Didn't like Dark Souls at all, it pails in comparison to Demon's Souls. From what I have seen and heard of Dragon's Dogma I can't wait to pick it up. Looks like a much better game.-Renegade

Well, I played all three. Over 500 hrs into Demon's and Dark Souls and those games absolutely trump Dragon's Dogma. The intro song at the main menu in Dragon's Dogma is sooo bad I almost didn't play the game. That was a sign of what was to come I guess.

Dark Souls is the better game, but it isn't for everyone. If you can't cope with the difficulty then the game will mostly just gather dust.

Dragons Dogma easily, Dark Souls bloody sucks and is seriously over hyped IMO. According to DS fans here on GS, the reason I dont like it is because its too hard for me, its nothing to do with the game being annoying and repetetive or anything.

pelvist

The game's annoying and repetitive? How so?

...You kill the same things over and over, traverse the same areas and die over and over. If thats not repetitive and annoying then what is it? ...Oh right, its the awesome Dark Souls gameplay!

So it's only repetitive because you die a sh*t ton? Try not dying? Kill the same things over and over again? Dark Souls exponentially increased the number of enemies in the game. It's amazing how much variety there is when it comes to enemies. There are also multiple areas with tons of secrets to find if you search. Sure you traverse the same area over, but most of the time it's to make short cut to new areas or to get loot. If you play for at least 15 hours you can get a fast travel (Have to finish Anor Londo).

Basically, I'm a hardcore fan of Fantasy RPG's, and I want to get another one for Christmas. I've already composed my Christmas Wish List (so don't bother advising something different from the two choices given), and I'm stuck between these two to finish it off. I'm afraid I'll never get by Dark Souls cuz of its difficulty, but I'm equally afraid that Dragon Dogma's overall quality and storyline isn't up to scratch. Help?

DoctorWho88

You're a hardcore fan of fantasy RPGs who doesn't own Dark Souls...

Or Dragon's Dogma...

And came to ask for System War's opinions...

I rented Dragons Dogma. Game kinda sucks ass. Got some cool ideas, but it is seriously hampered by some ridiculous design choices.

Dark Souls, best dungeon crawler I have played in a long time. I feel like Dark Souls is one of those games that really pushes the storytelling medium of games forward, there is a ridiculous amount of lore to the game and there is a lot of stuff that is connected by the lore, that is all found out by piecing together what the hell happened. Add in a setting inspired by Berserk and a good combat system and you have yourself a stellar dungeon crawler.

The only complaint I have with the game is that it needs tweaking out of the box on PC for the game to really shine, which shouldn't be a problem if you get it on console.

Are you looking for a challenge or for a mediocre RPG?

If your answer is the first one then go for Dark Souls.
