One of them has a huge breathing, beautiful and living world and its not COD
One of them has 100's of replay value and is extremely immersive and its not COD
One of them is actually decent and its not COD
Agreed, mostly. There's much more in skyrim than in oblivion, but ultimately the things that needed fixing, e.g. combat still sucks, character animations and the vast quantities of bugs in the game mean that all the game actually is, is just running around a huge world, and talking with the extremely forgettable npcs, and performing reptitive and uninteresting side-quests. It's lame, and the only thing that's fun about it is how pretty it is. There is next to zero gameplay.
Skyrim is okay but highly overrated. CoD is highly overrated and crap. There's a bit of a difference there.
this title and your troll threads never fail to amaze me:lol: my ****ing chest hurts:lol:Both are overhyped garbage, that get a free pass because of the massive hype.

I understand your faults as a gamer are only faults of your system, my powers will pass to Maximus err I mean 360 to hold in trust till PC is ready to rule once more. Skyrim is to be a modders heaven again.
My decision dissapoints you?

ok we get it you're a lem, good for you.[QUOTE="Maroxad"]the depth and challenge bit is just false. the leveling and sheer content is one of the moth in depth gaming experiences ever. hell, even the side quests are fantastic, offering storylines almost as, or just as good as the main one. and the challenge bit is also false there is a few dungeons that are still to difficult for me to complete after almost 60 hours of play. and if you find the default difficulty too easy for some reason, there is still difficulty settings to make it much harder than default.Unless Skyrim gets a 5 hour long campaign that is overly scripted, offers no exploration, and gives you absolutely no freedom, Skyrim is not the CoD of RPGs. In many ways it is hte polar opposite of CoD (except for the fact that both offer next to no depth or challenge).
Btw, this is coming from a Skyrim hater.

Skyrim has a lot of breadth, not a lot of depth. The character system, the dialogue system, the level design and combat is very shallow and is too easily exploited.
As for challange. Has it ever occured to you that those dungeons are scaled to your level and in Bethesdas styIe, bloats the enemy life bars to absurd levels. But even then the game is so easily exploited that with good alchemy, enchanting and smithing skill you can pretty much two shot everything even on the highest difficulty.
Not really.
Though it does show that the core of the RPG is a very old and outdated mechanic. People by nature like to have control over things. Core RPG mechanics don't allow that. You have statics and percentages that you follow. In Skryim you have full control of your character during combat.
Old RPGs are a product of the lack processing power. They couldn't handle the animations or AI routines needed to have seamless, real-time combat. They are being phased out of even the MMORPGs because the old RPG mechanics just don't allow players to have full control of their characters.
Gaming has grown quite a bit. These older styles are very popular amoung a small group of very vocal gamers who think that older games are better. However these small groups cannot sustain modern game development costs if they want their game to even hold up a little against modern titles. Old genres die out for a reason.
I think Mass Effect comes much, much closer to that; for many different reasons.Game-fuNo, no, not really. The series will have had 3 games in 6 years, and each game radically different from the last one. And BioWare spends a LOT of time on each entry. So no.
