Should the PS3 be discontinued in the US?

I know the PS2 was great and a there's a lot of PS babies out there but this is a business and we have to be logical. The 360 has destroyed the PS3 in america and now they are even dominating the Wii.

There is no longer a reason to even keep the PS3 on the shelves in america. Unless Sony is a masochist and wants to keep losing money. Move will fail big also btw and maybe then more people will listen.

I know the PS3 is popular in Japan and to some degree in Europe so it's fine if they continue to carry it there. But come on, in the US let's just stick a fork in it, it's done!

I know it's hard PS babies, but it's about time you let it go.

The PS3 is still selling, so no. Also, the 360 isn't dominating the Wii, as it sold far less in the May/April/March/Jan NPD results for 2010.

wow for 2 generations Sony has been domination the industry, they have a rough start in this generation and people wanna make topics about them being discontinued, if this was the case can't you say the same for the xbox last generation or the nintendo 64, if you don't like the ps3 then simple enough don't purchase one easy as that

The 360 is destroying the Wii? Doubt it. And the 360 has what, sold maybe a few million more units than the PS3? That's not necessarily dominating. To say Sony should remove the PS3 from the United States isn't logical at all - why would you remove your product from the country that is the biggest financer of the video games industry? Lets be real here? Stop posting joke topics and start using your brain before you believe you have a valid argument.

July's NPD results haven't been released yet and June's is easy... Xbox dominated due to a new hardware release, i.e. the 360 S. Hardware revisions such as the "slims" (as they have become known as) generally boost sales rather well. MS also did well with staggering it's new Arcade launch AFTER the S initial launch, thus keeping up the sales.

Also, the Wii has far outsold both in the States, so how can it be top dog. Again, use facts my friend, facts.

He's an elitist because he feels that his "gaming experience" is better than others, because he started sooner. A gamer who started later can be much more knowledgable than someone who started sooner.

Well, that's VGChartz, so automatic :lol: right there. I also don't doubt 360 will beat PS3 in July NPD's. As I said earlier, MS' staggered launch of the new S and Arcade S had the potential to keep sales up longer.

Unfortunately, one or two months doesn't mean much in the long run. PS3 sells more than enough to be a viable system to sell in the States.

the US is the largest and by far most important market in the world... its the holy grail for all these companies. If they cant be competitive here they cant be competitive anywhere.

You can reach half the world gaming market with a US release, thats 1 set of regulations... in order to utilize the rest of the world you have to tailor your releases specifically for each country's laws, languages, cultures. The US market is where all the money is, without it you are doomed.

Did Nintendo just give up on the market and stop making consoles/games?

At one point every company will be in last place in something.

The only thing that matters is the PS3 is getting games despite its lower userbase. It is getting exclsives and as well as great multiplats. The Wii is last place in game quality.

This just in, all companies must discontinue their product when they are "last", especially in a 3-product race. It's Coke vs Pepsi vs Sprite and Sprite doesn't sell quite as well as Pepsi, so let's can it! Yea its in last place and got a great lineup of games coming for it, something the almighty 1st place Wii cant say for itself.
