They're last place. There's no way they can catch up. Should they just give up and sell themselves to Microsoft?

uuuh no? Nintendo lost in sales vs PSone AND PS2 but did they sell themselves to SONY? NO! that is so ridiculous
They're still turning a profit and they're still making cracking games. There's no reason at all for them to quit now. It's like with Nintendo during the Gamecube era.

Sega lost sales to the PS2, and they gave up. Plus, Sony does other things besides gaming. If their gaming division is sucking it up, they can sell it to microsoft for profit and stick to Television and Video Player sales.
should fanboys just.....give up?:?killa4lyfeWell, that would certainly be nice, but here we are in the System Wars anyway.

ok let's see here
Nintendo didn't give up even after 2 gens o failiure, MS didnt give up after the first so what makes you think sony WILL
like somebody said before sony IS making games and ps3's ARE selling
no reason to give up
Nintendo still had and has the advantage of having the industry's most recognizable characters as well as the most die hard fanboys to support them. Sony doesn't have a mascot to stand on - nothing that people will blindly buy regardless of quality (I'm still wondering how Sonic is still around.)They're still turning a profit and they're still making cracking games. There's no reason at all for them to quit now. It's like with Nintendo during the Gamecube era.

Should the Chicago Cubs give up playing ball and disband? With the respective goals in comparison, I'd say things look worse for them. Why should Sony give up? Just learn from the mistakes out of the gate made this gen. They're last place. There's no way they can catch up. Should they just give up and sell themselves to Microsoft?
TheElfChild
Not this gen. But a "lost" gen is not reason for leaving. So do you believe Sony has a chance of catching up then?

Although I think it would be awesome if Sony and Microsoft teamed to make a power house console... 1. Sega gave up because they lacked money to continue. While Nintendo did make money after two fail consoles so they could continue. 2. Sony is making money. If Sony gaming department was sucking up MORE than they were making in all other departments combined then they would had given up. 3. The Xbox 360 is behind Nintendo, got a year head start, and looks like they can never out sell the Wii. Should Microsoft just... give up?They are in first place in my book for consoles (PC is #1). I play games, not sells. They're last place. There's no way they can catch up. Should they just give up and sell themselves to Microsoft?

So why is it that everyone here who makes posts about Sony's failure act like they should just give up?
Neither Sony Corporation in general nor Sony Computer Entertainment (the Playstation division) are turning profits right now. They're still turning a profit and they're still making cracking games. There's no reason at all for them to quit now. It's like with Nintendo during the Gamecube era.

My mistake. So with this in mind, don't you think selling the gaming division to Microsoft is a good idea? Of course not. Considering how MS are handling their first party games division, that'd be a horrible idea.[QUOTE="Silent-Hal"][QUOTE="UnnDunn"] Neither Sony Corporation in general nor Sony Computer Entertainment (the Playstation division) are turning profits right now.TheElfChild

Sony is still awesome, they should never give up I say! Microsoft may have more options on their consoles, but what would this world be like with only one console to play on?

What do you mean by Options, because last I checked the PS3 has more. (Bluray, Internet, Compatibility with more video and sound formats...)Sony is still awesome, they should never give up I say! I found this: http://www.edge-online.com/news/sony-shares-lowest-16-years
But it says it's not because of the gaming devision, it says Sony is just doing bad overall.
"Sony's current financial troubles, however, do not seem to be so intrinsically connected to the PS3's sales performance. Sony said it sold 2.4 million PS3 units in the quarter, which would make that an 86 percent rise on the same quarter last year."
The PS3 is selling well and is actually outselling the 360 in some parts of the world. The sales numbers are not that much better for the 360 over PS3 here in the US. WHY would Sony give up? Their product is selling well, plus the PSP is too, and so is the PS2. They aren't 'in first place', but so what? Sony has 2 gaming consoles, and 1 portable console that's generating revenue. The PSP isn't outselling the DS, but that doesn't mean it's a failure and not selling well. The PS2 is a decade old and is still selling well, and the PS3 is not far behind in sales compared to the 360. Doesn't sound like a company that should give up... :roll:Doolz2024According to one poster, they have all this, and are yet still in the red for profit.
According to one poster, they have all this, and are yet still in the red for profit. I didn't say they were doing the best profit-wise, but the bottomline is their consoles are selling. No matter what there's no need to give up as you claim they should do.. :P[QUOTE="Doolz2024"]The PS3 is selling well and is actually outselling the 360 in some parts of the world. last place? Nintendo makes money from Wii and DS/DSi. Sony from PS3, PS2, and PSP. Microsoft from Xbox 360 and Live Fees. When you add up the profits, it goes Nintendo > Sony > Microsoft.
Troll Fail
peole do know that in 07 and 08 combined PS3 outsold 360 world wide right? the only reason 360 has a lead is becuase of that year headstart they haven't been able to pull away from the 360 at all and also here's an even better question why the hell to we care about sales so much? if a game sells bad does that make it bad? the wii is selling the most right now does anyone in their right mind thinks it the best console out there right now? 360 and PS3 have great gamess and in my book they're 1 and 2 and the wii isn't even in the same catagory with them

Where's your evidence? Also, if you're counting gaming industry sales, you might as well include every PC that is purchased with windows on it. I'm pretty sure that puts Microsoft even before Nintendo as far as profits are concerned. Please Log In to post.
