Personally, I'm glad Nintendo did NOT make LittleBigPlanet.

The whole point of the game is to create stuff share it with friends online. It would have been a disaster on the Nintendo Wii.

Shinobishyguy

why?

You know like not even having an online platform to begin with...

Nintendo has shown an ability to adapt the console to cater to specific online experiences. Take Animal Crossing getting a microphone to go with the game. in the same way, Nintendo could have made the game such that user-created levels would be stored on an SD card in the front slot. Communication could be done using the same microphone from animal crossing.

What else is left?

the physics system?

Not sure if the wii could handle it

Well now you're talking about power. Gamer4life was talking about the core concept of sharing things online with friends. yea, I'm not sure what kind of physics compromises would have had to be made, or if the game would have been less appealing somehow. I think that if the Wii can do what the Xbox did and more, it would be able to handle most of what we see in LBP now

I dont know what your talking about

BlastWorks works well online, you download user created levels and play them, share them, etc... with no friend codes.

Monster Hunter 3 will be big online as well.

thanks for the further insight.

I'm really quite surprised that Sony haven't even attempted to buy MM yet, considering the massive hype and critical acclaim LBP has achieved. They'd be stupid to let someone else get there first. I mean, they boght Evolution Studios after MotorStorm, so why not MM? Maybe they're waiting to see the sales figures? Who knows. This IS Sony we're talking about and it wouldn't be the first stupid decision they've made this gen.

LBP is the only game I want to play on PS3 this year. Hopefully one of my friends get it, because I'm not buying a PS3 for one game.

Haziqonfire

That's how I feel. If it wasn't for LBP, my PS3 would have a lonely Holiday season. And on-topic, I don't think it matters to Nintendo. Nintendo has all their mascots. Sony is still searching for theirs, but it looks like they finally found it. Now they better not let it get sold off like Crash and Spyro.

[QUOTE="no_handlebars"]Interesting. I think Sony might acquire them after seeing how LBP does.Haziqonfire

It'll be interesting to see how well it sells. Personally I think it'll be have success with reviews but not commercial success, but I really hope I'm wrong.

i wouldn't worry too much. Sony's advertising campaign for it is fairly huge. And advertising plays a big role in how well a game sells. Take Mercenaries 2 for instance. That game sold big due to monster advertising even though the game sucked.

I dont know if it would be the same but the Wii is capable of running Havok. World of Goo is a 40 MB WiiWare game and its pretty phisycs heavy . People underestimate the Wii immensly imo

The PS2 is capable of running Havok as well, It doesn't mean the game would be the same. Overall, it would be a different game from Online Implementation to Graphics/Physics. Doesn't mean it wouldn't still be good.

I was going to mention Goo too. I think it will be very much possible for the Wii to run this game with most of the physics still intact. And if anyone would be able to do that for Wii, it would be Nintendo, look at what they did with Galaxy.

I guess Nintendo has been out of ideas since wii sports and wii fit.

And as far as LBP being on the wii well they didn't come up with the idea. Not every big idea is going to come from the same group of people.

Its like sony is trying to appeal to the kids with lbp in hopes of selling more consoles but the thing is how many kids are going to get their parents to buy them a ps3 for one game. Although there maybe more games they want but it just so happens with the ps3 that most of the good games are violent.

I'm not gonna list every single idea they have come up with but the point is that they have been out of ideas for quite some time and most of their great ideas came about when the wii first came out. If there is a wii 2 I doubt it will be as good as you can see they have run short on ideas for quite some time.

Wait, first they dont have good ideas, then you say not all big ideas come from them?

I also fail to see how someone can say that after Galaxy being unleashed upon us

SMG is the reason the Wii proves to have next gen controls. It's the only game on the Wii that proves the Wii mote makes games better and more fun IMO. I LOVE it :).

I'm so pleased that Nintendo showed they could make a game that can ONLY be done on the Wii.

No More Heroes.

It might not seem that obvious at first but believe me, take the controls out of NMH and it isnt the same game at all.

I wish Nintendo made a game similar to LBP with NINTENDO mascots. That would be so amazing. But LBP is perfect for what it is on the PS3.

I couldn't see Sony selling the LBP IP to anyone. That would be like MS selling the Halo name to EA.

Your putting words in my mouth and you clearly need to read it again to fully understand what was written. I said they have been out of ideas for quite some time that doesn't mean that they don't have good ideas. They had good ideas awhile back but right now they don't have any good ideas as you can see nothing being released for wii this fall is gonna be able to compete with lbp due to their lack of ideas.

I admit I still have to play it. When I wrote my previous post NMH crossed my mind honestly, but I never played it so I don't know. MP3 could be one as well, I forgot.

Just image a Wii mote interface with next-gen HD graphics and online connectivity. Insane.

Not having anything that big this holiday doesnt mean lack of ideas, it means they dont have anything ready for that time frame. They already said all their major and smaller studios are working hard on new games.

the worst thing is that LBP will sell bad because it's on PS3 and it wont reach its potential because of the restrictions

I was gonna say Metroid Prime 3/FPS's as i think its the only way to play FPS on a console (imo) and i hate dual stick aiming with a passion, but i didnt want to go there in SW for obvious reasons >_>

[QUOTE="Blackbond"]I don't think what Media Moleculde does strictly applies to what Nintendon't. I think it applies to greater deal then that meaning more then Nintendo.Dreams-Visions

I think I would have said:

"Media Molecule does what Nintendo does. But better than Nintendo does it."

The whole "Nintendon't" campaign was to show a contrast in what kinds of games Sega Genesis offered that Nintendo's SNES didn't. Different kind of gaming experience. this game is very much in the vein of what Nintendo would make. colorful, cute, endearing, fun and brilliantly made.

if Nintendo had made it in some alternate universe, nobody would have blinked an eye.

Exactly right. But the thing is that Nintendo hasn't given us a game like LBP. I would expect it from them of all people. I'm astonished by MM :). They honestly did what Nintendo hasn't yet.

Or should I have named it "MM does would everyone expects Nintendo to do, but haven't"?

I don't think they need to step it up much. Just continue what they've done in the past. Each gen they usually create a new franchise. N64=Smash, GCUBE=Pikmin and ANimal Crossing, Wii=???.

They probably don't care since they're rolling in dough :P.

I just want AT LEAST 1 NEW GAME from their main dev team! That, along with the new Zelda will definitely hold me.

Now that it is the new face of Playstation brand, I couldn't see it anywhere else. I feel that MM, as developers, rival Nintendo's creativity and fun factor.

Fawlcon_Pawnch

:/

They did one game, and its not even out yet.

They have more than one game. ;)

Their first game Media Molecule studio made is LBP, am i wrong?

"Media Molecule is a game development studio based in Guildford, United Kingdom. The studio was founded in January 2006[2] by former Lionhead Studios employees Mark Healey, Alex Evans, Dave Smith, and Kareem Ettouney.[3] Before starting the company, the founders worked together on Healey's independent game Rag Doll Kung Fu while still at Lionhead.[4] The studio's first game is the PlayStation 3 title LittleBigPlanet, which was announced and demonstrated at the Game Developers Conference2007.
