But my current PC is not very powerful to enjoy Skyrim in all its glory . Win 7 32 HP , Core i3 3.06 Ghz . 4 gb DDR 3 Ram , HD Raedon 1 g.b 6670 .

Should i get Skyrim for PC or for consoles ( Xbox 360 / PS 3 ) to enjoy Skyrim with smooth graphics , gameplay and no lag ?

You'll be able to do medium/high just fine. Just don't crack up the view distances sliders to max. Use FXAA instead of real AA.

Of course. What settings you can have depends on what resolution you're playing at.

Get it on the PC.

Skyrim on Radeon HD 6670

Settings at "Ultra" preset, 4xAA, 16xAF, 1680x1050 resolution, presuming v-sync is on (no off option). Preset augmented with FXAA on, decals set to ultra and shadows to high. This run gives 20 min, 65 max and 33 avg FPS.

Though you have already said your getting it on PC, I'll post this for those that come here also wondering what to get it on.

-The game runs fine. I have a 460 and have had no issues at all.

-You will have mods which is easily the biggest reason to get the PC version over the consoles.

-The 2nd biggest reason is mouse and keyboard. Yes, there is a 'favorits' system, but on the PC, you can map the items/spells to your '1,2,3,etc...' keys which make the gameplay much smoother and involved. You can even map potions which helps in those tough boss fights that can last minutes at a time.

-As with all PC games, it has the potential to look better and run better. If you have the PC, you can go above 720, above 30 fps, and put the graphics at whatever you want.

I hope this helps to remind people why they built a gaming PC and why they should get this amazing game on PC.

Consoles wont run the game at 720p. They'll upscale it. I think you'll run it at 1920x1080 with almost everything but AA and AF turned on.

I would recommend the 360 version. On the skyrim forums most pc gamers are complaining about issues and most are using the 360 controller. One guy said he played both the pc and 360 versions and they both look the same

I've been playing the PC version for about 17 hours without any glitches or crashes, it's the least buggy Bethesda games I've played on PC. I'm using a 360 controller so the UI isn't a problem. Also major reviewers have mentioned the PC version looks better graphically, at the very least the game will look much sharper and clearer, and in the future be modded to look better (Morrowind looks almost current gen with mods, the same will happen with Skyrim most likely).

Accordign to the devs themselves, LOW setting son PC = console settings.

I've seen both of them side by side (PC at ultra and xbox 360 version). The biggest differences are in view distance, texture quality and resolution. Proper AA and AF make a really big difference in this game, since much of it takes place outside in a huge open world.

The only bad thing about the PC is the UI being VERY controller centric - but you cna always plau in a controller if you want. I've bene playig with mouse and keyboard msotly (because I hate aiming with two stupid analog sticks, and I hate having to move to quick save, and it's ok. you get used ot he clunky console interface after a while.

Also, that brings me to the next point. Only the PC version has a quick save key ;) This is a game where you better be quick saving.

Which forum would that be? The technical help forum for the PC section? :| PC version looks a good bit better than the 360 version. Not sure where you came to the conclusion that "most" PC players are using the Xbox controller, or why that should matter. Anyway, here's a screenshot of the Xbox360 version I've found on Gametrailers forum:

Im a console gamer mostly, but even i know Skyrim is better on PC , cause of all the mods and better graphics. If your PC can run Skyrim on Max settings then yes , you should get it for PC.

Way to discredit yourself with that picture. That is obviously a glitch of some sort which is not that common for the 360 version(Which I own and play). Its at the college, missing walls, floor, and other decorations. Dont lie to try and make a point.

If you want the copy with the most possibility, go with the PC. If you prefer something simple, or do not have a capable PC, go with the consoles. Game is great on whatever platform you choose.

Unreal is basically a liar trying to use that picture as proof. Sad Sad

Bethesda has already announced that Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been optimized to run on the Xbox 360, but this doesn't mean that the game will look best on the consoles. Todd Howard recently described the benefits of playing Elder Scrolls V on PC. In a recent interview, Todd Howard toldoursource that any modern PC would run Skyrim just fine, but there's plenty more to be expected for higher end PC's.

It's designed to run on an XBox 360, so any even vaguely modern PC will run it just fine. If you do have a beastly PC though, you'll be able to enjoy higher resolution, bigger textures, and all the other lovely features you've come to expect. If you're running DirectX 11, you'll get some performance gains, but their desire for "parity of performance" across all platforms prevents them from using any of its unique features. Still, the game will be best on PC.

Whatever platform you're purchasing Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim it'll be available this November on PS3, Xbox 360, and of course PC.

Links are not working, just do a "bing" search and you will find this exact quote.

Depends on your particular PC and whether you prefer playing games on it or your console. You really cant go wrong with either. It's an epic game so you win just by playing it.

Almost all games on console are upscaled. This is common knowledge to people interested in graphics. Skyrim is no doubt the same.

"Almost all"? What percentage is that? Also, still waiting for an actual, reputable source on Skyrim being sub-HD; "no doubt the same" isn't going to cut it.

Extra steps add to difficulty(which does not necessarily make it "hard", just more difficult in comparison). I never once said that the PC is difficult, but compared to the PC there is more work required.

You have to check your compatibility, you have to actually install the game, and to enjoy mods, you have to download/install those as well.(and hope they werent malicious.) So get over yourself ;)

The PC can outperform Consoles, but to say that it is better in everyway for every user is ridiculous. So keep trying :D :D :D :D

The issues they are having with the UI is that Bethesda basiclaly built it for gamepads and not mouse and keybaord. It's extremly dumbed down, and not very intutitve.

But on Pc you have the option fo using a gamepad if you want to (and you can stand aiming with the two stupid analog sticks).

I've been using the mouse and keyboard, and while it's clunky, it's still way better for comabt and specially archery than the analog controller.

Wish I could change on the fly between the two. I prefer the controller when riding my horse.

I can see how either of the console versions are "simple" compared to the PC version if you have trouble clicking on 'install' in the game launcher.

What are those extra steps? Clicking on "install"? That's the only step I can see. I never said you did say the PC is difficult.
The guy was told his PC is compaitble in here. Not sure why you wrote the comment on mods. Thos are an added bonus and aren't required to play the game.

I never said it was better in every way. But I will take your advice and "keep trying" starting now:

  • Higher resolution (by far)
  • More variety of controls
  • New weapons
  • New skins
  • New armour
  • Graphical modifications
  • Better graphics as default
  • Higher framerate
  • Quicker load times

I guess now I can indeed say that the PC version is better in every way. :D

You have to check your compatibility, you have to actually install the gameImportBMWRacer

It takes 5 seconds to look at the minimum and recommended steps and the game autoconfigs the settings when you first run it so you don't have to touch anything. You have to install the game on PS3 too, so I'm not seeing how installing is a problem for PC. And if you don't install for xbox the load times are slow as heck.

and to enjoy mods, you have to download/install those as well.(and hope they werent malicious.) ImportBMWRacer

If you get mods from a reputable source (i.e. if you use common sense), you're not going to get a malicious mod. You're trying to make it sound complicated but it really isn't.

[QUOTE="indzman"]

I've Oblivion for PC . PLUS i'm very interested to play Skyrim with mods as i enjoyed Oblivion highly on PC .

What you suggest ?

ronvalencia

Get it on the PC.

Skyrim on Radeon HD 6670

Settings at "Ultra" preset, 4xAA, 16xAF, 1680x1050 resolution, presuming v-sync is on (no off option). Preset augmented with FXAA on, decals set to ultra and shadows to high. This run gives 20 min, 65 max and 33 avg FPS.

Wow seriously? I have a 580 and it recommended me high settings. Never tried upping the settings cause I was afraid it would go choppy.

[QUOTE="-Unreal-"][QUOTE="lowe0"][QUOTE="-Unreal-"] Almost all games on console are upscaled. This is common knowledge to people interested in graphics. Skyrim is no doubt the same.

"Almost all"? What percentage is that? Also, still waiting for an actual, reputable source on Skyrim being sub-HD; "no doubt the same" isn't going to cut it.

I'm not your curier. Go look yourself. Whether or not you believe the game runs at 720p or not is irrelevant.

You really think I didn't make sure I had a source on Skyrim's resolution before sticking my neck out? Beyond 3D's resolution thread has it at 720p w/ FXAA.

I simply have said it is more difficult in comparison, though that does not alwaysmake the task "hard".(just more difficult in comparison)

Plus dont you realize the stigma that goes with gaming on the PC? The vast majority of PC owners(that I deal with on a day to day basis) have pcs that have difficulty playing the new sims(on low-medium settings). To dismiss additional steps when in all reality add to the complication, is ridiculous.

Stop with elitist views. Each have pros-cons.

PC will always have the best possibilites, but that does not mean that your gaming experience will encompass the best of everything.

So rather than comparing possibility, to a static console, we leave the discussion as I said previously.

Go for the PC if you want the most options/possibilites. Console for ease of use, or your PC cant handle the game.

Wow, I really cant believe how hard you are trying. LOL

Agreed on all points.

Been off the boards a few years, the one factor that I always present is the comfortability of the controller, as a personal preference of course.

[QUOTE="-Unreal-"][QUOTE="lowe0"][QUOTE="-Unreal-"] Consoles wont run the game at 720p. They'll upscale it.

Link to your source?

Almost all games on console are upscaled. This is common knowledge to people interested in graphics. Skyrim is no doubt the same.

Digital Foundry has confirmed 720p. So again, what was your evidence before making your statement?

PC version is a no brainer considering the vastly bigger value you're getting for the same price (hundreats of mods and better graphics). If you don't have a good gaming rig., then you should get the 360 version.

The PC version I hear isn't that much more impression so if your PC can't run it at recommended specs might as well stick with the console version.
