Bethesda has confirmed that Skyrim will receive multiple, large pieces of DLC. According to director Todd Howard, the goal of new DLC releases will be to find "ways to make the game better, not just have more, because the game is so big. So we're going through ideas right now, and processing everything people are doing in the game, and trying to think of ways that we can improve it."

Howard said that the releases "don't have a timetable," but that they'll be substantial. "They won't be quick," he said, "and they'll have a lot of meat on them."

He added that players shouldn't expect any multiplayer Skyrim releases in the future. While he wouldn't rule out the possibility entirely, he said that it isn't Bethesda's current goal.

"You can never say never to anything like that," Hoaward said, "but it's not what our focus is. This type of game is where our hearts are, what we get excited about, and that's what we want to focus on. We don't want to lose that focus and we never want to sacrifice anything in the single-player game just to have it be multiplayer."

Previously, Microsoft announced that the first two DLC packs for Skyrim would be exclusive to Xbox Live for 30 days. It's not known if the timed exclusive will apply to DLC beyond that.

Good. Shivering Isles was a prefect example of how DLC *should* be done. I'm still waiting for the GOTY Edition of Skyrim. And when I get a new PC, I'm just going to keep waiting and playing Oblivion mods. Especially considering Morrowind is now in Oblivion, there is a 60+ hour standalone-story mod called "Nehrim" and the community is still working on adding all the other provinces to it... I've got more than enough Elder Scrolls. :3 That, and I still can't get over the fact "classes" have been dropped entirely in Skyrim.

Well, Cyrodil and Vvaardenfell are actually fully present landmasses in Skyrim, so... incoming expansion packs? :D

Noooo, please no Cyrodiil. It's so boring. : (

They need to do High Rock. Pretty small province.

I'm 45 hours into the game, only at level 21, and I know I just barely scratched the surface of the main plot. I have been waist deep in side missions. With a potential for 300 game hours this hardly even needs DLC

As crazy as this will sound, the more DLC content they make, the better for us. Ultimately, theres going to be a point where we'll get bored of something. As massive as this game is (lvl 27 here)....knowing Bethesda will make ridiculous big, quality DLC for it wether it'd be additional items/weapons/armor/enemies or new features....combined with what we already have is just so worth it.

In the end they're willing to extend the fun factorsfor a hell of a lot more hours.

Hell yes.

It also means they're not done fixing the game yet, which is just icing in the cake.

I agree, if ever there was a game that just doesn't need more content this may be it. The fact is though that it's all about money. And as much as I love Skyrim, I'll probably end up getting at least some of the DLC even though I'll likely still not have finished the main game by then.

Well it has happened to me, there's nothing making me want to really play this game at the moment, if I see another brown dungeon I think I'll die a bit inside.

lol, I didn't begin this game day 1 like everybody else. I could only start when I got back from my vacation (about nov 28). Actually I began Skyrim after I finished Halo Anniversary from getting back from my holiday. So I'm basically playing catch up. AND LOVING IT!! :D :D

[QUOTE="healseal"]Man this must be a terrible time to be a PS3 only gamer. Not only do they get the broken version but the game is going to become even more amazing and timed exclusivity on the 360... not that the DLC will work on the PS3 anyway.

thats okay every ps3 owner has a super pc. :D

The Fallout 3 DLC is a great bar to set. Every single one was worth the money, but ones like Broken Steel and Point Lookout added a LOT to the game and kept me playing for many hours more.

I hope they can use the unfinished Morrowind and Cyrodil lands in DLC instead of keeping them for no reason other then potential mods. It would be nice if they could open them both up and give us 1/3 of Tamriel to explore, that would be sweet.

I hope they wait a few months for the DLC. I think ive only done 4 main quest missions, yet ive managed to complete 2 dozen sidequests, and all of the companion quests. Game is HUGE :)

Multiplayer in Skyrim? If they don't do it, mods will. Oblivion ALMOST had it on its broken, hellish engine. It should be a piece of cake now for modders thanks to the Creation Engine.

Wandering around in Skyrim with a friend, slashing up dragons and causing havoc... can't say no. :P

That's a full on expansion pack though. It sounds like they are going to keep the same model they did for the fallout games.

I felt Fallout 3's DLC was hit or miss. Ankorage and the Mothership Zeta expansion were sucky, however I loved Point look out and I thought the Pitt was alright.

When I was playing earlier I had found the road to Morrowind. You can't get to it, obviously, but the way it looked and the fact that an NPC was coming out from there makes me believe that you're going to be able to go there soon enough. The only thing is Morrowind is bigger than both Oblivion and Skyrim. I doubt the entire province will be available for travel.

No they don't lol. Shivering Isles was the only real good one I can think of. All the ones for Fallout 3 sucked.

Tribunal was decent, but Bloodmoon wasn't that great.

really? Knights of the Nine was kind of good and pretty lengthy for its time. Fallout 3's Broken steel was basically a necessity . and "the pit" was ok and "point lookout" was great. ironically, the one i was most looking forward to "mothership Zeta" was actually the only one i didn't bother getting.

Knights of the Nine was short. There are mods that are free, longer and better. I wasn't a big fan of any of the Fallout 3 DLCs, they were all pretty mediocre in my book, with a couple of them sucking pretty badly. The Pitt sucked, so did Mothership Zeta.

Isn't it the exact same engine, just with some minor improvements? Multiplayer mods for Skyrim are NOT going to happen unless made by Bethesda themselves.
