What Should Ninten-Do?

Article about the game Nintendo should have made.

I LOVE Ninty, but reality is reality. Nintendo has brought me so many amazing titles over the years and they still are. But don't you think that this is the game they should have made? The only reason my Wii hangs around is because of my inner fanboy love for Nintendo, Zelda, and Mario. (I admit I used to be somewhat of a sheep years ago but I always loved all consoles).

I'm glad it's on the PS3 though, and I'm sure it will be a killer app. Props to Sony for snagging it up. Now they need to buy MM!

Now that it is the new face of Playstation brand, I couldn't see it anywhere else. I feel that MM, as developers, rival Nintendo's creativity and fun factor.

Even Reggie says LBP belongs on the Wii (no really, he actually said that).

EDIT 1: It has just come to my attention that Sony did acquire MM :P.

EDIT 2: Sheep what do you think of LBP? Does it interest you?

EDIT 3: Before anymore hostilty... I didn't mean it like that. I'm only saying that MM has implemented the level of creativity and fun factor that Ninty normally brings to the table. MM has shown that they can make a game that would be equal to a Nintedo quality experience.

EDIT 4: MM is not owned by Sony :P.

Sony did buy Media Molecule.

EDIT: I may be wrong here. I could have sworn I read a story about Sony acquiring them a while back, but I cannot find it anymore.

Personally, I'm glad Nintendo did NOT make LittleBigPlanet.

The whole point of the game is to create stuff share it with friends online. It would have been a disaster on the Nintendo Wii.

LBP is the only game I want to play on PS3 this year. Hopefully one of my friends get it, because I'm not buying a PS3 for one game.

While Sony is actively promoting LittleBigPlanet these days, there aren't any plans for Media Molecule to be acquired by Sony and their exclusivity deal for working with Sony is time limited.

He has some excellent points. These days where Nintendo is believed to be the most innovative, not because they are great but because the competition is a train-wreck.

Good to see MM turning the tide and innovating the old fashion way.

There is no way Nintendo would have made a game as ambitious as this in the online department.

They showed that by just rehashing Animal Crossing.

Eh... no.

I think they do as well. I am not convinced Ninty has much creativity outside Myamoto-san this generation. Rag-doll Kung-fu and LBP are delightfully creative ideas that are filled with whimsy, like most Ninty products used to be.

From what I gather, MM does not want to be acquired, and I think a hostile acquisition would be very bad.

Yeah, and Ninty better not screw up Animal Crossing! I feel like it's gonna be just like the GCN version but with some waggle.

EDIT: Since Sony bought MM, it further adds to their ever growing and deep 1st party family.

nah..animal crossing wii is basically wild world with better holidays, a city, voice chat, cliffs, and a bunch of other new features. Waggle from what I've heard is optional. You can turn it off if you wish.

lol is there even a point to the Wii then? Two years later and Nintendo is still putting out GC games where the main feature of the console itself is not even incorporated in the core gameplay of its software, like turning off rumble?

What a complete joke.

Gh0st_Of_0nyx

So your saying one game equates to all the fun and innovation nintendo bought to gameing .:?

Thats nitpicking. I think that it clearly tries to say that the current Nintendo is not the old Nintendo. Even though its highly popular as a console, what we lost because of that is a lot. Im not saying that their games are bad, but if you compare SSBM vs SSBB or SMG vs SM64 or TLOZ WW vs TLOZ TP you will notice how this series changed gameplay wise.

Personally, I'm glad Nintendo did NOT make LittleBigPlanet.

The whole point of the game is to create stuff share it with friends online. It would have been a disaster on the Nintendo Wii.

I don't think what Media Moleculde does strictly applies to what Nintendon't. I think it applies to greater deal then that meaning more then Nintendo.Blackbond
I think I would have said:

"Media Molecule does what Nintendo does. But better than Nintendo does it."

The whole "Nintendon't" campaign was to show a contrast in what kinds of games Sega Genesis offered that Nintendo's SNES didn't. Different kind of gaming experience. this game is very much in the vein of what Nintendo would make. colorful, cute, endearing, fun and brilliantly made.

if Nintendo had made it in some alternate universe, nobody would have blinked an eye.

Sony haven't bought any developers since last year when they bought Evolution Studios, I wonder what they're waiting for. My guess is that they're going to attempt to buy Media Molecule depending on the success of LBP. I think they should also try to buy Level 5.

You know like not even having an online platform to begin with...

Nintendo has shown an ability to adapt the console to cater to specific online experiences. Take Animal Crossing getting a microphone to go with the game. in the same way, Nintendo could have made the game such that user-created levels would be stored on an SD card in the front slot. Communication could be done using the same microphone from animal crossing.

What else is left?

I dont know what your talking about

BlastWorks works well online, you download user created levels and play them, share them, etc... with no friend codes.

Monster Hunter 3 will be big online as well.
