[QUOTE="Grawse"]Skyrim is a joke. How can you make a game with 3 voice actors?Goyoshi12
SKYRIM. We're talking about SKYRIM.
Not Oblivion.
Skyrim still has like 5 male and 5 female actors if even that. You hear the same voices and see the same faces everywhere, it's stupid.
How else did that Arrow to the knee stuff get started?

Yeah and so did Morrowind really and no one seems to care about that....
Also it started because it was one of those things that all the guards in Skyrim said.

I never really understood the gripe with the combat...what's so bad about it, exactly? I mean...tons of other games have WORSE combat than Skyrim and yet Skyrim always gets $#!++ed on for it's combat so...what gives?

The combat is too floaty and imprecise. like you don't have a lot of control over your character and you can easily miss targets when in close quartes with them etc. Hard explain. Like your character has no weight to their attacks or body as such and it's just like kids slapping at each other.
Also it gets sh!t for it cos it got great reviews and GOTY awards and people don't know why with such lousy combat. And yes the combat is terribly poor. It does the job but just barely. You have so many RPG games now that do combat so much better

Doesn't seem that bad to me. Just a mindless hack and slash combat. Oh well.
[QUOTE="Capitan_Kid"]This is the score skyrim should have got considering all the damn bugsStevo_the_gamerMaybe you should have got the PC version. :P I did, i couldn't play that at all for weeks until it was patched.....by the damn community... the devs took what they did and finally put it into a patch later... I couldn't get through more than 1 zone without it crashing to the desktop.

Now I just need to mod for Fallout 3 to stop crashing, great job guys!

Sabertooh still randomly fly off on pc, flying mammoth from the sky, fly horses, etc. not to mention when it was first released, the control was xxxx & 4gb fix & other problems like inventory UI.
And for the combat part debate... you get like 5 moves for 1 type of combat weapon (normal attack which swings left and right, back pedaling swing, spring charge swing, standing power-attack swing) It gets boring fast. Also most of the time enemies don't react to the attack (which gets fixed by mods). The radiant AI occasionally would have enemies stand in one place not doing anything and you can keep shooting arrows at their face without it ever getting staggered.
Good score, but I'm passing. Put in a good bit of time with Skyrim but the combat got stale. I could probably find some mods to help that but meh, I've moved on.
After I played Fallout 3, when I stepped out into the Wasteland for the first time to a vast open world in First Person. After I had my first conversation where I had so many options to choose.

You have two. Each situation you have two. Complete a-Hole or Nice guy. Just two.

No, Bethesda has made some beautiful worlds, but their combat has always suffered because of all the resources necessary to create the worlds, take away from other parts of the game. Very clunky. Very "hitting the air" feeling. They still haven't gotten melee combat down yet. Their archery is fine, but they still have a ways to go on the melee. If Skyrim had The Dead Island combat system, it would be epic. That's what Dead Island did right. The fp melee combat is awesome in that game. You feel like you are hitting something, and the zombies reacted realistically when hit. You hit them in the legs with a sledgehammer. It would take their legs out and they would hit the ground. Or hit in the arm, it would break and they would stumble backwards. Or wind up a katana with an infected running at you, and time ur swing just right, it would take his head clean off. Plus, their was an option to use analog controls, so instead if just spamming r1 to swing, you would use the right analog stick to precisely control how you swung your weapon. It was excellent. So yeah, Skyrim and the rest of Bethesda games are good, but they are held back by a very lackluster combat system. Hope they update it.[QUOTE="wis3boi"]

Everyone I know who hates the combat plays a typical 'warrior' character, so I'm not surprised they hate it because that playstle has the least amount of variation and depth. I play thieves and mages, myself, so I never had any problems with combat. But I did add magic dueling and various custom killmoves to spice things up.
Stuff like this (not my screenshot):
I knew they were never going to do anything on the scale of Shivering Isles or Tribunal. There's only so much people will pay for any add-on, so might as well shoot for quantity of releases.
Not interested.
