[QUOTE="Homesrfan"][QUOTE="GatoFeo"]Okay, here are my reasons why Wii is'nt Next-Gen. Don't get all mad and stuff. Remember, I want your to hear your reasons too!!
-It only uses 480p. No Hd.
-Cost far more least than the other guys.
-Mostly all games are average. (According to gamespot ratings)
-Hardware is much less powerful in this gen.
Well here are my main reasons. Care to share yours, :)
Have A Nice Day. :)

While I don't agree... Wii IS next gen...
And why the hell does it matter that is costs less? Or wait, more least I mean.
Using your logic. Every single plug and play system is now next gen. Graphics, Price and physics don't matter right? Graphics, AI, and physics are what make next gen. Physics being the most important. Whgy not buy a Gamecube for $250 and mod it to use the controller? I could mod both my ps3 and 360 right now to have the same exact controller functions with top graphics physics and AI.
/end
Â
No you couldnt, want to know why?Â
The GC isnt 250$ and has less power then the Wii, and has older Arch.
The PS3 and the 360 could not be mod'd as of now to even play Wii games let alone use the Wii-mote to play such games.
Physics are not important and never have been, most in game physics you see are an effect these days. Things like blowing up a propane can in Gears of war looks the same everytime, your bullets will hit the same sopt more then once. Those kind of things are what you metion and are trying to brag about, yet the only game to use some great physics was CELL FACTOR
CELL FACTOR SUCKS!!!Â
-controller doesn't make it next gen, what if it was an add on to a PS2 for example? like the eyetoy.lol another Wii hater, tell me something, do you honestly believe Wii is as powerful as the PS2?
-Hardware wise its Gamecube 1.5
-Games list is terrible when compared to the actual HD gen consoles
-Doesn't support HD
-Games are rehashed and people buy them.... (Not really a reason but is valid to why the wii sucks.)martin_f
Because its a gamecube with a new controller.
It could be comparable to playstation 2 slim with eyetoy.
Believe what ever you want to beleive fanboys its your money!Â

Ethernet > Wireless for online gaming. ANY online gamer, goes for pc gaming as well, knows this. Seeing you have a UT logo, im suprised you don't. It's nice for laptops and searching the net but horrible for gaming unless if you buy a $120 router, which the card in the Wii I very much has support for.
Wireless transfer rates are acctually faster then whatever internet you are using. The only advantage you could argue is stability, which shouldn't be a problem if you aren't too far away from the router.Â

Your physics are not important argument has me baffled.
Physics are key to motion in the game and how your actions affect the game world. The level of physics being developed for Splinter Cell Conviction, Crysis, or Uncharted blow away anything possible on the Wii.
They may not be perfect, but they're lightyears ahead of what the Wii can handle.
oh my gosh not this again....
WII IS NEXT-GEN BECAUSE ITS THE NEXT PRODUCT IN THE LINE OF NINTENDO CONSOLES, GRAPHICS, PHYSICS, AND ALL THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT BEING NEXT-GEN. AT ALL.
Video games isnt the only thing that has "next-gen" everything for toasters to humans are. I mean, if you buy a new toaster, the new one form the company your 5 year old one is, there "next-gen" toaster, to you look for how good of graphics it has, or is physics?

In his defense the best of PS2 looks better than the best Wii games released.

Got points. But can anyone define real next gen as far as gaming is concerned. Most think its about graphics, some think its about gameplay and a few think its about the overall gaming experience. Really my opinion on it is its just another generation of half ******, overpriced consoles. I mean next gen is a rip off compared to the leap we saw last gen when actual gameplay was encorporated. I mean a game hasn't hit a 10 score in years and very few have been considered likable. Last gen I owned over 50 PS2 games and there were still loads I hadn't bought, this gen I have 6 360 games that I like, I haven't bought a PS3 because all the games on that at the moment suck and the only intrest I have in the Wii is Wii sports.

in my defense this is completely untrue, SSX blur looks better than ALOT of PS2 titles, and TP simply kills the PS2 titles graphically, plus we all know that Wii's true power has yet to show, SMG looks amazing, so does brawl, MP3, and others, to top that off, RE4 is heading for the Wii, and we all know that, nothing, and i mean nothing, on the PS2 will ever touch RE4 graphically, not even it's version of the game.Okay, here are my reasons why Wii is'nt Next-Gen. Easy answer, the Wii is basically a GameCube with some memory upgrades.Â
Didn't anyone think it was strange that not only was Nintendo NOT losing money on hardware sales.....they were making a nice amount of money. Again, when the only thing you have to worry about is adding the new control scheme to the GameCube, developement costs are low as are manufacturing costs.
One could argue however that the controls are next gen......they might have a point but I still can't get over how they basically reused the GameCube hardware and passed it off as something new.
[QUOTE="Dark_Knight6"]Wii isn't next gen. It's current gen, along with the PS3 and 360.Shad0ki11
Just to add to that:
...and anyone who fails to understand that is a fool.
Well in terms of logic, Yes. But in the real world, we look at it different. You see, plp see this "Next-gen" in vary different ways. One, is that they don't even own a Next-gen consele yet. Now do you see. :)

Making games for the Wii. So easy a caveman could do it.
Â
Ps3 & 360- Games are harder to produce. Which way is more expensive. Duhhh!!!

ive been ut'ing just fine with my wireless setup for goin on 3 years now, i really think youre wrong about a $120.00 router. Im using the one that came with my ISP.(free)
seeing as my internet only runs at 3MBPS, and my wireless network runs at about ~20MBPS, i dont see whats so bad.
most fanboys don't realize that the bottle neck is usually the isp or a glitchy router not the wifi.

It is a part of the next generation of consoles because of the time it was released. Chronologically, it is a next gen system.
Next Gen does not always mean "Powerful machine or better graphics it means in what time-line it was released, mostly since the Wii is clearly the next system by Nintendo and released along with 360 and PS3 it is a next gen console, Geez...Fanboys these days...

Thank you, at least I'm not alone in this.Â
Last-gen - Same hardware architechture as the 6 year old Gamecube.... but costs $50 more than GC launced for. Same resolution as last gen. Lots of last gen ports that look prettymuch equal on PS2.
Next-gen - New controller. Virtual console and built in memory.... although VC is a total rip-off.
Â
If all "next-gen" means to you is that it is Nintendo's next console then whatever. But the Wii is undeniably ancient and overpriced in terms of hardware.Â
I don't think the Wii should be considered a console. It's more a Toy like those Fisher Price gadgets.Deihmos
I really don't understand. The Wii actually brought something new to next-gen and people are hating it for that? The PS3 and 360 are just PS2 and XBox with better GPU/CPU, if you think that the Wii is nothing special. How hard is it to put a powerful chip inside of a console? It's not hard to make something more expensive. The PS3 could have been the same price as the 360 if it lowered its graphical capabilities. The price of a console goes as high as the makers want it to be powerful.Â

The Wii was seriously just created to sell to casuals...not to help gaming grow.

And the PS2, with it's dated physics, AI, graphics, hardware, lack of reliability, and confusing online clunky system was made to advance games? Did I also mention the lack of a built in harddrive?

PS2 improved Graphics, AI, Physics, DVD Movies and Games on DVD Discs, An Attempt at online play, Dual Shock 2. Again....PS2 was a Big jump over the original PS1.
What did Wii change over GameCube? Not as much over its predecessor.
