[QUOTE="XanaduTheBand"] Tell me one new Nintendo franchise in the last 5 years with the popularity and staying power of such franchises as DMC, Halo, GOW, GeOW, Forza and others. GrlGmr
Animal Crossing, Pikmin, and Nintendogs. What do I win?
battalion wars, geist. just some more to add to ursSuper Smash Bros. is also a new IP.
You can say it's just a collection of other game characters put together, but then you'd have to edit Forza out of your original post. Forza is justa bunch of cars put together.

in 25 years, china will be the big superpower, the US will have crashed again, and terrorism will have taken over half of europe, asia and africa.
Of course if videogames have taught us anything, we'll all be dead before we can see any of this.
but mario has over 100 games super milkedflashattackfinaAnd how many have you been forced to purchase?

[QUOTE="Jandurin"][QUOTE="flashattackfina"]but mario has over 100 games super milkedflashattackfinaAnd how many have you been forced to purchase? i wasn't force to buy one Are you saying then, that Mario is being milked, and not Mario fans?
[QUOTE="Haziqonfire"]Animal Crossing maybe but strikers has no where near the industry impact of those games I mentioned.New IPS:
Disaster, Battalion Wars, Strikers, Animal Crossing.
Nintendo doesnt always rely on 'old' IP's.
To your point about sheep saying that the new way of playing old games is better has two sides. At times it works well (Resident Evil 4), and at times it works out to be worse (Prince of persia: Rival swords) - it really depends on how the developer makes the game.
As to your point about a new franchise that has 'popularity and staying power' - both Animal crossing and strikers have that.
Not everyone can enjoy the Wii - and everyone has their own individual gaming tastes. Im sorry that the N64 and GC didnt fulfill your needs, but they were both good consoles to me, and to many others.
No ones making you support it by the way.

Ok Brain Age, Nintendogs, Pikmin and WiiSports
Reggie will control all in 25 years, and Nintendo will be kings! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA:lol:
Actually, i don't know. I don't care. Why do you care? WHY DOES ANYONE CARE?
but mario has over 100 games super milkedflashattackfina
Some of us love Mario games so much we wish their were more.....Maybe it is milked but almost every Mario game that comes out sells well over a million units...The fans would be upset if Nintendo just stop making Mario based games
Exclusive games include FF27 (starring a group of angsty teens out to save the world *gasp*) and MGS14: This Time Snake Really Dies We Promise. bexarath
 . No he won't die... Trust me. Nah but in all seriousness, Kojima said in an interview that he would not stop with the MGS franchise just as long as people want to see it coming... Soo if he holds true to those words...
- Nintendo will have designed a console that is a chip surgically implanted into your brain. Besides truly immersive gameplay, it also provides a handy means of controlling the sheep for Lord Miyamoto, who by this time will be controlling the world from atop his onyx tower in Neo Tokyo IV bexarath
:o It all makes sense now...
Still excited about Mario and zelda, afterall, they and their grandkids grew up playing the same game (just on different systems  ). In all serisouness though, they still will be playing on hardware that while cool on some levels always seems to be just weird enough to alienate those of us who like gaming the way it was. Isn't that ironic. There seems to be two camps of people: one side claiming that their new way of playing old games is better; and the other claiming that their old way of playing new games is better. Food for thought? And yes Nitnento is resting on its tried and true IPs. Tell me one new Nintendo franchise in the last 5 years with the popularity and staying power of such franchises as DMC, Halo, GOW, GeOW, Forza and others. The Wii is the 1st Nintendo system that I have vowed not to buy without a good reason. The 64 burned me good and GC was aweful to say the least. Do you think I like MS and Sony as companies. Do you think that I would rather suport them than Ninty. No, I grew up on Mario (I beat Super C, SMB1, 2, and 3, in the last two days just for nostalgia) but I hate th direction they are taking themselves. I need a little growth for pete's sake. I honestly think that Nintndo just found that they couldn' compete in the market as it were, so they (successfully) found a spiritually watered down market that could attract as much people as possible (ala Holloywood). I'm not gonna support that. /rantXanaduTheBand
Gaming the way it was? When you say "was" do you mean just 5 years ago when FPSers and arcade racers dominated the industry because of all the casual, twitch gamers flooding the market? Or by "was" do you mean the Arcade, NES, SNES, PS1 days when there were many different games available for everyone to play and developers were encouraged to make new and innovative games and not just worry about the prettiest graphics?
I am someone who has been a gamer for longer than you have probably been alive. To me, gaming "the way it was" is not what we have now. Now all I see are the same 4 or 5 games being re-released over and over and over and over, and instead of competing for quality or originality or innovation, companies are more concerned about competing for graphics.
If 25 years from now, people are looking fondly back to the days of endless sequals, rehashes, and shoddy rip-offs of better titles, and when published stopped taking risks on creating new games in favour of yearly sequals with little changes because games cost to much but didn't sell any more....then count me out. I'll quit gaming if that is the case.
