Why would I be? I have a high end PC where I play most of my games.Mirrors Edge on my 4 year old computer on max settings. I'm surprised there are so many Mirrors Edge screenshots. It is obviously one of the best looking games. The funny thing is that there are parts that look like a N64 game like the water and some of the buildings in the distance.

This is on my system and even this is a serious dip in quality to what I actually see when I play. but its better than screenshots
Yes, I know this. I just think it's hilarious when people try to use identical screenshots as ownage. I've actually had the opportunity to play both Skyrim and BF3 on Ultra @ 1080p (I think the framerate was 45-55). The framerate was the most noticeable difference. It felt really smooth. I could definitely see the large leap in texture resolution and effects, but I didn't feel like I was missing out when I went back to the console version. Skyrim, on the other hand, was very disappointing. The leap was very miniscule. I was playing at night, though, so maybe that's why. I'll try it at daytime the next chance I get. Overall, neither game made me want to rush out and get a gaming PC and if next gen consoles just up the resolution and AA I won't bother with them either until the exclusives pour in. I'm actually the kind of guy that would prefer to own a customizable PC instead of a console, but unfortunately, consoles offer me exclusives I want that aren't on PC and the PC doesn't offer me any interesting exclusives that I can't max out on my non-gaming laptop. I don't like shooters, WRPGs, or RTS so I could be forever doomed to be a console kiddie.[QUOTE="ActionRemix"][QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]As others have said screenshots never even come close to what you actually see when you're playing and it's frustrating cos guys like you see them and think it looks the exact same but it really doesn't if you see it first hand. That's the problem with screenshots. they degrade the quality a lotseanmcloughlin
Well consoles aren't even native 720p yet so you will be waiting a while for native 1080p resolutions.
Also have you tried Skyrim modded? its way different to vanilla and much much better. not to mention load times are almost non existent on most PC games. Which is a huge plus for me. You enter a wrong door or enter a cave and you are stuck loading for a very long itme.
What mods do you have installed?

What mods do you have installed?
FXAA injector (The biggest change and best IMO)
2K HD textures
Realistic water textures
No more blocky faces
Detailed faces
Enhanced night Skyrim (one of my favourites)
Enhanced Distant terrain
Sunglare
I had others installed too but I got rid of them and replaced with others etc. but this is what im jamming with now and I have .ini tweaks done too slightly. Can't wait for the real mod tools to come out and everyone is using the same format to upload and create them. So much more streamlined

Some manage the 720p thing. Some manage the 1080p thing. But they are not native. most of them are below 720p and then upscaled. Same with some 1080p signals. They can't manage 720p consistently because they haven't got the power to do so. Why should I need a source when it's common knowledge?
I will go for a recent example then, BF3 came out on consoles and is not even 720p

Here is a list of native rendering resolutions for all console games (or the vast majority).
A rather large portion manage to attain native 720p. Very few attain native 1080p.

I am mistaken then. Quite a large portion of them have native 720p so I admit im wrong. But still PC has managed native 1080 for quite a while and consoles just got the 720 thing down. I don't think next gen consoles will be able to manage 1080p natively. Not all games anyway to cope with what they wanna do on screen. And by then anyway PC will be moving onwards and upwards

PC will always be ahead. It's the nature of the beast.
Because apparently anything than RAW bitmaps cause screenshots to look identical to console ports.Title should be changed to no sub-20 meg connections.
Don't know why people insist on using huge png files.

Point is even though a lot of them are 720p native, you have quite a few that are not. These are meant to be "HD" consoles for gods sake, 720p should be standard at least. Let's not even go to 1080p on consoles, because the few that do it are shall we say graphically challenged games. ( Games that don't need to render too much on screen ). Still waiting for my PS3 to be 1080p and 60FPS native, Sony told me it would be before the console launched!I normally pose these at the 'What I'm currently playing" thread in the PC page. But, I don't mind making a detour every now and then.

PNGs capture the screen pixel per pixel, no loss in quality. jpgs, like my steam screenshots, can't capture the AA or sharpness of the picture...it gets a little blurryTitle should be changed to no sub-20 meg connections.

I'm actually impressed by those Skyrim picks Ben-Buja, is that vanilla? Also seanmcloughlin, nice video.
I'll get the game eventually, after it drops in price--I'm still a bit skeptical. But that looks pretty good to me. Surprised no one posted Warhead picks--unless I missed something.

The best way to maintain quality while having a smaller file size is to save screenshots as PNG then use a program like Photoshop and convert to jpeg with a quality of 10. I compared that JPEG to a BMP file of the same screenshot and I saw no difference in quality.I'm actually impressed by those Skyrim picks Ben-Buja, is that vanilla? Also seanmcloughlin, nice video.

No, it's not vanilla. I used a whole bunch of mods, like realistic water, enhanced shaders, serious HD ground textures, Vurts Skyrim Flaura overhaul. 2 screens are with the new ENB beta version 0.99 which looks stunning in some parts but not so good in others. But it already shows a lot of potential. I'm not using it at the moment though, i'm waiting for an improved version.

Looks really good. I heard that the mods that were coming out for it were already of high quality, but I just wasn't expecting this level of quality so soon.
I'd actually post some Warhead pics, but, well, there's a reason why I don't post much in these threads--I just don't have the patience to take pics from the games I play XD. I mean, some of the visuals in the frozen landscape of Warhead were impressive as hell. Especially the ice. Who knows, maybe I'll change my mind if this thread survives for a day or so--highly doubt it XD.

Yeah it does, imagine how good the game will look once the SDK comes out. :D
If you don't want to bother taking screens while playing you can set fraps to automaticly take screens every minute or so and after the game session you can keep those that are good. That what i'm doing for fast paced action games. ^_^
Warhead looks amazing, such a joke that it didn't win best graphics that year.

Im thinking of doing that for BF3 cos if I stop to take screens I just get killed :P But I have a question, If I set it to take them every 60 seconds do I have to hit the screencap button first and then it takes them? Or is it automatically gonna do it once the game starts?
Also I can't wait for new skyrim mods to surface with the creation kit. I have a feeling some guys will push that game to its limit and we will have extraordinary graphic quality.
Will they also be able to tweak things like performance? Cos right now its ass in towns for everyone
