Should I Ask for a PS3 or a 3DS?

Hello System Wars!

My birthday is coming up in a few months, and I'd like to ask for either a PS3 or a 3DS. There are few pros and cons for each, so I can't really decide. The PS3 has a Blu-Ray player, so I could sell my DVD player for room, plus some extra cash. Also, some of my friends have PS3s, so if I could get PSN, I could play online. However, there's not a huge amount of games I like that I'm allowed to play (i.e. Grand theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, etc.).

The 3DS has plenty of games that look interesting to me (I'm mainly a Ninty gamer), but the price point is steep for a handheld and the battery life is really turning me off.

Which should I ask for?

PS3 is a better value and has a great library of games.

Ps3 it has more games availble and it might not be a good time to get a 3ds right now(probably in the holiday).

Get a PS3.

The 3DS doesn't have very many games worth playing right now and the PS3 has a ton.

Also, you should wait until the 3DS comes out with a new model, i.e. 3DS Lite or whatever. The current model is not worth buying because of the 3 hour battery life which is totally inexcusable for a handheld system. Plus, if you use the Nyko battery pack to extend the battery life, it voids the warranty. I was going to pick up a 3DS last week after buying Zelda 3D, but I decided to get an iPod Touch 32gb instead after researching the battery life and finding out just how bad it really is. It is totally not worth buying this version of the 3DS, I would definitely wait for the next version which will be more energy efficient and offer a longer battery life.

I have both and barely play either but I for sure use PS3 more.

For now i'd go with the ps3, as there are plenty of fun E-E10 And T games on it, and teh Blu-Ray player :)

I would get a ps3.

But if you are a huge rpg fan a 3ds could be an option, for it's BC so you could play DS hits.

Other than that i see no point in owning a 3ds, but i do pick up stuff after price drops because i'm a cheap a$$ :P

Assuming you're allowed to play teen games there's quite a lot of quality titles on the PS3(Uncharted, inFamous, Batman, Ratchet and Clank, Valkyria Chronicles, etc) so I would say go for it. Though there is a decent amount of games coming out for the 3DS later as well so I think you should base your decision on if you'd rather have a console or handheld.Eikichi-Onizuka

is this thread for real? ps3 all the way, and gta and red dead arent even that adult. your parents are kinda strict.

IIRC there's no nudity in RDR... would be a shame if you miss it.

Assuming you own neither a 360 nor a PC (which appears to be the case), your first gaming console this gen should be a PS3. Period, no question about it.

The vast majority of games come out on those three systems.

Currently the best choice would be a ps3 as it already has a vast library of games you can choose from. Maybe one or two years down the track you should consider getting a 3DS when its library has expanded a bit.

A wide variety of games and Blu-ray. PS3 seems like the obvious choice.
