[QUOTE="jeezers"][QUOTE="nick31189"]i was wondering if i should i get a new Video Card or Xbox 360.nick31189
id get a 360, but what graphics card are you using now?
its the one that came with my computer, its a 128 mb graphics card. Im looking into getting a 512 mb videocard
if you have at least 2 gigs of ram and a leat a duo core processor i think youd be ight getting an 8800gt or sumptin, however id still pick up a 360 over, depends really, if your an rts guy or mmo guy the pc is reatly better than a 360
Video card, no contest.
Here's a few reasons upgrading your PC makes more sense than buying a 360...
-The 360 practically shares the same library of games with the PC, but the PC can run almost every single one of those games on higher settings.
-Any game that has online multiplayer or any sort of online feature on the 360 is on the PC as well... except you don't have to pay a monthly fee. Not only that, but PC games online helps you completely avoid the annoying 12 year old fanboys and fratboys that are so common on XBL.
the video card is a NVIDIA GeForce 8400 gs, its has 567 mhz core clock, shader model 4.0, DirectX 10 compatible, 900 mhz shader clock, its 64 bit interface, and a bunch of other things.nick31189GET A NEW ONE! lol and get gaming! (try crysis/crysis warhead)

whats ur PC's Power supply?

Get a new video card. They're very cheap and extremely high performance. All you have to do is upgrade one component to your existing PC and it will have as much as 8x the system RAM and as much as twice the video RAM as an Xbox 360, along with many times the pixel shaders, higher clock speeds, etc.
Your PC will be much, much better than an Xbox 360. As far as the software....there's a lot of great stuff on Xbox 360, no doubt. But a large, large chunk of that is also available on PC or is coming to PC (high likelihood anyway).
My biggest complaint against the XBox 360 is that it doesn't use dedicated servers and it has junk for user-created content. All PC games have dedicated servers and you don't have to pay for them. Also, servers can be as chock full of user created mods, maps, and models as the server owner desires. Not so on Xbox. You boot up a game and you play what's on the disc. Something to think about.
I'm in the same position and I'm totally in favor of a videocard....with one difference....I DO own a PS3. Even so, if I could erase my PS3, I'd still go with the videocard with full confidence.

9800 GT is basically an 8800 GT that debuted late last year if I recall. It will run almost anything. It's much more powerful than the GPU in the Xbox 360. $100 after rebate.

Make sure you get the right model (premium), get an extra controller, make sure you get a network adapter if you're wireless, make sure you have the proper hookups for your (hopefully) HDTV, make sure you pick up an Xbox Live sub card....

that card:
-PCI Express 2.0 x16
-6-pin power slot (usually for a 500w+ card)
If you don't have either of those things it starts to get complicated.
You have a tight budget. If you've gotta buy a new PSU you may wanna fugettaboutit.

(if possible, and only if could u ge tthe serial code on ur current graphics card?)
Oh, damn. PCI has next to nothing in terms of graphics card. MISSION ABORT!
You have to have a PCI-express mo-bo to even begin to consider buying graphics card.
yea but 500W PSU will last for a long time, also a 360 is $200 and w/ the 60GB/hdd/3month XBL $300, and hes on a $140 budget... hmmIf you don't have either of those things it starts to get complicated.

Exept for halo 3, Fable 2, bango, Gears 2, and with the exeption of left for dead, there isnt too much to look forward to this quarter , but next year there will be some, Dawn of war 2, Diablo 3, and so on, hed be better off getting a 360 waiting 4 months and then getting a new graphics card since prices are always going down and new ones always comming out, but thats my opinion.

Whats PSU? My Computer is belivive is either Agp or PCI, i don't know if i have a PCI express slot
PSU is power supply.
If you have PCI you're going to need a new motherboard before you buy a videocard. A PCI express videocard. PCI is a defunct standard. Everything's PCI express now. The last videocard that I bought in AGP was a 7800 GT. This card is balls compared to the 8000, 9000 NVIDIA series.
Basically, you need a power supply that's 500 W or above, and if you have PCI or AGP you need to buy a PCI express motherboard before you can upgrade your videocard.

Sure because all that is required right? :|
No, you basically have to buy the box and then you get to stare at it while it sits in the corner and makes noise.BobHipJames
Kind of like he's going to do when he opens up that video card box eh? Except for the noise part of course. I didn't know the video card jumped out of the box and magically started playing games.
i think you might want to look at a radeon hd3850 512mb AGP Card, although i'm not sure what power supply it requires possibly around 400 watts, which I would imagine requires a psu upgrade. As others have said, this may not be worth doing in the long run as it is likely that the rest of the system is outdated and the simplest solution is just to buy a console.
BUT, no doubt you can get both a power supply and a card, either that one or a x1950 pro Agp card for around 150 if you shop around and that will enable you to play most games at reasonable settings and of course all of the pc library of past games at their highest settings, that's games 2006 and before i would have thought.

Just shop around. Putting it together is as easy as playing as doing a short children's puzzle, pieces click into their places , job done. Your choice though.
Well before you go out and buy a video card suggested by anyone here, you should be sure you know the type of slot your computer has for a video card ;)
Download EVEREST Free Edition here, install it and click on the motherboard tab and tell us the model of your motherboard. We can then look up what kind of graphics card your motherboard would support. :)
EDIT: Actually you can just tell us the model of your computer and we could look that up.
