[QUOTE="Shielder7"] For you maybe not for me and a lot of great games that are built around a single player experience also have great multiplayer.Shielder7
While it is true that there are games with great SP and great MP. Skyrim would not be such a game. Do you understand why MP for Skyrim would be a problem? I will list out all the problems with a MP in an elder scrolls game.
2. See above
3. There are so many ways to get around this I don't know where to begin see above for starters they could take a page from Fable 3
4. Not really no see above for why
5. Not a problem if theres a level restriction to join your world or to join together
6. It worked well for NWN
7. Bethesda polishing up their games? Since when? Also under that logic no Video game should have multiplayer.
1+2. Which in turn would mean less resources spent on the SP portion.
3. Fable 3 had a pretty lousy co-op from what I heard. I guess they could make one a Dovahkiin and the rest merceneries, but it isnt just as simple as that.
4. Perhaps with 2 players, but when then you play multiplayer with 100s of players out there it just seems a bit messed up, especially when it comes to reputation.
5. I hope you are aware of the game tracking more than just your level and adapting it to gameplay. The game will track how you fight monsters and the gameworld will be magically different if you are a archer compared to what you might have experienced as a warrior.
6. You do realize the modding for NWN and Elder Scrolls is very different. For Neverwinter Nights they had Modules, for Elder Scrolls they have modifications.
7. Since never. I want skyrim to focus on at least trying to polish up the game instead of adding useless features like co-op. Video games should have multiplayer if the pros outweight the cons and the additional cost. Unfortunately for Skyrim that is not the case.
I am hardly the only one that thinks that Skyrim is better off without multiplayer. Even Bethesda thinks the series is better off as singleplayer only. But if you want a elder scrolls with multiplayer there is always Battlespire. Oh and guess how that turned out.
1. Not if Multiplayer was seperate from single player they could have seperate mapes, lands quests for multiplayer like NWN or Two Worlds Two (which was the only part of that game that didn't suck).[QUOTE="Shielder7"]

- Level Design would be have to be designed to allow for more players
- Encounter design
- Lore, you are the last remaining Dragonborn, if you play MP where did those other Dragonborns come from?
- Radiant Story would be miles more difficult to program if it has to account for more than 1 player
- The game adjusts itself after your playstyle, this combined with level scalling
- The games moddable nature means there will be a lot of mod conflicts
- Bethesda games are in general, very buggy, if they add a MP mode that means less resources is spent on polishing up their game.

Bethesda has actually talked about how they are interested in doing multiplayer and they had a plan similar ot Red Dead Redemptions MP but more of a co op flare, but they scrathed it due to them choosing to focus on Single player. But they still expressed interest in it and Todd Howard talked about it in an interview with OPM.
I think it would definately enhance the game if they do it right.

1+2. Like I said based on that logic no game should have multiplayer.3. I hard it wasn't bad, but I never played it personaly so I can't say more than that.
4. I never susgested to turn Elder Scrolls into a MMO with 100+ people
5. They can still do that. Never stated they had to do it for your partner or partners also.
6. Still can be done and for console owners not a issue.
7. Thats wishfull thinking you'd have a better chance at winning the lotto than Bethesda polishing up a game before release, but other than that were just going to have to agree to disagree I'd like to see Skyrim with at least an online arena mode.
