If you need a computer anyway, why even bother with the other gaming platforms? They are inferior in EVERY way.

If you're getting a new PC, do that, and just spend an extra $150 on whatever you were going to buy anyway, and turn it into a gaming machine by including a discreet GPU. There you go: cheaper than a Wii since you were getting the PC anyway, all you are spending extra money on is a GPU.

What you get with a PC over consoles:

- Way better graphics.

- More exclusives.

- Best version of most multi-plats.

- The only place to get the best MMO's and strategy games, and the best place to experience FPS's.

- An open platform where neither MS, nor Sony, nor Nintendo can tell you what you can or can't do.

- Mods. These MATTER, no matter what the console fanboys will tell you. Check out youtube video of modded Oblivion, for an example.

- Cheaper games. Thanks to Steam sales specially you'll save MORE money in the long run, if you play a lot of games, on the PC than you would have saved by buying a console anyway - and since you are getting a PC anyway, you actually save money in TWO places.

- Game control options. You can use mouse and keyboard OR a controller in most games.

- You can hook up your PC easily to either a high resolution monitor, or an HDTV. And unlike the consoles, no matter what you hook it up to, you can expect full 1080p resolution and double the framerate of consoles.

sorry dude..... not everyone love to play MMORPG and FPS........ that is why I go for Game console... plus I can feel th cinematic experience... with Big Flat Screen

PCs can use big flatscreen TVs as well.

the funny part is, you can actually use the native 1080p feature for all current games. or any game for that matter. :)

consoles can't. or for less than a handful of games at best.

If you got the money to spend (id say about 800 to a grand for a decent Gaming PC that can atleast run the new stuff well) then go for that.

[QUOTE="scooterguy140"] I've always been a playstation guy but I feel like ps3 is dieing out. Xbox seems to be the one that is going places.

The PS3 library is much more solid than the 360 library, the only thing the 360 has for the future is Kinect while the PS3 has many many exclusives so you heard wrong, the PS3 is not dying any time soon, it is probably going to outlive the 360 for the looks of it.

If you can afford it, a PC. The keyboard + mouse are ideal for most games, and you can plug in a controller if you don't like it anyway. On the long run, it may also be worth noting that PC games are considerably cheaper than console games.

georgia_bulll

did you even read the first sentence of his original post?

"I can't really afford any of them.."

So that is the main reason why I said PC wasn't a good option for him.

EDIT:

also keyboard + most isn't ideal fo rmost games as MOST gamers are used to and prefer traditial controllers for gameing, as do I. I tend to avoid many PC games that don't give me the option of using my 360 controller for playing it's games.

What? Please link me to where it says that most gamers are used to using controllers, PC gamers that is. I would say that the majority use a keyboard and mouse on the PC, with some changing to controller for select games. I know I used a PS3 controller when I played DMC4 on my PC.

pc gaming is a black hole of awesomeness! its like an alternate dimension of gaming where everything looks nice, plays nice, and the games are dirt cheap!

anywho, this happens to me sometimes. only when my ps3 looks at me with its exclusive games puppy eyes do i turn it on and play with it a little. my 360 tho, i have casted out like a lepor. its still in my living room next to my home theather system, but its not plugged in or anything. hell i dunno where the cables for it are. i havent played it in 2 years! im primarily a pc gamer.

PC is more versatile. You can play games and do your work on them, plus they have better web browsers. In your case I'd go with a mid-range PC that could play old games and a lot of newer games at decent setthings. But since you need one for other things, gaming probably wouldn't be a top priority anyway, just icing on the cake.

if you're not computer savvy pc is not the way to go. Most PC exclusives are aimed w/ computer savvy people in mind. Not to mention PC gaming isn't as easy as PC gamers make it sound.

360 if you've got a lot of gamer friends, or like compeditive gaming. PS3 if you just want solid single player gaming.

Couple of things you have to convider. What are you into most? Games, watching movies?

And this might help your decision making as well.... I recently bought a bunch are Star Wars games from Toys R Us, for PC. They were $3.99 each! I couldn't resist! One I started played was Repulbic Commando. And people are STILL playing it online! And since the original Xbox Live has shut down, the game is still as alive as it should be. I don't know if everything is like, linked to STEAM or something today, but on the computer, the games can basically live forever! But the downfall to getting a PC for your needs, is that it's not a TV, and if your looking for something to watch movies on, PC is not really Ideal. Plus, if your into Blu - Rays, computers with Blu Ray players are fairly new, and expensive still.

For gaming, I say go with 360. I like PS3, but there's not one day where you don't hear of something glitching, or going wrong with PS3. Bad firmware updates, that need to be fixed with OTHER firmware updates, and stuff like that. A lof of content comes out FIRST on 360, and there's a good amount of EXCLUSIVE 360 content. You don't have to worry about the Red Rings anymore, i'm pretty sure that prob is finally fixed. After a certain date, they started making them with new chips, and mines been fine ever since, and I still have the old one.

PS3 DOES have Blu Ray though, and is the whole package. There's some good exclusives for it, but more notable ones for 360.

Hope what I had to say helps you make your decision

You sound like you need a PC.

If it is your intent to get a PC regardless, then might as well pay up and make it a gaming PC, dude. There's some fantastic stuff on the platform. Yeah, the consoles are both fine and have varied libraries, but you could get a gaming PC, a wired 360 controller for certain games like Dirt and Street Fighter. You can find stuff like STALKER for super cheap. The indie scene on PC is way more significant than it is on consoles. The only thing you may have to worry about is some ridiculous DRM now and again, but even so there are services like Steam, apparently Good old Games doesn't use DRM and even the older games will be compatible with newer versions of Windows.

You sound like you want a PC to me, dude.

I'm going to go with PS3. Computers drive me crazy sometimes and with out a question f*** and die or start working slow and f***ed up. I really only use the computer for internet and Word. Gaming on the computer just is not my style.

I do like movie systle games, with endless cutsceeneslike Metal Gear Solid and action games withcrazy cool style and charectors, like God Of War. I love games with a great story. Unline play seems like fun but I'm not to focused on it. Like I said, the only online game I ever played was Star Wars: Jedi Knight, through zone.comI beleave, and I was terrible at it lol.

I want to find a used PS3 that can play PS2 games. I have a whole other thead about it lol.

PC, if you can afford it.. or if your looking for a console, PS3 is definitely the way to go, contrary to popular belief, the PS3 is not "dieing" out.. Its Outselling the Xbox, Its better, has better games, multiplats (hehe.. Dead space... hehe)and AMAZING exclusives plus You get free online play. and The PS3 looks better as well :)

I would recommend a PC, but PS3 is good as well.. and If you into that kind of gaming.. Wii, Ultimately almost EVERY console is better than Xbox360 in numerous ways..

get a Pc, I use the 360 controller on it, you got freedom of choice. I also own a 360, but I only use it for the odd game that won't make it to the Pc.

I know its off topic, but I find the 3xbl avatars head size to be creepy, makes you look like a bratz doll (no offence)

on topic, yeah If you can fund it, a gaming pc is the way to go but if you cant the ps3 serves almost any function
