PLEASE READ THIS FIRST:

I have both consoles so I am unsure. However, I have a 40" 1080p HDTV with RGB FULL, and with HD 7.1 surround sound that support DTS-MA (HD), Dolby TrueHD, and Linear PCM (LPCM 5.1 or 7.1). So I am not sure if Skyrim will output in Linear PCM but whenever I play a PS3 game it says LPCM on the audio-receiver. Please help me out here!

Flip a coin. Alternatively, whichever you can find for cheaper.

The 360 is getting exclusive DLC. If you refuse to get the superior PC version, then the 360 is the second-to-worst choice.

Well, I figured there was a possibility of getting Linear PCM on the PS3 version (better audio quality then) - so thats why I was leaning towards that BUT I love Xbox Live and purchasing my add-ons through Microsoft rather than Sony.

Well, nevermind..... I'm assuming you have it on because your TV has a crappy contrast ratio.

Does it really? I had my TV professionally calibrated and well he put it on; however he did mention like you said if you have a poor contrast ratio you're going to crush the blacks with it. I don't remember the contrast ratio, but I believe it was rather high. Its a Sony 40XBR4.

Based on how Fallout 3 played on PS3, Skyrim's timed exclusivity with DLC on 360, and the fact that Oblivion on PS3 didn't get all the DLC content available on 360, I would absolutely recommend getting it on 360.

I just checked that out and well when they say "exclusive" they mean the 360 is getting the DLC first about 30 days at least before any other console.

and is 30 days even too long? Im sure you're still going to be spending 30 days playing the normal game. Again.. just buy it on the platform you prefer to play on..they are going to be similar. I dont know what everyone else is on about..fallout 3 played fine on my ps3. (hated the game though...ehhh...)

Is it higher than 7500:1? I had a Vizio LCD with a 4000:1 contrast ratio and the black level was horrible on Limited, so I had to use Full even though it crushed blacks.

But then I upgraded to a Philips Led with 110000:1 contrast ratio, and Limited looked way better than Full RGB. All Full RGB did on my LED was crush blacks and oversaturate colors. So I guess it just depends on the TV.

id imagine both versions will be identical except the 360 version will run better as usual from pc devs. i suppose if youre interested in dlc then thats even more in the 360's favor. getting the dlc 30 days earlier is something i guess, but i remember hearing that the bugs in a lot of the dlc for fallout 3 ps3 were just about game breaking and i wouldnt want to take that chance.

it boils down to whichever controller you prefer rally as both versions will be identical, yes the 360 gets 30 day exclusive DLC but i am sure you can keep yourself busy with the main game for 30 days so i really don't see it as a deciding factor, also, don't listen to people who say bethesda games run better on 360, that was with the old engine, they are using a new engine for skyrim that is optimised for all systems

I'd get it on PS3. The multiplat difference hype has got to be the biggest exageration coming out this gen. Also if you get it for PS3 you won't have to worry about buying new batteries for your 360 controller. I also prefer getting a game on bluray over a scratch prone DVD.

Why does everyone STILL think RGB Full is better? It crushes your colors unless you are using a computer monitor. Its not intended for regular HDTVs.

or the one furthest along in it's dev cycle, i am confident that both versions will be identical, the only difference between the 2 will be the 30 day timed DLC oon the 360 but with a game as big as skyrim i don't see timed DLC being a huge deciding factor.

Bethesda games have traditionally performed better on the 360 than the PS3 (with the exception of Oblivion, which was released a year after the 360 version). I also greatly prefer the 360's controller (my hands don't cramp up using it), so I will be getting it for that.

Bethesda has only shown footage of the 360 version, and it looks great, so it's a safe bet. We don't know anything about the PS3 version, so it's kinda hard to say.

The only significant difference from past Bethesda games (FO3/FONV before patched) was that the PS3 versions lacked anti-aliasing.

Oblivion on the other hand, was optimized for the PS3 by 4J studios instead of ported from the 360. And it was native 1280x720, while the 360 version ran in 1024x600. They had an entire year to optimize it for the PS3 though.

If Skyrim will be a simple 360 port like FO3/FONV, then it's likely that it will lack anti-aliasing on the PS3. I don't think there will be any other significant differences besides that.

Since my Xbox 360 has the E74 error, I'm getting Skyrim for my PS3. Hopefully there will be anti-aliasing because FONV's jaggies hurt my eyes :P

Honestly, what you said is correct... both versions will be badass. It's just a question of tiny little differences that only matter on forums like this. But considering those tiny little differences, I'd say Xbox... by a hair.

Not true, they have shown off a few PC screens. They never said which ones are PC though (but teh guys at the Bethesda Forums have found 2 PC screens due to the high AA in them).

You can play the Lord of the Rings soundtrack while playing with the X360 version.

Not a big deal, but it really added to my atmosphere roaming the landscape with epic music on when I was playing Oblivion on 360.
