I heard some people say that the intercooler makes things worse for the box is this true????KillaHalo2o9I say yes it is worse, those things just suck more dust into the console. Just make sure it has plenty of room around it to breathe and that its on a hard surface thats not near a heating vent.
If your system isn't a launch unit, don't buy anything. You don't need it.nyoroism
hmmmmm it isnt lol :)Â
My system IS a launch unit. I've had it since late November, 2005. I've never used a cooling fan, and I've never had any trouble with the console. Just be sure to give your 360 some breathing room in your entertainment center or wherever you put it. Ventilation FTW!!!!joe_g_patton
Yea sure do its right in the middle of my living room :)Â

That won't save all launch units (giving them room), but since your system isn't a launch unti you shouldn't need anything (albeit it does need to breath still).
The intercooler is flawed in design. It should have never been a intermediate between the power supply and the 360. The better approach if you're really worried is a USB cooling unit of some kind.

Funny you say launch systems are the only ones that fail. I bought mine 8 months after launch and the HDD failed followed by the 3 red lights of death. Sent it in and they gave me a new 1. The only thing it does is occasionally freeze during a game.

What does that have to do with a system overheating?stay away is my best advice it is the destroyer of 360's i belive it is what caused 60% of hardware failures. my friend had it and it got so hot that it melted the plastic off of the back of his 360 and fryed the power chord he sent pictures in to microsoft and nyko so we will see if they send anything back but hes not the only one who has had problem with this thing im sure. it only seems to help the aunch consoles the 06 models it destroys, so just stay away if you want to have a working 360.STABW0UND
oooo dam that sucks Â
I've heard some bad things about those.
Best thing you can do for your 360 is just give it more than enough room to breathe on all sides. Make sure it is not in a closed cabinet or too close to walls, especially at the back where the heat comes out. Oh and keep it off the floor, as well as the power brick.

Just because it has a higher chance when it's hot, doesn't mean it won't happen when it isn't.[QUOTE="casey7672"][QUOTE="nyoroism"]If your system isn't a launch unit, don't buy anything. Man I hope they fix this issue when the 65NM CPU comes out :)KillaHalo2o9
I heard some people say that the intercooler makes things worse for the box is this true????KillaHalo2o9
The intercooler is plugged into the 360s power socket. Therefore, it is the first to take power and it gives the 360 leftovers. Many intercooler users reported burn marks on and near the power socket.
It also sucks in more dust and voids your warrenty.
Â
PS3 owners should also avoid the intercooler (yes, it is also out for the PS3).Â

No when i got my 360 the first thing i did was put an Intercooler on it. Half a min later it crashed. The Intercooler steals power from the 360.
LISTEN WELL
IN THREE MONTHS OR LESS YOU WILL GET THE THREE RINGS OF DEATH. IT WILL NOT DESTROY YOUR 360 BUT REMOVAL OF THE INTRERCOOLER WILL BE IMPERATIVE. NYKO INTERCOOLER IS BY FAR THE WORST OTHER INTERCOOLERS WITH THEIR OWN ENERGY SOURCE ARE SUPPOSEDLY FINE. Â

Wow Ihave a nyko intercooler and it never gave me trouble and sinceI live in a country where the 360 didn't launched I thought I had no warranty whatsoever..., now I enter this thread and I'm like WTF...Â

It's not installed, I don't see how it would void a warranty.

I have a launch unit and my system is in a closed space and I did not have any problems with it.
Seems like a small # of people have issues with there Boxes:)Â
Just don't get the intercooler. It's a waste of money. It's just going to get more dust into your 360.

Agree Im not going to get that time Bomb and, kill my 360 lol :)
Is there any proof to support these claims or is this case of "hear-say"?

I have no proof that it helps or not thats why I made this thread :)Â

For the intercooler interfering b/c it's between the power source and 360? Look it up online it shouldn't take you long to find some cases.
I did some reserach online, as you adviced and to be simple, seem as if you and everyone else is correct.
And with that being said, from now on, I think I am going to go without any and all cooling units attached onto it.
Also, while I am on the subject, on the left-and-right sides of the console (for the record, it is position upon 3 or 4 inch piece of smooth wood), there is about foot free space, with there being double the amount, if not more, space in the other directions. Question:Â will my console be safe?Â
On side note, seeing how I have only had it connected to my Xbox 360 for little bit under 2 weeks (with that being said, that is the same amount of time I have owned the console), hopefully, it will not have any long-term effects onto it.
Â
i ACUALLY HAVE ONE and so do all my friends and they work great, so i was going to tell you to defenately get one but all the people who DONT have one are going to say no so i wont waste my time.wiiforever25
yeah because it voids your warranty and could potentually do more harm than good.

Â
warranty is something you need if your 360 dies, which wont happen with the intercooler, and the doing more harm than good is something ms branded into peoples heads, because they didnt think of making the intercooler so they dont want people to give money to anyone else but them, and cant be proven.Â
