[QUOTE="skrat_01"]Sure its great - but you have to buy the new controller - and your stuck with the 'inferiour' ones.....
It should of been the damn standard at launch. Its an improvement, but Sony is simply catchin up - to what others have.
And all it needs are some AAA exclusives, and more titles....
zero_snake99
It really wasnt sony's choice. There were lawsuits there that hindered their developement.
True but they could of just settled, like the other companies sued, instead of losing the case, then paying Immersion again to assist in development. Then this whole ordeal could have been avoided :P
[QUOTE="Haziqonfire"]Anyone find it sad that Early adopters are getting screwed more and more?
i want a PS3, but i want all this crap to end. If they wanted to add stuff, it should've been there from the start.. first removing the 20GB model, then $100 price drop on the 60GB Model, and then removing it for the 80GB model... and now 'screw the old controller, heres a new one with rumble!' All that should have been decided and finalized BEFORE the launch of the thing.

no kidding, here is my PS3 costs so far in CDN$ (keep in mind I bought at launch):
PS3 60 gig w/1 controller = 700$ w/tax
3 extra sixaxis @59.99 = 200$ approx w/tax
Wireless Headset = 79.99$
Total = 979.99
Add in 4 replacement rumble controllers @59.99 (i'm guessing) = 1219.95
ADOPTING PS3 EARLY = PRICELESS
Way too much money spent. It sucks man :(

That really sucks.....Its pretty much why I dont own a PS3 now, and went for a 360 instead - the damn price.
And its $1000 AUD here in Australia...................... And the Aussie $ is about 87 US cents........... $870 USD.......
Paying for new controllers is simply making this price hike even more woeful.

realistically i'll probably just get one rumble and let my mates play with the rumble-less ones - but still, it's ridiculous. what would be stellar is if Sony announced a sixaxis exchange program. it's really the only honorable thing to do IMO.

Evidence would be good, but I believe it. It makes lots of sense. Why code rumble into a game when the console's controller doesn't even support it? I doubt any game out right now for the PS3 has rumble.
"I believe that the Sixaxis controller offers game designers and developers far more opportunity for future innovation than rumble ever did. Now, rumble I think was the last generation feature; it's not the next-generation feature. I think motion sensitivity is. And we don't see the need to do that."Phil Harrison
I have to take every opportunity to laugh when Sony's unwavering arrogance comes back to bite them in the ass. These guys make Microsoft seem humble by comparison.
Anyone find it sad that Early adopters are getting screwed more and more?

great point!!!
and yet noone ever accuses sony of rushing the ps3 to market...
fanboys...
Sounds cool, I'll wait to get a 2nd PS3 controller, hopefully it will add some weight to it
Sounds like a lawsuit will be coming soon, microsoft owns part of immersion.kevy619
Well I am sure Sony is paying Immersion money for it, and because Microsoft owns part of it, they are getting money

I agree. The only console that has stayed the same so far is the Wii, and that's a good thing. I want a PS3, but I'm definately not throwing down $600 for the 80gb PS3 just for them to release a 50000gb PS3 with HD-DVD and Bluray capabilities and virtual reality for the same price.
Sony, make up your mind or you're ALWAYS going to be last this gen.

That's just wonderful, now people who have 4 controllers have to rebuy all 4 controllers.kittykatz5k

Don't know whats worse....... paying $50 for rumble or $50 for xbox live.
i swear between the 360 and ps3 you just have to keep waiting and waiting until you dont get screwed as bad as earlier adopters
first they got more expensive either removing core units or introducing new skus
then sony goes and pulls an xbox, causing people to want to replace their controllers
my bday is august so i really want a next gen console, but knowing theres a ps3 price drop later worries me... also i'd love a multi game as rich as halo3... but yet i still feel the ps3 is the better choice for me now
just sucks that i won't be getting rumble controllers, not only that, but they improve wireless by elimating a lot of dead zone
i really hope that sixaxis is still 40$ on amazon when i get my ps3

anyone know how long this sale lasts?
also is it possible to just use a ps2 controller while i wait for rumble to come out (for 2nd player controller)

You don't have to. What about Xbox owners having to buy a HDD, or having to pay for online. You don't have to buy those features but to get the most complete ultimate gaming expirience you sort of have to.
PS3 Early-Adopters owned, yet, yet again...
And the smart consumers who held off, only a year later they'll be getting a 40GB PS3 w/Rumble this Christmas for under $400
how is a console with no games but at least a rumbly plastic thing with buttons a success? pray, do tell.paullywogI don't see what the Wii has to do with this.

Hasn't this particular news been available elsewhere for some time now?

After the settlement with Immersion, you'd think people would get the idea that rumble was coming back to the PS3. Obviously people are oblivious to the obvious. The only question that rises is, what can rumble do now that's different from rumble of yesterday?

Well I've read some on it before and apparently its has improvements all around. More dynamic (so you can have shorter spurts, stronger or weaker vibrations, more kinds of vibrations), cheaper, takes less electricity, and can be targeted at any part of the controller.

In a private demonstration, GamePro has experienced Immersion's next-generation force-feedback controller technology first hand. The new technology allows for a far greater range and strength of "rumbling" effects, making games feel more immersive.
In addition to allowing stronger, more detailed rumbling effects in video games, Immersion's new force-feedback technology is lighter and smaller, making it much easier to integrate into game controllers.

It was actually a technology that Immerision came up and I believe presented to Sony. Although I think Sony is doing their own rumble patent from what I've read.
since it's "now complete"...
i guess that means sony has been knowinly selling INCOMPLETE consoles for $600...
wow...what a bunch of crooks....:(
that should make kojima happy,
but how will old ps3 games have rumble? though a online patch?
Mad_Rhetoric
I bet some will get a patch and then there will be those who inexplicably don't....
Sony owners wanted something and they got it, do you expect them to recall all PS3 controllers to add the feature?0bscurity
No, they didn't do it with any other controller revisions. Why would they here?

Thats because Sony DIDN'T say any of that, Immersion did.

One thing that can debunk any doubters:Game Updates.
They did it with that F1 game so Wheels could get Force Feedback, and the'll probably do it with all those other games.
