My opinion on mods: They can make games fun. But if a game needs so many mods to be good, then that's bad.

Why would to mod a game to make it look **** I mean it's not a question of artstyle, but you're literally turning off all the effects and replacing textures with ones that look like ****

ocstew
Oh no I can't play games if there's no OMG&*YDHSDGAYGZRAPGHICS... comon grow up. This is just for fun.

I think you're lashing out because you feel now feel guilty about all the modding you've done over the years.

I bought my rig back in september and installed my fist mod in october (TW2)

One mod is enough to feel guilt.

I agree. Modding should be illegal. I'd go as far as to say that it's as morally problematic as piracy.

You'll have to explain how piracy is related to mod...

Because the Bible says that if you alter or change what's written in the Bible, you are comitting a grave sin. Apply that same principle to games and you'll see what's wrong with modding.

I'm fast growing tired of the indie low pixel/cell shaded look with cutesy NPC's and creatures, and this mod just looks like an eye sore.

Patching and updating is yet another thing that should be illegal. Not only is it wrong for a number of moral reasons but it also encourages developers to ship half-assed products. As for the mods giving the tools, let's think about this logically: if I give you permission to kill my kids, does it suddenly become okay? No, it doesn't.

Wiirim doesn't look all that bad, I'd like to see how the weapons, monsters, and dragons look with that mod.

There would be no reasoning in killing your kids... it would not bring anything to me. Internet should also be illegal then... everybody is modding and changing features.

You have no clue of what you are talking about and shouldn't have a say in the matter.

Actually I think he has a good point , I agree with him and I have been gaming on PC for well over 10 years.

For the most part mods are something fun to f*ck around with but I prefer to play the games as the devs intended.

Yea it can be fun for a while to play CS with warcraft skills for example but nothing beats the original game,

Mods can very useful for MMOs like WoW wen you really need to preform on your top to down a hard raid boss but for a game like Skyrim? No thanks. The game is perfectly playable as it is (84 horus in here). Oh and btw the mod in this thread looks like utter sh*t.

Problem... b*tch?

jiz.

That's bulls*** and you know it. The way the game is "supposed to be played" is however you feel like playing it. If that means downloading a bunch of mods that completely change the way the game looks and plays, then so be it. Video games aren't movies or books; they aren't a static form of entertainment. There are thousands of ways to experience games and just because someone experiences it differently than the way the developers initially made the game doesn't make them wrong. There is no such thing as the way a game is meant to be played.

I'm just saying that modding doesn't become moral just because the developers say so. And yes, making the internet illegal is a great idea. The internet brings nothing but harm. We should be going back to basics, but that's another thread.

But if the bible said you could modify it's content, then it wouldn't be morally wrong... that's what the dev are saying.

But the Bible doesn't say that. The Bible says that you can't modify its content, so you can't do that with games either. And BTW, God is more credible than Bethesda and there probably wouldn't tons of glitches and bugs in his games. Just sayin'.
