No, the series still has signs of life 62%

2004 Xbox - Halo 2 8 Million Picking up steam

2009 Xbox 360 - Halo 3 14.5 Million PEAK

2012 Xbox 360 - Halo 4 9.75 Million FALLING

343 Studios has been a mixed bag. Bungie with Marty O'Donnell created something magical with halo 1

Halo 4 was a mess Call of Duty took over and just destroyed its multiplayer unlike halo 3 which was a big time multiplayer game.

Halo 5 was just disaster you had people reviving and tons of crap going on just awful, Fortnite completely destroyed halo 5 multiplayer and nobody even talks about halo 5 multiplayer this gen.

Bungie made a good looter shooter called destiny which was a huge seller just there halo games and evolved the genre with an open world looter shooter while halo was the same crap just worse.

I think if Infinite doesn't sell as much as halo 5 its just time to end it. The franchise has run its course, even mario evolves even zelda evolves, halo has gone downhill repeatedly twice in a row and is not a good FPS anymore.

Sometimes a franchise just doesn't work anymore or the new devs just can't push it forward. Its just the reality man sales show its falling people are lacking interest, there not liking the gameplay.

I mean super mario world into mario 64 was epic.

Halo 4 into Halo 5 was a crapfest. This just isn't working 343 you are not doing this.

The recent content dropping and hype of Halo infinite is getting at you isn't it? You're judging a game before they even show full gameplay. But with how things are going, it has a chance to be something great. They've replaced the writers for Halo 5 with some of the OG trilogy writers, and went back to an art style that more closely resembles Halo 3. I think you should wait and see if the game is actually good before you decide that the whole series should be axed after it. Which I know won't happen, since we all know you won't dare buy an Xbox and risk actually playing this game.

On another note, Halo 4's story was actually good. It introduced a new side of MC and Cortana that we had never seen outside of the book. The MP is what sucked.

Going to have to wait and see what Halo: Infinite is actually like before trying to answer that kind of question first of all.

Bro this is the same thing microsoft fanboys have been saying forever. Just wait. Just wait for the next show or the next e3. I'm tired of waiting. Show a good game or get out already Microsoft im not waiting any longer.

Are you that dumb? I figured it was common knowledge that you don't judge a game until it's gameplay has been shown, and it's been put into the hands of consumers.

Halo actually has 9 major games.

Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, Halo Wars, Halo Wars 2, Halo 4, and Halo 5.

All in all though, if this busts, MS will likely just give it off to a more competent studio. They have way more devs who can work on Halo now, including a newly formed studio. Back at E3, Tim Schafer slightly joked about working on Halo. Take that as you will.

I thought this game was supposed to be a soft reboot.

It kind of is, but it's also continuing the story of Halo 5.

@thatdbfan: 2 strategy games dont count as halo first person shooters, and halo 3 odst was an stand alone expansion.

Halo isn't a big thing anymore, which shocks me as to why lemmings are all hyped about Infinite being a killer app. Literally Days Gone sold more than Halo 5, looool. Let that sink in.

It sold more because Halo 5 actually sucked. Not even the most diehard Xbox fans like that game. But Infinite has potential to be great. But we will see.

I'm pretty sure Infinite is actually a soft reboot.

Bro A Soft Reboot that runs on the original fat vcr xbox one is not what we need right now we need evolution next gen graphics. Huge open worlds no loading times with the SSD.

Xbox one can't handle what we need right now for halo.

Bro, that's exactly what it's doing. You're acting like you have to play it on the old Xbox One. The Series X and PC versions will be far superior. You're doing the usual and grasping at straws to find an excuse not to buy an Xbox and Halo next gen.

ODST was not an expansion. It was a standalone. And they're not FPS games, but they are Halo games, and tie directly into the main games.
