i never got into the techniques and stratagies behind some fighter games. Well i recently wanted something new, and im not patient enough to wait for KZ2 so i bought SFIV and i completely agree with its score. Its a great game, that is deep, looks good, has great online, and keeps me comming back. Best part is its challenging. I got my ass handed to me the first 2 hours i played, but learning more and more each time i play and watchign myself get better is half the fun to it for me. Great stuff.

the game is great but just not worth $60 bucks imo now that we all have to tighten our wallets i want more bang from your buck and while SF4 has a lot of great features and still have problem with the $60 price tag. if it was $40 bucks you'd hear no complaints from me but i had to decide between SF4 or re5 and i decided SF4 now i kinda regret it

The only fighters which i have played are Street Fighter 2, Soul Calibur 2 and 4, Tekken 3 and Smash Bros.

I had so many memories playing Smash Bros and it was the first game i have ever played, but it is more of a party game.

Stret Fighter 2 was amazing, the characters were well balanced, and it was easy to pick up but hard to master.

Soul Calibur was a button masher, but in no means was it garbage, i mean its a great game with tons of content, but characters weren't well balanced and when i thought i got good, my friend who never played it before picked up the controler and whhooped my ass by pressing random buttons.

Tekken 3 was average, i just found characters to be un interesting, but i got tired of it.

So basically having not played Street Fighter 4, but i am hopefully going to pick it up tomorrow, i cannot say if it is overated or not, but i think that no games are over rated, it's just that some people like games more then others.

btw dead or alive is overated.... i keed :P

SF4, in my opinion, is the best fighting thus far this gen. It's everything I expected, plus. I really hope SF4 can breathe new life into the genre, and fighting games can make a comeback.

Congrats. You are the first person to make this type of thread. There is always one of these threads for every high scored game out there.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is over rated, Gears of War 2 is over rated, Halo 3 is over rated, Grand Theft Auto 4 is over rated, and now we have Street Fighter 4 is over rated.

Anyways I haven't played it but it looks great.

BioShockOwnz
I wouldn't say the worst fighters. Tekken is down there though with DoA in gameplay, but SC actually takes some skill. Above SC I'd go with VF, but since VF has dull characters and isn't very exciting/fast-paced I don't find it too entertaining. SF is great though, but I don't have the money for IV.

Thats not my point. Im just saying anytime a game comes out that gets great scores, one person always needs to stand out and make a "enter game name here" is over rated. People make these threads just to piss people off or to get attention. There is no reason for someone to make a threads like these.

[QUOTE="Saturos3091"][QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]Tekken and SC are probably the worst fighters. VF and SF are the winners.

Hence, the reason I have a games budget. For games of this magnitude. You could always trade in.

I agree with your complaints against VF, but I just love how it's a more technical fighter. Same goes for SF. The reward feels like you've earned it. That'sa good feeling.
