http://www.gamespot.com/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-dawnguard/reviews/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-dawnguard-review-6385352/

Conclusion: "It's too bad Dawnguard arrives with its own set of bugs, though it's not necessarily a surprising turn of events given the glitchy game it expands. The issues don't fully pull your focus from the add-on's main strengths, however. The new areas and quests make for an attractive and varied journey, and there are fun battles that punctuate an enjoyable and worthwhile addition to a wonderful game. Whether you prefer to avoid the darkness or embrace it, Dawnguard is a fine reason to return to Skyrim's wintry paradise."

-

I was kind of wishing for a Shivering Isles esque expansion, but it looks like we didn't get anything of the sort and instead more Knights of Nine like which wasn't as great. Oh well, still a good expansion though, and I still plan on picking this up later this year.

If it's anything like the PC version of Fallout 3 then it wouldn't help

that game was extremely crash prone

Heh, I never had problems with Oblivion, though I played it on windows XP

so skyrim is mostly safe? that's good, after the Fallout 3 experience I've been afraid to get Skyrim

Nah Skyrim much less buggy than Fallout 3. I have like 60 mods installed on Skyrim and rarely ever have crashes. On Fallout 3 I had maybe 20 at once and I would be lucky if it lasted an hour without crashing

I'm still struggling to generate some care for this game. Which is odd considering how much I enjoyed Oblivion. Maybe I realized the game didn't amount to much after the pretty graphics and feeling of openness (something I rarely experienced in first-person up till that point) wore off. Oh well... maybe I'll care more when I can get a computer that can run it.

Wut? :?

I expected a good 8.0 at least. Its been flopping hard at Metacritic.

Dawnguard is allegedly more packed in content than Knights of the Nine so its surprizing to find it scoring this low.

And a Shivering Isles sized expansion...according to Bethesda...is not looking very likely.

FO3/NV and oblivion all use the same engine, and it was known to be incredibly unstable. Skyrim's creation engine is a lot more stable under pressure

idk why everyone was expecting a shivering isles like expansion. bethesda even said it was more like knights of the nine. i think its in between and it also features the most beautiful location in skyrim yet. its well worth $20 imo. being able to make dragon bone weapons and arrows is nice and you get some pretty awesome equipment. i dont agree with the score, it is buggy but its at least a 8.5-9 for me

Gamespot just trying to be edgy and popular with their users again.

When Skyrim was released it was their GOTY...

now since all the buggy complaints it's just a "buggy game"

So is this DLC just a one time deal? Like you go there and after you beat it never go back? Or can you go back to the new locations? 7 isn't a bad score, it's a good score actually, I know SW thinks anything below a 9 is bad, and anything above a 9 is overrated. In real life 7 is good.

Glitches were expected, all versions of the game had bugs and to be honest it makes me look less favorably on Bethesda. Some glicthes are one thing, but much of their stuff that they let fly seems like they didn't even play test the game for these bugs.

I gotta wait 30 days just like my fellow PC games to get this DLC. By then hopefully the DLC will be fixed, guess not getting timed DLC is a good thing sometimes huh?

you can go back to the new locations. you kind of have to if you want one of the perks you get. im pretty sure you can go back to the soul cairn too. i haven't tried though but there are some missions i have to do there still. that place is kinda boring though. it gets waaaay better towards the end. i've only had 3 maybe 4 times the game froze on me and i've played alot since last week. once i fell through the floor and a few times people i tried to feed on as a werewolf disappeared after the kill animation in small caves. thats really it. nothing too bad.

Here's hoping the glitches can be fixed by the time it comes out on the PC. :D

Though to be fair, I really didn't run into many glitches in my 130+ hour run.

Well that's ok with me I suppose. Mabey we PS+ members will get a discount with it, if it features enough content to warrent $20 then I'll get it. I guess glitches arn't that bad then, there were some pretty bad bugs at launch however, some 360 users had texture problems and some PS3 users ahd lag issues, not everyone did of course but Bethesda should have spotted this stuff BEFORE they released the game lol.

My main problem with it was quests would break or those kind of things. Oh and once I saw a guy running on top of his horse and a fox running on the water. But those kind of glitches are funny :P

After I played Fallout 3, when I stepped out into the Wasteland for the first time to a vast open world in First Person. After I had my first conversation where I had so many options to choose. After I was faced with choices I didn't even realize I had, after I made the wrong choices accidentally, what would be the point of Skyrim? Fallout 3 showed it all to me first! Then I played New Vegas, which I also loved. It was a captivating universe, and I could not for the life of me decide what decision would be best for the endgame when it came down to it. On of my favorite moments was making the mistake of getting the Legion to all attack me during a critical mission, and I had to grind until I had what it took to destroy Caesar himself. One of my favorite moments of gaming was when I managed to slaughter the entire outer guards and entered Caesar's tent and fired a Rocket straight at him as he sat in his stupid chair completely unaware of his impending doom!!!

So then I got Skyrim! Guess what? THAT SETTING IS STUPID! I hated it. I realized how much I hated that fantasy setting, how little it makes sense. You can't have this interesting dynamic of right and wrong because it isn't ambiguous! You know what you want to do, and if you don't it's because it wasn't clear. The gameplay was no better or worse than Fallout, the graphics slightly better, maybe slightly less glitchey (I didn't run into too many problems) but Fallout wins out so heavily in story and intrigue. Skyrim is overrated imo, way overrated.

Oh and another thing, Fallout didn't always take itself too seriously. It was charming. You know those games that just put a smile on your face, not necessarily one of sheer satisfaction, or laugter, just genuine blissful enjoyment? I got that from New Vegas. Never from Skyrim.

I'm guessing Zenimax forgot to buy enough advertising space on review sites for the expansion compared to the main game judging by the scores. That or reviewers woke up and realized the game was just a tad bit overhyped.

Skyrim is a joke. How can you make a game with 3 voice actors?

After the glitching nightmare that I had with skyrim, nothing would make go back for more, I don't buy dlc anyways. My ps3 version was just horrible even after 5 patches while my cousin's version was running ok

without the 360, there would be no beta testing.
