Three things.
1. As a "gamer," "right here on GS," I don't really care about console graphics. They're all pretty lousy compared to PC anyway. I was prefectly satisfied with Ninja Gaiden Black graphics last gen, and Wii can handle those.
2. In 5 years, we'll be into next gen. Nintendo will probably release something on par with PS3 while the other two are even further ahead in hardware, only NiN will go the next step in simulation. Maybe virtual reality.
3. So you're only interested in one title. That's nice. Why on earth do you think everyone else feels the same way? I can think of 6 Wii games I want this year: MP3, SSBB, SMG, BWii, Trauma 2, and Dragon Blade. There are others I'm interested in and will probably rent first.
The graphics? They aren't already making any splash, but already many of the best Wii games look good in the artistic sense, and just overall for the Wii.Truth be told, I don't see the "graphics" becoming the problem forthe Wii. Anyone who bought aWii for graphics should return it now. Anyone expecting it to get the biggest MAIN franchises of games like MGS and so on, go back and take it to your nearest Videogame retailer.
The Wii simply was made as the alternative console how I see it. A different choice, for a different experience, and many seem to be thrilled with it. The Wii relies on the Wii-Remote, yes, so that's it. Now the problem is, will devs be able to make new ideas with the controller and not suddenly become bogged down in the "been there, done that." thing.
...in 5 years time? Go look at the farcry review, it got a 10/10 in graphics but now it looks bad and it's only 3 years old!
Please sheep, explain to me how the Wii is going to last when it's best looking game(SMG) can't keep up ALREADY?
Oh and don't say "but teh casuals don't care about graphics!" I'm not talking aboutcasuals I'm talking about gamers, us right here on GS. Yet another twisted view of what a gamer is... And how can a casual gamer not be a gamer?
It's not about just graphics either, its weak power will stop it from getting great FPS's, a type of game suited for the wii-remote but because it can't make great graphics, it can't have really good AI, it doesn't have proper online play, Funny, PS2 online play wasn't too great either, or atleast I didn't think so. Wii has better graphics than the PS2, even if that difference is slight. So the PS2 didn't get any good FPS's I suppose?no developer will make one...sorry no GOOD developer will make one.
It's a console made for a young family with a couple of pre-teen kids who can have a bit of fun playing mario and tennis then the mums and dad can play things like Wiifit and Wii-bowling. It's not a hobby or a main peice of enterainment it's a toy to play with once in a while, like a trampoline.
They don't care about gameplay, they don't care about graphics, they play online hardly at all and the parents like it because the kids don't just sit there gaming like on those nasty playboxes or xstations or whatever they're called.
I thought the Wii was going to be about fun. You know the whole gameplay > graphics type thing? Too bad they went with Mass market > Gameplay/sound/graphics.
SMG is the only game worth buying on it for me and that has never happend. Even consoles I haven't owned I could pick atleast 4-5 games I'd want on it. Well I'm sorry your opinion differs from a lot of other gamers.
A console this big should be getting the next dead rising never heard of it, the next final fantasy Crystal Chronicles, which is almost turning into it's own series, GTA4. Bioshock, Half life 2: Orange box, C&C3 and other massive titles. So the PS3 is a POS too, and the 360/PC are the only good systems?
All these developers would LOVE to put them on the Wii. They'd get a lot of money and the Wii remote would be used really well but they can't because it's too weak already.
Third party games are screwed on the Wii already. In 5 years time when Nintendo's released all it's big series...what'll be left?
The casuals might be happy with the latest rugrats racing or whatever but gamers will have nothing at all and seeing as gamers buying more gaming stuff and ALL casuals combinedthat's a big market to leave out in the cold. Well people keep saying it's going to "go the way of the GameCube" and I found the GameCube to have had very good games... I can ony expect more to come out.darklord888

you could look at like a market. Nintendo doesn't have much right now in terms of games, and so that means that any devs who get on board will make a lot of money because they dont have much competition (and the competition they do have is quite weak on the whole). Right now, the same thing that happened to the gamecube is happening to the wii, the only difference is that the wii is selling well. Big difference, as it means that there is a lot of money to be made in releasing a game on the wii on all fronts.
It's the opposite situation for the ps3. Third parties have invested tons of money into it, but there aren't many users. New third party investment is looking at a console crowded with expensive titles, with not enough money to go around
