I don't feel that way, i think the score is a good one for such a product. Honestly, you could rename the game to something else and feel as if it had nothing to do with Silent hill, it feels that off to me. The over the shoulder camera was so NOT needed, it cut the tension in half, the dogding, move sets felt less like a silent hill game. When i think SH i think of a person whos lost confused and doesn't know how to properly deal with whats going on..but with SH5 your a marine, it defeats the purpose. Go figure, an american dev team using a marine...lol. The game could have been so much more.

Well it was my first SH game so im looking at it from that perspective. I looked at your sig and you have RE in it now thats a series that has went far off from what it use to be to. I mean its not even scary anymore and there is basically no survival horror in the games anymore. But i agree RE5 looks crazy good. Survival horror is a genre that is going away slowly SIren and Dead Space and Silent Hill have basically stayed true to the genre IMO. SH:HC was hard even though you had good combat skills you would still walk around with half health most of the game and the tension was still there i cant tell you how many times i just ran away in that game.

First of all, RE was NEVER EVER scary. The new change seen in 4 was a MUCH needed change, the original formula is dated and broken, now. RE4 also had more horrific enemies, MORE so than the classic ones. If any change was for the better its RE4, the review scores and awards won show this. That being said, RE4 was amazing in every aspect NOT just the gameplay change, the story, characters, graphics everything was top notch...SH5, IMO..failed in every aspect. SH3 Still looks amazing till this day and hell, you can every compared the 2 and the difference isn't even that huge.

I would've let the gameplay slide in SH5, if the story was deep and as big as the classic ones, but it isn't. its a cheap shallow version, IMO. It didn't have heart, that fear all SH games had before Origins is GONE. both Orgins and SH5 were made by another team (american) and both sucked, go figure.

its cool for the new comers to like it, i expected as much, but if you've played and loved the originals, you wouldn't be giving much praise to 5, atleast not the majority of fans.

It seems that Double Helix took the RE path, and turned Homecoming into an action game. There was nothing remotely scary about Homecoming. The creepy atmosphere is completely gone. It's a shame too, because Silent Hill used to be my favorite Survival Horror series.

Dead Space, IMO, is the new king of Survival Horror. It's the game that Silent Hill, and RE wishes they were.

That game was very scary i wasnt even playing it my friend was and when the shark comes out that part scared the crap out of me lol

LOL, i'm a massive RE fan, and your telling me to play The Remake of 1? lol...

anyways, i repeat NONE of the older RE's were SCARY, unless you found dark rooms and weird music Scary, i didin't.

Play RE4, do the maze with the parisite dogs, better yet..say hello to the regenerators..lol.

Regenerators > Any past RE villian, IMO.

I loved it TBH. As a Silent Hill fan I would give it a 9.0 and as a gamer I'd give it an 8.0. I thought Double Helix did a great job.

I have played every Silent Hill game numerous times, and have been a huge fan since the beginning. I can safely say that Homecoming is garbage. It might pass as a decent action game, but it fails at being a horror game.

It's weird to bash a series that you've loved for years, but I'm not going to blindly deny a game's flaws. At least we still have the older SH Games.

No game has a scary atmosphere. Being scared by a game or hell even a movie is something I just don't do. But this game has shock value with things popping out at you and yeah that can make you get jumpy in suprise at a shock value moment. So yeah it may not be scary but it has its shock moments. Regenerators aren't exactly suprising.

Crimson heads are far scarier, in the same way that the older silent hills were scarier than this one. RE was hard to control so any fight with a zombie was a terrifying ordeal, the crimson heads effectively doubled this tension. Regenerators are far easier to kill and are therefore far less scary.

Nope, score seems about right, the physcological thriller that made Silent hill so popular is gone, thanks to another silly american team screwing it up, buy actionizing it with the silliest story.

Its like they thought this:

"lets just look what the other great sh titles did, add the best parts, OH yeah the iconic period head, just throw that in there and the weird little kids with bunny rabits and crayon drawings, that should be about it and keep them fooled"

For a Horror game? Graphics actually adds more to this genre than gameplay, so yeah it should...but lazy devs couldn't make this work. Oh well. Dead Space FTW.

I will chalk this up to different strokes for different folks.

Dead Space has given way to Silent Hill for me at least, After Silent Hill 3 & 4 its nice to return to the same sort of pace of the first two.
